Shades of Spring | Colourful Father's Day Card with Gayatri

Hello folks, Gayatri with you again.

I shared a mother’s day card a few days ago. Today I have a father’s Day card. In keeping with the spring theme, I have kept it colourful. Who said a father’s day card can’t be colourful right? So here is the card.

Gayatri_Happy Father's Day!

Here is what I did to make this card. I cut strips of white cardstock. I think I had five strip about one and quarter inch in width so the In a Word: Happy Cutaway (which will restocked in the next day or two) fits. I then sponged rainbow of distress inks. I used Festive Berries, Riped Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Mild Lavender and Picked Raspberry distress ink. Then I die cut Happy out of all of them. I arranged and glued the die cuts at an angle on a grey cardstock as I did not want the colours to be bright and vibrant. Automatically the colours gets toned down compared to using on white cardstock. I trimmed the excess hanging on all sides.

For the sentiment, I kept it simple with white heat embossing the sentiment from The Big, the Bold and the Happy stamp set on black cardstock die cut from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways. I adhered this sentiment strip with bunched up thread to add some texture. Finally some white enamel dots to complete the card.

Hope you are inspired to try something new with your dies.
