June Leading Lady Caly Person | Take Five

As June ebbs away we sadly must bid au revoir to our joyful June Leading Lady Caly Person.   The last five weeks with Caly have been full of beauty, incredible inspiration, amazing projects and a depth of style, grace and skill.  Caly has showcased her keen talent and adeptness with different coloring materials and creativity week after week.  I feel so very blessed Caly shared her talents with us this month and made this month something special.

If you missed her smashing debut you must see it...CLICK HERE or her sensationally lovely and expertly designed card from her second performance CLICK HERE or her triumphant third performance with that is too dog-gone cute CLICK HERE or her fantastic fourth performance which was an explosion of awesome CLICK HERE!  Today's cards are simply breathtaking!

Lucky for us all we have her final command performance today.

Hi Everyone! This is the final week of my Leading Lady series for Winnie & Walter! It has been so fun coloring with different color mediums using WW products!
  Caly_Person_june2018

Today's cards are extra special because I played with Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils for all the images - for the FIRST time! I've used colored pencils to add color/depth to already stamped images, but have never used them for full images - so have mercy on me! This was a lot of trial and error for me.

Julie's Roses

These flowers from the set The Big, the Bold and Extras are my favorite! Did you know that there was a special set called "In Bloom: Julie's Roses" that are the same flowers, but bigger? It's the bigger ones you see above. Don't worry, I believe Winnie & Walter will be releasing that set in the near future! I did some tone-on-tone stamping in hopes of doing no-line coloring with these images. I stamped a bunch on the same craft cardstock that you see and colored the images one at a time. I started with the leaves - applying the darkest color in the shaded areas first, blended out with the medium green, then the lightest green. When I was done, I went over the tips and the leaf veins to add some highlights with a white colored pencil.

  Julie's Roses 2

As mentioned above, this was a trial for me. I had mentioned using the darkest color first for the leaves also. You'll notice that the two pink roses are different. The lighter one is colored with a base of white down first. I don't think there's a wrong way to color - just personal preference in how you want your images to look. The colors are definitely more vibrant with a base of white, but I think there is more depth to the image when colored without a base of white first.

  Julie's Roses 1

I colored enough images to make two cards. It's easy to arrange floral arrangements anywhere on your card - but these are my go-go. I love bold sentiment strips embossed in white also. Polychromos colors used: 101, 129, 125, 133, 119, 139, 137, 159, 163, 166.

If you've been following along the past 5 weeks, you'll know that a $30 gift card is up for grabs! Comment on THIS post (on my personal blog) and let me know which of the cards I've is your favorite for you chance to win! I'll choose a winner next Saturday, July 7th and the gift card will be issued by Winnie & Walter.

June Leading Lady Caly Person | Take One

Today is a wonderful day as I get to introduce our June Leading Lady Caly Person.  I am not sure what Caly can't do...seriously this lady impresses me mightily!  Not only is she a dedicated wife and mother, she is incredibly intelligent, kind, sweet, organized, meticulous, ambitious and did I mention she is extremely talented?!?  She also has a cool head in a hot situation. :-)

I am really excited to see what Caly will be creating this month as she takes us on an adventure of her own design on Saturdays in June on the w&w blog.

Please give Caly a big round of applause to welcome her as she steps onto the stage for her first performance as our June Leading Lady!

Hi Friends! Thanks for joining me for my month-long Leading Lady feature for Winnie & Walter! I've said this before from meeting Shay (the owner) at Stamping Away - but I can't say enough nice things about this wonderful woman! She's funny, she's talented, she's kind, and wonderfully generous! I'm so happy to be her Leading Lady for the month of June!

  Caly_Person_june2018

Ok...so my profile doesn't look like that - but let's pretend I'm '30s-classic for the month, shall we? I LOVE IT! For the month, I want to focus on different color mediums. Today, we have some simple stamped images that are lightly shaded with colored pencils for added depth. My first card is made using the WW In a Word: Love stamp set. Let me first say that I adore (trying to use a word other than love here) WW's In a Word cutaways. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you seriously need to go to the WW shop and check it out. They're word dies and what makes them special is the words are all staggered - so unique (see what I mean in the image below)! In this set - you get all different styles of the word love.

  WW Love Shaker 1
I decided to make a shaker using one of the dies. I wanted the word to stand out - so I kept the panel stark white. Then I used the flowers from the set The Big, The Bold and Extras and its coordinating dies to accent the card. I stamped the flowers using Catherine Pooler Inks (Polished, It's a Girl, Mandarin Spice, and Garden Party) and shaded the flowers and leaves with some colored pencils. For the shaker space, I decided to give it some ombre color and inked the background up with Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide ink.

  WW Love Shaker

I had some extra leaves and tucked them into the word and I really think that balanced out the card. I used Pretty Pink Posh Sequins (pink peonies, watermelon, pink blush) to fill the space and called it good. The sentiment is from the In a Word: Love stamp set - simple and elegant.

This month-long feature will be every Saturday in June. If you stick around until the end of the month, you could win a fabulous gift card from Winnie & Walter. I will be drawing a winner from comments on my blog (on the final post) at the end of the month! w&w_30giftcard

Thanks for joining me this week! I'll be back next week to share more WW love!

Rerun No. 18 | The Big, the Bold and Extras (Challenge + Giveaway + Sale!)

w&w_rerun_logo

Welcome back lovelies to our next monthly Rerun!

Each Rerun will provide plenty of inspiration focusing upon a featured product, a month-long sale on the featured product and a challenge (with a prize!) and *all-new* giveaway.  You will not want to miss out!

w&wBigBoldExtras_WEB

For our eighteenth Rerun we are concentrating on The Big, the Bold and Extras.  This set has bold and outline roses, leaves and banner along with some little words which work well with any of the The Big the Bold series.

Now on to the cards!

Shay

Roses are timeless and so are the roses found in The Big, the Bold and Extras and I wanted to match them up with a newer stamp set like Scenery: Into the Woods because can you ever have enough wood grain?  I personally don't think so.

shay_IMG_4122

I began by stamping the outline wood grain pattern in charcoal grey on a piece of white cardstock.  I wanted to pair the grey with bright. happy colors (abandoned coral, ripe persimmon, scattered straw, fossilized amber, crushed olive and twisted citron Distress Ink).

I stamped the solid roses in a lighter color (I swiped the color on after using Versmark) and then over-stamped with the outline stamp in a darker color along with the center several times.  I also stamped the solid leaf duet and over-stamped with the outline several times.  I cut out images using The Big, the Bold and Extras Cutaways.  I colored in the yellow roses and leaves with colored pencils.  I attached the roses and leaves to a piece of card stock to create a cluster.  Over the cluster I added In a Word: Thanks Cutaway cut from charcoal card stock.

I added some drops of ink on the wood grain panel.  I attached the cluster to the wood grain panel with dimensional foam adhesive and the whole panel to a charcoal grey card base.  Finally I added some sequins.
