I am back with two rather simple birthday cards today.  I am always needing birthday cards and it is quite lovely to have products that are versatile so I can use them for any age or gender.

Today's cards are cheerful and could send it to most anyone.

For my first card I stamped a piece of 4.25 x 5.5 inch cardstock creating a background using Ring in the Celebration.  I cut the piece in half lengthwise.  On an A2 white card base I adhered half of the background and then added a strip of navy cardstock.  Atop the navy strip I added "celebrate" cut using In a Word: Celebrate and sprayed with shimmery mist.  I then added a glittery gold star.  What I really love about this design is it is very easy to make 2 cards at once.

For my second card I inked up Mini Scenery: Round and Round with yellows and oranges.  I cut it out and adhered it to the smaller rectangle from Essentials: Lana Essentials which so happens to be perfectly sized to fit any of our Mini Scenery backgrounds.  I adhered the panel onto a white A2 card base.  I cut out the "birthday" out of the rectangle from In a Word: Birthday Tiles and then taped the letters on the back to keep them in place.  I adhered them to the background and cut out the handwritten "happy" from In a Word: Happy Coordinating Cutaways and inked it up with the darker orange.  I adhered it to the card to finish it off.

Thank you so much for all of your kind comments and we are so happy you are enjoying what our August Leading Lady, Ashwini Rao, and the Talent have shown you so far.  I am back with another couple of cards today.

I went with bold and bright colors today using fuchsia, pink, persimmon and pale orange and at times lime green (I really do love the cheerful vibrancy of lime green). 

 

First, I began with a little card that would be great to add with a gift or to make several of to have on hand as they really are good for all ages and genders by simply changing up the colors as you wish.

I began by inking up the cake from Happy Birthday to You with persimmon, pink and fuchsia inks.  I then cut out the cake using the Happy Birthday to You Cutaways.  I also inked up the candles 3 times with pink ink on white cardstock and cut then out along with the largest flame from  yellow-orange cardstock and I stamped the smaller flame in persimmon.  I adhered the flames to the candles and the candles to the cake.  I also cut out the scallop frosting details from Happy Birthday to You Cutaways in white cardstock and added those to the cake.  I cut out the smaller postage stamp rectangle from Essentials: Lana Cutaways in white cardstock and adhered the cake with dimensional foam adhesive onto the card and postage stamp layer.

For my second card I stamped the large outline flower and bisected leaf from In Bloom: Shirley's Blooms using black ink on a piece of cardstock creating a background.  I then stamped in the two parts of the petals and leaf with the solid stamps in the set.  I stamped "happy" and "birthday" in black ink using Happy Birthday to You and cut them out using Happy Birthday to You Cutaways.  Over a strip of black cardstock I adhered the sentiment using dimensional foam adhesive.  Then I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base.  How is that for a groovy card?

Today is all about the In a Word series which has a consistent length to all it's big words. We are introducing a stamp set to the series: In a Word: Happy stamp set which has the stamp form of In a Word: Happy Cutaway, an outline of the same word, a new elegant "happy" and then a handwritten "happy" along with a few little images and smaller yet still bold supporting words.  We hope you find this set an invaluable part of your crafting arsenal!  Want coordinating cutaways to the stamp set? Another new addition to the In a Word series is In a Word: Birthday Tiles Cutaways which has five (5) birthday words/phrases all the same length as the rest of the In a Word series along with a frame and inner rectangle that can be used with the words for lots of different options.

I made a couple of cards for you today.

So using the same palette (coral, mint, charcoal grey and yellow-green or gold) I went with a very feminine card and a more gender neutral one.  Both cards are very simple in design.  

For the feminine card I stamped a simple background using the five petal flower, leaf, circle for a center and the imperfect circle from In a Word: Happy stamp set on a panel of white cardstock.  On another piece of white cardstock I stamped the solid "happy" in coral ink, cut it out using In a Word: Happy Coordinating Cutaways and then used peach, orange and orange-red colored pencils to color it in ombre style.  On a strip of mint cardstock I stamped "birthday" in charcoal ink.  I attached the strip and then the "happy" over that using dimensional foam adhesive.  I attached the floral panel to an A2 white cardstock card base.

For the more gender neutral card I stamped the handwritten "happy" from In a Word: Happy stamp over and over in charcoal ink at a diagonal on the front of a white A2 card base.  To soften the look and make it less busy I painted with some gesso over the majority of the center of the happy stamped background leaving an outer frame around untouched.

I added a strip of grey cardstock.  Over the grey strip I adhered the inner rectangle or tile with birthday cut from the middle of it using In a Word: Birthday Tiles.  From In a Word: Happy Coordinating Cutaways I added the handwritten "happy" die that I had sprayed with some shimmery coral mist.  Then I added some puffy stars by Freckled Fawn and enamel dots by My Mind's Eye.
