WCMD 2018 | Lucky 7 Limit Challenge with Shay

Hello lovelies!

You've made it to our last challenge for WCMD 2018 and I hope you are having a splendid time.

I have a different challenge for you which I am calling the Lucky 7 Limit Challenge.  What is you may be wondering.  Let me explain.  If you choose to take on this challenge you will be limited to a total of 7 colors (yellow would count as 1 color even if you have several shades), layers, products/supplies (patterned paper, embossing powder, stamp sets, stencils, dies, etc.) and embellishments.  For instance you could choose to create a 1 layer card with 3 products  (2 stamp sets + 1 embellishment like enamel dots) and 3 colors.  Tools (like a die cutting machine, MISTI, ink blending tool, water, adhesive), inks, cardstock and neutral colors (white, grey, brown and even black) are freebies and do not count towards your 7.  I have a couple of examples for you.

Card No. 1

So for a really simple card that really has no problem meeting this challenge I give you this little number:

shay_IMG_4333
1 layer + 2 colors + 1 stamp set = 4!

This card uses In Bloom: Ashlee's Posies with Lydia Evans stamp set along with 2 colors of Catherine Pooler Inks: flirty fuchsia and grass skirt stamped on a white cardstock base.  Sometimes it doesn't take much to have a pretty card.

Card No. 2

Now, I have another card that does stretch the bounds of this challenge:

shay_IMG_3898
2 layers + 2 colors (blue & green) + paint + die cut + glittery thicker = 7!

This is a super easy card where I used the solid star from True Multifaceted Star Cutaways to create a star pattern on a piece of a cardstock and then with ink painted around the stars and then painted in the stars with white paint and I also painted on some glimmery paint over the blue and green (I am going to count the 2 paints as a single item: paint lol).  Then I adhered the panel to a white A2 piece of cardstock and finished it with a glittery "1" Thicker.

I can't wait to see your take on this challenge!

Prize: One randomly chosen project that is linked up will win $50.00 gift credit to the w&w shop.  **Remember for rules about the challenges to read up HERE.**

WCMD 2018 | Coordinating Die Coloring Challenge with Kelly

Hi Folks! Kelly here with a challenge for you ... Coordinating Die Coloring

How does this work? Pick one of your favorite stamps that has a corresponding die, die cut a piece from copy paper (making a stencil), place the negative stencil portion of the die cut over your stamped image, and sponge ink through the stencil.

Why should you do this? It's about the fastest way to color an image that I can think of! This makes it perfect when you're stamping a lot of images and just don't have the time or desire to make mini-coloring masterpieces. This does, however, leave you with the option to go back in and add some details with a marker if you'd like, like I did with the focal point green elephant.

I think this technique works particularly well with baby cards when you want to have soft, simple shapes. The adorable elephant featured on this card is from one of my favorite Evelin T Designs sets, Happy Dance. The die cut is from In a Word: Baby, and the sentiment is from Wishing You with Evelin Designs.

I sure hope you'll give this challenge a try ... I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by!
-Kelly

Hi everyone, and happy World Card Making Day! I hope you are enjoying the celebration on the Winnie & Walter blog so far. :) I love being inspired by challenges and I hope you'll like the one I'm hosting today: the Stamp Images Mash Up challenge! Stretching the use of my stamps and dies is certainly one of my favorite crafting techniques, and I think combining images from 3 different stamp sets is a fun way to do so. Here's the card I created for today:

Video found here:

I picked out a couple of images from Season's Tweetings with Eveling T. Designs, In Bloom: Elsa's Flora, and Wish Big with Eveling T. Designs to create this snow globe scene. You might wonder where I used the Wish Big set; the cupcake stamp from it is disguised as the snow globe base!

All of the images are colored with Copic markers.

Are you ready to take on the challenge? I can't wait to see your stamp images mash up creations!

WCMD 2018 | Ink Blending Challenge with Lea

The challenge is simple - to use ink blending in some sort! I've blended the sky to my cute scene using Distress Oxide inks, but you can use any inks you'd like and in any fashion you want. As long as there is some ink blending on your project somewhere, it fits the challenge!

WCMD 2018 | Clean and Simple (CAS) Challenge with Heather

To get all the information about w&w WCMD 2018 CLICK HERE.

Good morning - and Happy World Card Making Day!

I am excited to be hosting a Clean and Simple Card Challenge today! Despite the word "simple" in the title, CAS cards are not necessarily easy to create. Sometimes it takes a lot more effort to not add too many embellishments, and everyone knows what the smudge of an inky finger can do to all that nice clean white space! I have 3 examples of CAS cards to share with you - as well as some tips for making this style of card!

First up - using a stencil and leaving your background images uncolored is a great way to achieve a CAS design. For this card I used some distress ink and Scenery: Rectangled Creative Screenings to create a soft background, then stamped the sweet pups from Dog-gone Cute with Evelin T Designs and die cut with the Coordinating dies. I mounted this with foam adhesive on my cardbase, stamped a sentiment underneath, and then added the hearts from Welcome to the Family with Evelin T Designs.

Another fun way to twist up a CAS design is to stamp minimal images and sentiments, but instead of in the front and center of the card where you would first think, set it off in a corner. For this sweet and simple card I stamped the sweet house from Our Town in Aquatini ink in the bottom right corner, added the hearts coming out of the chimney with Rockin' Red ink, and then stamped a sentiment from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs in black. All the white space lets the meaning of the card shine - and your eye follows the house up from the bottom corner, along the hearts out of the chimney, all the way to the sentiment that perfectly captures the scene!

And finally - another fun way to create a CAS card is stamping outline images in colored ink instead of coloring the images in! For this card I used images and a sentiment from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs stamped in Lime Rickey, Rockin Red, and Tiara ink. I trimmed that white panel down and mounted it on my white cardbase for just a bit of a simple border and dimension.

Thanks so much for joining me today! You can visit my blog for more photos and details of these cards - and I hope you will play along with both this and ALL of the great challenges going on today at Winnie and Walter! Have a wonderful crafty day!

crystal_Black and White Backgrounds (1 of 7)

Your challenge is to create a card with a black and white background!  You can use anything to make your black and white background: inks, paints, sprays...get creative.  (Yes, you can use other colors elsewhere on your card if you wish).

Here is the video:

This card used Scenery: V for cheVron stamp set inked up for a really graphic and cool look.  The sentiment is was cut out using In a Word: Happy Coordinating Cutaways and In a Word: Birthday Cutaway.  Black and white is so awesome for guys and the especially difficult to make cards for teen boys.

WCMD 2018 | Number Cruncher Challenge with Keren

To get all the information about w&w WCMD 2018 CLICK HERE.

Happy World Card Making Day everyone!

I'm really happy to be hosting another challenge for you. This isn't taxing, it's easy as 1,2,3!! I've called it the Number Cruncher challenge and it's all about numbers. Let me show you my example and we'll count the ways to do the challenge!

E39D78F8-D596-402A-A9C4-150F5C1DD631

The most obvious way of fulfilling the brief is to use actual numbers. The Typecast: Cary Numbers Cutaways  are what I've used to make the number background. Cut them all out of white and use to make a simpler background or just use the individual numbers to highlight a special birthday. I'm not saying you couldn't even spell out a number using alpha dies! ;-)

This close up gives you a clue to the other way you can tackle the conundrum; using numbered groups of elements. Our eyes like odd numbers, so grouping elements of 3 or 5 or 1 is perfect. See how I've used the group of 3 leaves (& yes, I only used 2 acorns !!), 5 nuvo drops and the single sentiment. Think of sequins or buttons, paint splats etc-  too many ways to count!

34B8C0CE-B7F2-4B2F-8CA0-3D4ECF8A3681

I can't wait to see the creative ways you tackle this challenge. I'm certainly not a fan of maths, but creating with numbers is a lot more fun! Are you ready to take this on? 1,2,3...GO! x

WCMD 2018 | Dress Up Your Die Cuts Challenge with Gayatri

To get all the information about w&w WCMD 2018 CLICK HERE.

The challenge title: Dress Up Your Die Cuts.

Explanation: Make your die cut pop by dressing up the die cuts on your card. Stamp them, colour them, sponge inks on them, watercolour them, use alcohol inks on them.... Whatever floats your boat.
However, stamping, colouring or heat emboss on coordinating dies is not part of the challenge.
Here is my take on the challenge.

gayatri_Dress the Die Cuts Challenge card Gayatri

On the card, I used In a Word: Joy cutaway which is stamped used the image from Elisa's Flora  stamp set and coloured using copic markers. I also stamped the same image on the top of the card front and coloured using copic markers to coordinate with the Joy sentiment. I also sponged Peeled Paint distress ink in ombre fashion from top of the card front. The JOY sentiment is glued flat on the card front because I didn't want big dimension. This card is one of my Christmas card design this year. That means I can mass produce this card.If you want dimension, then you can stack and glue three JOY die cuts. I also added some jewels for the festive bling to finish the card.

Hope you are inspired my take on the challenge. I cannot wait to see what you come up with. Happy World Cardmaking Day!
