August Color Combo with Heather H. (Challenge)

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you! We are going to do things a little differently this time - ANYTHING GOES! So you are welcome to choose your own color combo (just make sure and post it or a link to it in your post so that we can see your inspiration) - or you can go back and choose a color combo from past challenges (you can find them all HERE)! Or if you like, you can use the color combo I posted below! :)

And this time I made a SUPER clean and simple card for an inspiration piece - a little different than my usual!

Here is my color inspiration for this month - I admit to feeling a bit sheepish when I realized how close my color choice was this month around to last month! I actually hadn't looked back to remember what last month's was until I picked this out of my Pinterest board for inspiration - I think it must be a summer thing to be attracted to yellow (sunshine and all of that maybe?) Anyway - apparently I'm loving this color combo lately!

I built my sweet little flower using In Bloom: Anna's Flora. I first stamped the bloom, masked off just the bottom of the flower to stamp the stem, then masked off the stem to add the leaves - super easy peasy! I then colored the image in with Copic markers.

I finished off by building a sentiment using Sentimental: Gift - using 3 different sentiments together.

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! You guys all ROCKED this past color combo, so it was super hard to choose my favorites! (Which gives me hope that you'll forgive me for making this next one so very similar?) Anyway...I did my best to narrow it down - just know that I wanted to pick you ALL as favorites!

First up - this absolutely gorgeous card by Ashwini! This card is plain and simple a work of art! Absolutely gorgeous - and great job using the color combo!!!

Next up, I love this fun graphic take from Marlena! She absolutely nailed the colors from the combo - and I love the fun and playful layout! Perfection!

And then we have this clever little card by Shona Chambers! I love her fun layout with Mini Scenery: Madison - fussy cutting it the way she did, and of course, her use of the challenge colors are spot on!

And finally, Megan Beth created this lovely floral card - love the way she stamped those florals in colored ink, then colored them in for a no line effect! Great work!

June Leading Lady Caly Person | Take Five

As June ebbs away we sadly must bid au revoir to our joyful June Leading Lady Caly Person.   The last five weeks with Caly have been full of beauty, incredible inspiration, amazing projects and a depth of style, grace and skill.  Caly has showcased her keen talent and adeptness with different coloring materials and creativity week after week.  I feel so very blessed Caly shared her talents with us this month and made this month something special.

If you missed her smashing debut you must see it...CLICK HERE or her sensationally lovely and expertly designed card from her second performance CLICK HERE or her triumphant third performance with that is too dog-gone cute CLICK HERE or her fantastic fourth performance which was an explosion of awesome CLICK HERE!  Today's cards are simply breathtaking!

Lucky for us all we have her final command performance today.

Hi Everyone! This is the final week of my Leading Lady series for Winnie & Walter! It has been so fun coloring with different color mediums using WW products!
  Caly_Person_june2018

Today's cards are extra special because I played with Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils for all the images - for the FIRST time! I've used colored pencils to add color/depth to already stamped images, but have never used them for full images - so have mercy on me! This was a lot of trial and error for me.

Julie's Roses

These flowers from the set The Big, the Bold and Extras are my favorite! Did you know that there was a special set called "In Bloom: Julie's Roses" that are the same flowers, but bigger? It's the bigger ones you see above. Don't worry, I believe Winnie & Walter will be releasing that set in the near future! I did some tone-on-tone stamping in hopes of doing no-line coloring with these images. I stamped a bunch on the same craft cardstock that you see and colored the images one at a time. I started with the leaves - applying the darkest color in the shaded areas first, blended out with the medium green, then the lightest green. When I was done, I went over the tips and the leaf veins to add some highlights with a white colored pencil.

  Julie's Roses 2

As mentioned above, this was a trial for me. I had mentioned using the darkest color first for the leaves also. You'll notice that the two pink roses are different. The lighter one is colored with a base of white down first. I don't think there's a wrong way to color - just personal preference in how you want your images to look. The colors are definitely more vibrant with a base of white, but I think there is more depth to the image when colored without a base of white first.

  Julie's Roses 1

I colored enough images to make two cards. It's easy to arrange floral arrangements anywhere on your card - but these are my go-go. I love bold sentiment strips embossed in white also. Polychromos colors used: 101, 129, 125, 133, 119, 139, 137, 159, 163, 166.

If you've been following along the past 5 weeks, you'll know that a $30 gift card is up for grabs! Comment on THIS post (on my personal blog) and let me know which of the cards I've is your favorite for you chance to win! I'll choose a winner next Saturday, July 7th and the gift card will be issued by Winnie & Walter.

June Leading Lady Caly Person | Take Two

Our June Leading Lady Caly Person back for her sensational second performance!  If you missed her smashing debut you must see it...CLICK HERE.   Today's card is so very pretty and expertly composed and designed!

Ladies and gentlemen, Caly...

Welcome back, Friends! It's week two for me as a Winnie & Walter Leading Lady! Last week, I shared a shaker card made using simple stamping and adding shading using colored pencils. I'm focusing on a different medium every week and this week's card is made using Copics.

  Caly_Person_june2018

Copics are my go-to coloring medium because I love how they blend. I have to admit - they take a lot of time to perfect sometimes and I know that's intimidating for a lot of people. Fear not! I'm here to tell you - you don't have to be a professional to color beautifully. Every color choice and blending is all in the artistry of the marker holder - that's you!

  WW In Bloom-Carolina's Florals

I die cut a dotty heart from the True Dotty Heart Cutaways using pink cardstock to create a focal point on my card. I propped it up using some foam squares to give it some dimentsion. Then I stamped and colored a bunch of flowers and leaves from the In Bloom: Carolina's Florals with Angelica Suarez stamp and coordinating cutaways sets. I find that googling a flower sometimes, helps me visualize. That's what I had to do for the daffodils on this card, anyway. I really didn't spend too much time on the coloring either - it helps to have images that are smaller ;).

  WW In Bloom-Carolina's Florals 1

I layered all the pieces on this die-cut heart and imagined where I wanted all the pieces to sit and once I as happy, I started gluing it all down. Some of the flowers and leaves are under the heart also. To complete the card, I stamped the sentiment from the Sentimental: Gift set on black paper and embossed with white powder. I left a lot of white space on the card because I felt this focal point is all the card needs.

This month-long feature will be every Saturday in June. If you stick around until the end of the month, you could win a fabulous gift card from Winnie & Walter. I will be drawing a winner from comments on my blog (on the final post) at the end of the month!

  w&w_30giftcard

Thanks for joining me this week! I'll be back next week to share more WW love!

I hope you enjoyed this card! See you back here next week for the next installment of my Leading Lady features!
