July Color Combo with Heather H. (Challenge)

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you! This month's color combo is bright and happy and colorful - a perfect cheery color combo for the middle of summer!

Here is my color inspiration for this month - I love these bright happy shades of green and yellow!

I used some adorable images from Happy Dance with Evelin T Designs for the elephant and bundle of balloons on my card, coloring them up with Copic markers to match my color scheme, and adding some details with a white gel pen. I die cut them with their Coordinating Dies as well.

Next, I created a shaker element by die cutting a panel of white cardstock with Essentials: Carly Cutaways (for the circle window) and Essentials: Katharine Cutaways (for the dotted rectangle). I stamped my sentiment from Party on with Evelin T Designs, and backed my shaker with yellow cardstock, and filled the inside with tiny 3mm clear sparkling sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. Finished off by mounting on a green top folding cardbase!

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! I know it was a bit of a challenging color combo, but I loved seeing all the creative takes on it!

First up - this lovely creation from Rosali! I love how she incorporated the challenge colors - and that heart looks like stained glass! Beautiful!!!

Next up, isn't this a fun card from Vinita Jane? I love the fun angle, layers, and how she used the colors in such an unexpected way! Awesome work!

And then there is this fun little card by Jane! What a fun take on the challenge colors! I love all the white space, and the cluster in the corner with all the elements! So very cute!

And last but not least - Maryam nailed it with this soft and pretty beauty! So lovely and dreamy - beautiful work!

December Leading Lady Shona Chambers | Take Five

December and 2016 will ending in a few short hours which sadly means it is our last Saturday with our dazzling and delightful Leading Lady, Shona Chambers.  The last five weeks with Shona have been a revelation in fabulous design, thoughtful touches and sweet simplicity.  Each festive post has been a great joy to behold and really made this December all the more merry and bright for her holiday cheer and creativity.  I feel so fortunate for Shona sharing her talents and self this month!

If you missed her smashing debut you must see it CLICK HERE or her sensational second performance focusing upon beautiful backgrounds CLICK HERE or triumphant third performance full of stunning shimmer and shine CLICK HERE or her fabulous-filled-with-heat fourth performance CLICK HERE.

Lucky for us all we have her final command performance today.

Hi there everybody!! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and holiday time with your family and friends, were spoilt rotten and are now a few pounds heavier like myself!!!

I can't believe it's time for my fifth and final post as the Winnie and Walter - December Leading Lady. I've had so much fun this month showcasing their wonderful new release products and using older ones that are favourites from my own stash. I've really enjoyed myself and this is a bittersweet post for me.

Shona_Chambers_december2016

Thank you so much to all of you for popping in for a visit each weekend to see what I've come up with and being so supportive with your wonderful comments. And of course a huge thank you to Shay for giving me this massive opportunity to be a part of the Winnie and Walter team for a few weeks. It really has been a dream come true!!

Right, I better get on to showing you a few cards (which is what you came to see....) before I need to reach for my tissues again!! I have one more lot of Christmas cards to show you and this time I've gone for a theme that many of you dread.....one-layer cards!! These are sometimes the hardest cards to make, trying to create interest without all the bulk but once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless!

shona_week5_image002

For this first card I wanted to include many of the cute Christmas characters from the new release. The owl and birdie with hat are from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs. The snowman, penguins and sentiment are from Season's Tweetings with Evelin T Designs.  I used my MISTI to arrange all the stamps on the card front at the same time and stamp all with black ink. I then randomly stamped the hearts 'Sending You with Evelin T Designs' (to be released early in 2017) in red ink, gave them all a quick coating of Wink of Stella, and glued on some sequins from Neat and Tangled.

shona_week5_image003
For my second card I decided to include some 'inlaid die-cutting' which is a brilliant one-layer technique to master!! I cut a panel of white card stock the same size as the card front and die-cut the Christmas bauble from Essentials: Carly Cutaways three times. I grabbed some blue paint chips in shades that created an 'ombre' effect and cut the bauble from each one. For the middle bauble I die-cut the 'for you' (from the same cutaways set) and also from some silver glitter card stock.

Now the fun part! I adhered the die-cut panel to the card front and inlaid each coloured bauble, making sure the top part of the middle one wasn't stuck down. I then used my Quickie Glue Pen to inlay the 'for you' pieces and tied a piece of silver metallic twine to the top. And of course I had to finish it off with some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

shona_week5_image004
With this card I wanted to show how you can create dimension and interest by colouring your images. Not that my colouring skills are all that great but you get the idea! I started by stamping the frames (from Framed with Evelin T Designs) using my MISTI. I used it again to stamp the owls (from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs) as it helped line up their feet with the edge of the frames. While there I stamped the sentiment and pine-cone sprigs from Merry and Bright with Evelin T Designs

Now all I had to do was sit down and relax somewhere and colour this in using my favourite Faber Castell pencils. I decided to only do some, what I call, 'Spotlight' colouring of the hats and scarves, and save the brown colouring for the frames. This is where I could add the most dimension with shading. A few sequins from Neat and Tangled gave it a bit of shine!

shona_week5_image005

As usual I saved one of my favourites for last! This is one of those designs where you could colour it however you like, making many of them with different colour combo's. I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment in the middle and then all the ornaments around the outside in groups. All of these images are from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs. To colour these in, I used glitter gel pens from Kaisercraft. Wish I could capture the shimmer of these colours in the photo!

Well, I'm afraid that's it! That's my last Leading Lady card but you will still see me around Blogland and Instagram using my Winnie and Walter products for all sorts of cards. And don't forget to pop over to my blog Twine Around to leave a comment on my Leading Lady posts for a chance to win a $30 Winnie and Walter gift card!!

Thanks again everyone for your support and feedback. And huge hugs to Shay and Evelin for creating such an amazing new release, it made creating my cards so easy!!

Take care and Happy New Year!!

December Leading Lady Shona Chambers | Take One

Shona_Chambers_december2016

Today we are very excited to introduce our December Leading Lady, Shona Chambers. Shona seized our attention on more than one occasion by participating in our challenges. As a result we spotlighted her work last year on the w&w blog HERE and HERE. Her clean and simple aesthetic allows her use of texture, design and color to really shine and make a bold impact.  Her work is impeccably done and so inspirational.

Over the next few Saturdays in Shona will be leading us on a journey of her own design and imagining. Make sure to visit her blog, Twine Around, to see more from her and for a chance to win a giveaway!

Please give Shona a big round of applause to welcome her as she steps onto the stage for her first performance as our December Leading Lady!

Hi there everybody!! I'm so very excited to be the December Leading Lady for Winnie and Walter. I'm over the moon to be sharing my designs with you every Saturday this month!

shona_image001

For those of you who don't know me, I live in Blenheim, New Zealand which seems to be the 'earthquake capital' at the moment. I work as a gardener, helping people who don't have time to garden or weren't born with a green thumb. I'm married with two children Phoebe 11yrs and Max 10yrs, who I love to bits!!! I started card making 4 years ago after going to a local craft fair. I've had my blog Twine Around for 3 years and have developed a mainly CAS style. I love horror movies, walking my golden retriever Bella and have a big addiction to Peanut M&M's.

I've also been a huge fan of Winnie and Walter's products for the past few years and have entered nearly all of their challenges. Its an absolute privilege to be on their blog and I hope I do Shay proud with my designs!!

I decided that since its December and EVERYTHING is about Christmas, I would make that the running theme of each Saturday's post. However I will use a certain technique, colour combo or product each time to hopefully give you some inspiration.

For this weeks post I'm going with what I love the most - CAS (Clean and Simple). I wanted to show you that a white card base can be an effective background and how it can simply show off your star image.

shona_image002

For my first card I used images from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs, coloured them with pencils and used their matching dies. The branch was adhered to the card front and the owls popped up on foam tape. I then stamped the sentiment from Season's Tweetings with Evelin T Designs and added Nuvo Drops in White to replicate snow. The colours pop against all the white!!

shona_image003

For my second card I stamped and pencil coloured the owl from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs and used the matching die-cut. To add some background interest I die-cut the True Multifaceted Star Cutaway twice from white card stock and adhered them on top of each other. The owl was popped on foam tape and the sentiment from Season's Tweetings was stamped in black.

shona_image005

I love this little penguin!! I stamped this image from Season's Tweetings, coloured his body with pencils and his hat with a red glitter gel pen from Kaisercraft. He was die-cut with the matching die and foam tape added to his back. I die-cut the circle of white card stock using Essentials: Carly Cutaways (the 2nd largest die) and adhered it to the card front. The penguin was popped in place, the sentiment stamped from Sentimental: Winter and Nuvo Drops in White added for snow.

shona_image004

For my final card I used my favourite Christmas colour combo - blue and white. I die-cut the circle frame using the two largest dies from Essentials: Carly Cutaways and adhered to the card front. I stamped the tree from Season's Tweetings and bird with ornaments from Happy Owlidays and cut with matching dies. The ornaments were coloured with blue glitter gel pens from Kaisercraft and the bird with pencils. I also added Nuvo Drops in White to his hat for dimension. The tree with ornaments was adhered to the card, the bird popped up on foam tape and the sentiment (from Sentimental: Winter) stamped in black.

Clean, simple and eye-catching, that's how I love my cards! And any of these would be easy to mass produce (which is what I will be doing this weekend). I hope I've given you some ideas with a 'less is more' feel. Next Saturday I'll be back with something completely different.

And don't forget to pop over to my blog Twine Around and leave a comment for a chance to win a $30 gift voucher.

>>>THE GOOD STUFF<<<

I think we've had enough talk already!  Let's get to my project. :-)

shay_IMG_4068

Using Essentials: Carly Cutaways, Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs, Season's Tweetings with Evelin T Designs and Scenery: Harleen Creative Screenings, I created this sweet ornament. I began by inking up the creative screenings on a solid tag base and stamped various stars from Season's Tweetings with Evelin T Designs over that in black ink.  I stamped and colored in the limb and owl trio from Happy Owlidays with Evelin T Designs before cutting them out with their coordinating cutaways.  I added the frame layer over the tag build my scene using dimensional foam adhesive on the owls.  I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set and added twine to the tag.  Something simple, yet pretty cute thanks to some adorable stamps. :-)

>>>THE GOOD STUFF<<<

Let's get to the fun part and see these products in action.

Shay

Thank you so much for joining us for our second day of premieres for our November 2016 Release!  Today I bring you a couple of cards with the same color scheme and using the new In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals with Angelica Suarez + Scenery: Holiday Trimmings + Sending You with Evelin T Designs (free with qualifying purchases) + Wishing You with Evelin T Designs along with Essentials: Carly Cutaways and the coordinating cutaways to In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals with Angelica Suarez.

shay_IMG_4056

I used the stripe with diagonal circles from Scenery: Holiday Trimmings in oranges, corals and reds and alternated it with the trees in lime and pine greens to stamp on a piece of white cardstock.  In between the trees I alternated stamping a star from Wishing You with Evelin T Designs in black with a red heart stamped from Sending You with Evelin T Designs.  I cut out a frame using the two rectangles from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways Over that I added the sentiment created using "joy" stamped in red (I cut out the "joy" from black cardstock and layered it over that ) and cut out using the coordinating cutaways and stripes stamped using In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals with Angelica Suarez.  I adhered the sentiments down--the joy with foam dimensional adhesive.  All of these layers was adhered to a white card base.  I sprinkled some star gems around the sentiment.

For the second card I stamped flowers, berries and leaves from In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals with Angelica Suarez to create a patterned paper.  I cut it out using the larger rectangle from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways.  I wrapped some black embroidery floss around the panel.  From Essentials: Carly Cutaways I cut out the smaller round tags from black cardstock.  Over that I layered a circle and "for you" from patterned paper from Essentials: Carly Cutaways using foam dimensional adhesive.  I adhered the whole tag onto the floral panel with foam dimensional adhesive (surprise, surprise).  The floral panel was adhered to a white card base with a black panel on the front.
