Playdate No. 2 Winners Announced

Yes, you read it right we are choosing 2 winners of the Playdate No. 2 challenge!  We faced a momentous challenge of our own to pick from the superb array of projects.  We want to congratulate every single person who entered and made our decision so darn tough...we spent quite a bit of time discussing our choice!  Thank you so very much for so generously sharing your talents and efforts with us!

We finally paired it down to 2 because of their clever use of stamps.  Here are our winners:

dianejaquay.playdate2

Diane Jaquay of Peaceful Lane

Diane created 4 beautiful cards that showed an excellent out-of-the-box creativity that had us smitten.  This particular card works The Big, the Bold and Extras to within an inch of its life!  She simply went for it.  Then there is the great use of the pattern rectangles from Scenery: Rectangled & Triangled.

jennymartin.playdate2

Jenny Martin of My Paper Epiphany

Jenny also created several lovely cards, but it was the one in which she so wonderfully paired The Big, the Bold and Extras with dies to create this charming bird perched on a branch.

Diane and Jenny, please contact us at info {at} winniewalter {dot} com!

We can't wait for our next Playdate. :-)

Playdate No. 2 | Vanessa's Take

Hello everybody!

Vanessa here with a card I made using the colors from the current Playdate challenge.

w&w_playdate2_may2014

This photo is so beautiful and I really love the flowers, but I wanted my take on the challenge to be very modern and clean without it looking too much like the inspiration photo. So I just used the color palette to create my card:

Vanessa Playdate2

I started with a white cardstock panel that I trimmed slightly smaller than my card base. Then I stamped the solid rectangle from Scenery: Rectangled & Triangled using Hero Arts Butter Bar Shadow Ink, Hero Arts Green Hills Shadow Ink and Tsukineko Angel Pink Ink. With Tsukineko Tuxedo Black Ink I stamped the words "happy", "my" and "friend" from The Big, the Bold, and the Happy onto the rectangles and adhered the panel to the card using foam tape. Now I heat-embossed the big "hello" from the same set onto pink cardstock and fussy-cut it. For more dimension, I used foam tape to adhere the word to the card. Finally, I adhered matching sequins and that little butterfly from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes collection.

I hope that I have inspired you with my take on the challenge! Now it's your turn! Create a project inspired by the Playdate inspiration photo or color scheme and enter to win a chance to be a Guest Designer for the July release! I would love to see you there!! You have until June, 15, 2014 at 11:55 p.m. (central standard time) to link up. Can't wait to see what you create!  For more information or to link up CLICK HERE.

Have a beautiful day and happy creating!

Vanessa

Anyway, I am here with a public service announcement--the good kind and to share a very simple card of mine.

>>>THE ANNOUNCEMENT<<<

The original winner of the Third Release The Big Giveaway never claimed their prize so we are drawing another winner.

The winner of the The Big Giveaway is:

Jenny!

>>>THE CARD<<<

Now, on to my simple card using the Playdate No. 2 as my inspiration.

Here's the Playdate No. 2 image:

Heather Pulvirenti, one of the The Talent of w&w, is the gifted photographer and chose the color inspiration for our Playdate No. 2.

I had some fun with my Distress Inks and a water brush.  Can you tell?  I am on a Distress Ink kick. ;-)
 shay.playdate.2.1

I inked up the flowers and leaves from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom in fired brick, worn lipstick and peeled paint (leaves).  Then I blended the colors with a water brush on the watercolor paper.  I additionally added flickers of watered down ink and brushed on a little pink to the background.  I edged the panel with mustard seed Distress Ink with my ink blending tool.  The patterned paper is by Basic Grey from their Knee Highs collection which I stamped with "celebrate" from The Big, the Bold and Extras.  I scored the patterned paper to help to stamp in a straight line, but I also folded the paper at the score so when I adhered it under the watercolor panel it lifts off the card for dimension and interest.

Also from The Big, the Bold and Extras is the solid banner which I stamped in mustard seed and painted in a bit.  I let it dry and then overstamped with the outline of the banner in black.  I cut it out and stamped in the sentiment "you're brilliant" from Bubble Talk (which should be in the shop very soon!).  I adhered the banner with some foam dimensional adhesive in the middle of the banner and flat on the ends so it has some shape.  I added all of the layers onto an A2 white card base.

Last I added some black sequins as I chose to pull in black from the sentiments as my neutral.  I know it is high contrast but I really love having both bright white and black with pops of color on a card.

I am so glad Heather came up with such a lovely color scheme!

Our very own Heather Pulvirenti, member of The Talent of w&w, is the fabulous photographer and color inspiration for our Playdate #2.  Thanks, Heather!

Ok - First of all - I can't get enough of pink!  It is a fave of mine, if you haven't noticed. *wink*  The colors for this challenge are fabulous and with flowers as inspiration, I'm pretty much in heaven!!!

jmog_playdate2_A

I played with the flowers from our newly released set, The Big, the Bold and Extras and had so much fun playing with the two-step stamping.  I added some more flowers from one of our 2nd release sets, The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom.  I fussy cut them all, and then started arranging the flowers on a square of light blue, so the flowers would pop from the background.

jmog_playdate2_B

The frame, from another May release set - The Write Stuff: Picture Perfect, was stamped in yellow and also trimmed out by hand, and then popped up on foam tape for added dimension. I can't wait to use this frame in my scrapbooking and project life albums. Can't you just see it on your instagram photos? {Walter - get ready!!!}  The "sending you" and "love" sentiments are from You've Got Love Mail and the everyday stamp is also from The Write Stuff: Picture Perfect, all stamped in gray flannel ink.

Super Colorful! Super Sweet!  Super Fun!

What?!  What's that you say?!  You want to come over and play???  Sure!!!  We would love that!  You still have some time - You have until June 15, 2014 at 11: 55 p.m. (central standard time) to link up.

And, if you want to play some more, you can link up ANYTIME on our Join in to Win page.  You can enter both and enter multiple times.  Just make sure to use at least 1 winnie & walter product on your project to participate!  We can't wait to see what you create!

Happy Stamping!
