October 2019 Color Combo (Challenge)

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you! Last month (for the second time in a row) we stretched the challenge for two months, since I was traveling to Italy with a friend in September for two weeks, and that gave me extra time off to enjoy that trip!

Here is my color inspiration for this month - I love the warm colors, perfect for this time of year and the thoughts of cozy days inside and books to read seem wonderful:

I began this card by creating an inked heart on the background. To do this, I used the coordinating die for From the Bottom of my Heart to create a stencil, then blended on distress oxide inks in Scattered Straw, Rusty Hinge, and Festive Berries. I also added some black splatters to the background with some Pinkfresh Studio Licorice Liquid Watercolors.

Next I die cut one of the "thanks" words from In a Word: Thanks Coordinating Dies two times, once from black cardstock, and once from white cardstock with Everegreen Bough Distress Oxide Ink blended on to custom color my sentiment to coordinate with the Color Combo.

Finished off by adhering the die cut words together slightly offset for a shadow effect, adhering them to my card base, and stamping a coordinating sentiment underneath with In a Word: Thanks stamp set.

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! I absolutely LOVED everyone's take on this challenge photo! So much fun to see how everyone used it! I wanted to pick everyone, but had to limit myself to these three!

First up - I'm loving this artsy card by Jenny Martin - such a lovely card, and great take on the challenge inspiration!

Next up, I love that Experiments in Craft was inspired much like me by the fun background on the challenge photo! And I love the touch of glitter she added to this fabulous card!

And finally, we have this card by Deepti...beautiful background, LOVE those hearts, and the sentiment is perfection!

One randomly selected entry will receive a $25 gift certificate to Winnie and Walter. I can't wait to see your entries this month!

May Color Combo with Heather (Challenge)

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you!

Here is my color inspiration for this month - coming from a beautiful photo I found on Pinterest! To me it looked like an ink blended background - so that is the direction I went on my sample card. Can't wait to see how you all interpret it!

I masked off the bottom of a panel of white cardstock, then blended 3 colors of distress inks over the top portion: Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon, and Seedless Preserves!

I also added some white splatters, then peeled off the masking tape at the bottom. Since it looked like a night sky, I colored up the adorable kitties from Purrfect with Evelin T Designs in simple Warm Gray Copic shades, and die cut them with the coordinating dies. The sentiment is a combination of Wishing You with Evelin T Designs and In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals, with part of the sentiment heat embossed on a strip of black cardstock and popped up with foam adhesive. I also popped the kitties up with foam adhesive.

Finished off with a simple white frame cut with Essentials: Audrey Cutaways - one of my favorite scallop frame dies! I trimmed my inked panel small enough to layer over the top of it, then popped the entire thing on a dark gray cardbase.

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! I loved seeing everyone's take on the neutral colors - such a fun and different style of cards!

First up - this STUNNING card by Rosali! Perfect use of neutrals - and could that little bird be any cuter?!?!?

Next up, an amazing use of super bright and soft neutrals - mostly white by Rahmat! It is hard to make a card with this much white, but she nailed it with all those lovely layers and textures - bravo!!!

Then we have this amazing card from Shona Chambers - THUD! Am I right? Elegant perfection right here folks! Beautiful work!

April Color Combo with Heather H. (Challenge)

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you!

Here is my color inspiration for this month - even though it feels a bit odd to call it a "color" inspiration...since this month we are kind of skipping the color part! My challenge this month is go all neutral - so black, white, and any shade in between of gray or brown or otherwise neutral color! This can be such a fun way to stretch and try something new - and can make a truly elegant card!

I went super soft and simple with my colors - lots of white space, a touch of gray and black, and some fun layering!

I started off using In Bloom: Paulina's Greenery Cutaways - cutting the bottom layer from vellum, and the top layer from white cardstock. I layered them together offset on my card front for some fun dimension. I then used In a Word: Thanks Cutaway and die cut it once from white cardstock, and once from gray - again layering them slightly offset for some dimension - then mounting with foam on my card. I added a tiny stamped sentiment from Sentimental: Thanks (a recent free set with one of the new releases - and should be released soon on it's own!) on a strip of  white cardstock, and a bit of jute string to finish off with a bit of texture!

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! ! So without further ado, here they are!

First up - I love this beautiful background with the challenge colors by Janis! Such a great use of the challenge colors - beautiful work!

Next up, look at this floral yumminess from Deepti! SOOO lovely - and perfect use of those colors as well!

Then we have this lovely bold take with the colors from June - I love how they are the same colors, but with a slightly softer and more vintage twist!

And finally, I love this soft and pretty take from Rahmat! The texture on that heart is amazing - make sure and check out the detail shot on her blog!

CHALLENGE INFO: New challenge will post on the second Monday of each Month, and will end on the Friday before the next challenge begins to allow time to pick a winner and some favorite entries to feature. One randomly selected entry will receive a $25 gift certificate to Winnie and Walter. I can't wait to see your entries this month!

September Color Combo with Heather H. (Challenge)

UPDATED: with extended deadline!

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you! As summer turns to fall, I decided to start working on some fall cards, which naturally fit so well with thank you cards!

Here is my color inspiration for this month - we have recently been so enjoying all the yummy fresh peaches in season. Eating at LEAST one a day! So here is the color inspiration I chose:

I created my stamped background using In Bloom: Renee's Leaves and a variety of different peach toned inks from Simon Says Stamp, and did some simple outlining with two shades of a Copic Warm Gray marker. I then die cut the panel using Essentials: Audrey Cutaways for a fun scallop edge, and added some glittery green splatters using some Altenew Shimmer Spray.

The sentiment was die cut from black cardstock with In a Word: Thanks Cutaways, and sewn onto a strip of vellum with torn edges. I then tucked some small pieces of foam adhesive behind the word and attached it to my panel, then attached that panel to a soft gray cardbase.

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! It was so hard to narrow it down! I loved seeing everyone's take on the challenge - whether using the color combo I gave, or coming up with their own. Sooo...I decided to pick two people that used the given color combo, and

First up - this absolutely gorgeous card by Shona Chambers! Love how she rocked the bold colors, and all the fun layers and details! Seriously beautiful!

Next up, Marlena createdt his totally fun and whimsical Christmas card! Love the playful feel to it, and the fun layers! Bravo!

Next up, this coloring made my jaw drop! WOW! Pooja created this stunning card - make sure and head to her blog to see her fun color combo that inspired this!

And finally, I adore the color combo that Greta H picked for her fun graphic card! What a clever way to use that stamp set to create a wreath - LOVE this so much!

>>>RANDOMLY CHOSEN WINNER<<<

No. 18 | Greta H
Greta's card is elegant and clever.  I love her hand-stamped wreath and the colors are soothing and sophisticated.
