July Leading Lady Jessica Lin | Take Two

Our July Leading Lady, Jessica Lin is back for her sensational second performance!  If you missed her smashing debut you must see it...CLICK HERE.   Today she brings you another duet with an awesome custom background!

Ladies and gentlemen, Jessica....

Good morning crafty friends! I'm back with some more Leading Lady projects. This week I decided to focus on a favorite product of mine: the Typecast: Cary stamp set.

I needed to make some cards for my cousins, Sarah and Sophia, to thank them for planning our New York trip last month. And I wanted to customize them to make these thank you cards extra special... Did you see what I did? Yes! I spelled out their names with the Typecast: Cary alphabets and stamped them with VersaMark ink to create a personalized background. It's fairly subtle but I hope it'll put a smile on their faces when they notice it. :)

For the focal point of the card, I used the In a Word: Thanks Cutaway (I think the font matches so nicely with the Typecast: Cary set!) and die cut it from lime green glitter cardstock and white cardstock. Next I layered them together and mounted them with foam. Then I stamped the small "MANY" (from Sentimental: Birthday set) on a tiny banner and adhered it to the card with foam tape. I embellished the card with silver thread and some enamel dots and that finishes off the card!

For Sophia's card, I used the From the Bottom of My Heart stamp set. I tried embossing it with Ranger's Enchanted Gold embossing powder but for some reason I didn't get good coverage even with two layers of embossing. (left photo) So I tried stamping with Hero Arts Soft Vanilla shadow ink first before embossing, and got a much better result. (right photo)

I also embellished this card with silver thread and enamel dots to complete the design. I really love how versatile these alphabet stamps are; you can also stamp "THANK YOU" for the background and I think it'll be fun to stamp "XMAS" or "XOXO" for other occasions cards. Really, the sky is the limit! I really enjoyed creating these cards, and I hope you liked them, too.

July Color Combo with Heather H. (Challenge)

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you! Thanks again to everyone who has played along so far - make sure and look for winners and a few featured players at the bottom of this post!

And here is my color inspiration for this month:

This month I decided to go with something summery, but (hopefully!) cool and refreshing as well! This image jumped out at me on Pinterest - so I went with it! I decided to use From the Bottom of My Heart (a previous release's free with purchase stamp set that is now available to purchase on it's own) and pair it up with it's new coordinating From the Bottom of My Heart Cutaways and Scenery: Spotty Creative Screenings. I first created my background by using the stencil with a tone on tone ink, then turning it and using a white ink for a two tone ombre background. The heart I stamped in green on a soft green cardstock - and then stamped the larger words in in white to make them pop a little more. I die cut it with the coordinating die, then attached with foam adhesive over a bundle of silver thread. The front panel was cut with Essentials: Katharine Cutaways, then mounted on a white cardbase with a few sequins for extra sparkle and fun.

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! Every single project was lovely, but I thought I'd give a shout out to a few that especially caught my eye!

First up - this GORGEOUS little number by Mayras Designs - LOVE how she added the stripes to the die cut word - and all the lovely layers with all that white space!

And then this unique take on it - Maria F. took the inspiration in such a soft and CAS way - so striking!

Then Jessica Lin's take with ink blending for a bold and gorgeous look! LOVE!

I adore Marlena M's cascade of pretty flowers - I love the way she stamped the solid flower images in the solid colors and then added the black lines to incorporate that element from the inspiration photo!

And finally - this GORGEOUS floral watercolor work of art by Andrea Shell - those flowers are so stunning, and the bold sentiment and baker's twine is the perfect touch!

>>>THE GOOD STUFF<<<

Let's get to the fun part and see these products in action.

Shay

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments!  I completely agree about Jessica's, Crystal's and the Talent's projects...they are breathtaking.

I have a couple cards for you today.

shay_IMG_4152

My first card uses the new free with purchase stamp set, Happy Birthday to You.  When I created this birthday cake I knew I wanted to play with having one of Evelin's precious critters on top of it so that is exactly what I did with this card.

shay_IMG_4153

I began by inking up the cake with Distress Inks and stamped it on white cardstock and then cut it out.  I smoothed some of the ink by using the water brush over the image being careful not mess up the white parts of the image.  I stamped the incredibly adorable elephant from Happy Dance with Evelin T Designs (more about this stamp set later this week) in black ink and then colored in the elephant with Distress Ink and a water brush and cut it out with the coordinating cutaways.  On the white card base I stamped the outline tulip and leaves from In Bloom: Carolina's Florals with Angelica Suarez in grey ink around the edges.  I then sprinkled inks over the card.  I then adhered the cake and elephant onto the card with dimensional adhesive.

The next card I made using Big Balloon Cutaways which although a really simple die set is something that is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

shay_IMG_4154

I created a mask with the largest balloon die and using a blending tool and Distress Inks in shades of yellow and then went over the balloon with the water brush which gave a wonderful streaky effect.  I cut out the balloon panel with the larger rectangle panel from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways.  I stamped the sentiment "hoping your birthday is" from Sentimental: Birthday and stamping happy 3 times from Happy Birthday to You.  I then added the highlight cut from white card stock onto the balloon.

On the card base I stamped Mini Scenery: Spotty numerous times with yellow ink before I attached the balloon panel to the card base with dimensional adhesive.

That's it from me today, but there is still so much to see from the tremendous Talent and guests.  Please be sure to click the links to their blogs and leave them some love.
