Coffee Lovers Bloghop + Freebie

coffeeloversbloghop

Welcome to the w&w blog fellow coffee lovers (and those who don't love coffee are equally as welcome)!  We are so excited to be able to participate in this bloghop hosted by our friends, Chaitali Narla and Amy Tsuruta!

We (Julie + Shay) were able to get our craft on for the event.  See what we've made and make sure to read the whole post for a little surprise with love from us. :-)

And make sure to play along and get all the (coffee) scoop HERE for inspiration, information and prizes!

>>>JULIE<<<

Coffee – yes please!  What a great idea for a day to celebrate this yummy beverage.  I have fond memories of coffee, like when my grandfather used to pour strong black coffee on his saucer and let me sip it.  I can remember the bitter taste, and I would wrinkle up my nose, but I kept coming back for more.  LOL  Then, I had a long break from coffee, until I was having lunch with a fellow choir member, who in her sassy, sage advice told me “Everyone must learn to drink coffee.  You never know if it will be the only beverage served.” I promptly poured myself half a cup, and filled it with lots and lots of cream and sugar.  Uh oh – I was hooked!

I made two cards and I couldn’t decide between them, so here is my “double shot of caffeine” for you today.

jmog_coffeebloghop1

I went stamp drawer diving to find this coffee stamp I have had for ages, and I think I’ve only used it once, sadly.  I stamped the image in Versamark on vellum and wiped away the coffee line, and then embossed in white embossing powder.  I colored the back of the vellum and added a little white paper and foam tape to make the colors show better since the cardstock behind was dark brown. The sentiments “sending you” and “love” are from w&w  You’ve Got Love Mail, and they are also stamped in Versa and embossed in white.  The fun limeade foam thickers have been staring at me for ages and begging to be used, and COFFEE seemed the perfect place to use them.  The brown panel is cut with the Stitched Borders 1 curved border and sprinkled with sparkling clear sequins – both from Pretty Pink Posh.

jmog_coffeebloghop2

For the next coffee card, I downloaded a silhouette die cut by Jen Martakis (Coffee cup to go), and decorated the cup with the retro star from w&w Big Bang Confetti and filled some of the open stars with the solid stars in three shades of distress inks.  I used the same inks to softly color the cup, cozie and heart.  I’ve always liked the sentiment “thanks a latte” and thought it would work perfectly here.  I used the thanks in the w&w Big Bold You Cut Files and set an offset of 0.0125 to give just a little more substance to the word.  Then, I added small pieces of foam tape to the word where it was not connected to the cup cozie, giving it some stability.  I love it in white standing out in front of the cup, and the addition of Basic Grey dark brown stickers to finish the sentiment.  If you look closely, you can also see the faint sparkle of my new Wink of Stella pen on the heart, stars and on all of the sentiment.  I must be the last person on the planet to get this pen.  I am in LOVE!!!!

I hope these cards left you percolating (tee hee) some fabulous card designs of your own and hope you join us over at the hop.

>>>SHAY<<<

Hello!  I am sure Julie's cards have perked you right up (ha ha).  I went through my little bucket of printables from our The Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1 (it includes pdfs which are so easy to print and cut out) as that collection features some coffee images and sentiments.  I paired the printables with the bright, vibrant and funky patterns from the Soho Garden 6x6 paper pad by American Crafts as they include a fun teacup or coffee cup (in my case) patterned paper.

shay_coffeebloghop1

To be honest this is my second card as my first met with a craftatrophe.  I went with a mix of strips of patterned paper, printables (elements + wood grain icons), washi and paper pieced pennants using the smaller outline pennant from Scenery: It's a Wonderful Pennant stamped in black ink.  The sentiment is pretty appropriate as I do drink coffee everyday as I am *not* a morning person.  This card would be great for a friend who loves coffee and to make it even better is a gift card inside to allow them to indulge in their caffeine fix.  Coffee enabling is okay, right?

shay_coffeebloghop2

Now we have something for all of you coffee lovers or to craft for the coffee lovers in your life!  We love you guys (and coffee)!

Leading Lady Lyndal Higgins | Take Four

It is a bittersweet task we have today as this is the last performance by Lyndal Higgins as this month's Leading Lady.  She has dazzled us with her creativity, humor and talent.  She has been spectacular in every way and it is hard to see the month end.  At least we can always go back and revisit what she has done for Take One, Take Two and Take Three (click on any of Takes to be taken to those posts).  And then she does not disappoint at all with her last projects.  They are personal, fun and delightful.  Lyndal, you are a treasure and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Now,  it's time for Lyndal to shine....

Hi there Winnie and Walter friends and fans, so soon the month has flown by, and I have had a blast! Happy and sad to be bringing you my fourth and final installment of Winnie and Walter Leading Lady inspiration, but the best news is, not long to wait til the next fabulous Winnie and Walter new release!

It's your last week to leave a comment on my blog to be in the running for a fabulous Winnie and Walter $30 gift voucher.

For my final week, I thought I'd go back to my paper crafting origins and bring you some scrapbook layouts featuring Winnie and Walter.

SCRAP THAT!

First up, a layout about My Happy Place, featuring Winnie and Walter The Big, the Bold and the HappyThe Big, the Bold and FunThe Big, the Bold and Blessingsand The Write Stuff: Picture Perfect stamps with The Big, the Bold and Seasons cut file.

In this layout I focused on keeping my sets of three elements in a triangle, focused on the photo, for example three The Big, the Bold and Seasons cut file suns, three patterned paper circles, three asterisks, and each patterned paper/colour also appears three times in a triangle. The "my happy", "so many joyful memories" and "family time at the beach and date" are all created from a combination of Winnie and Walter stamps. The base paper is Pink Paislee, with the other papers a combination of American Crafts, Bo Bunny and Simple Stories. The mis-matched "place" is covered with Simple Stories woodgrain paper, to tie in with the painted wooden beach huts.

Next up, a more CAS layout about my Autumn daughter, featuring Winnie and Walter Digital Elements A Tree for All Seasons tree and leaves, together with A Tree for All Seasons stamped leaves and small sentiment and The Big, The Bold and Seasons Autumn sentiment.
The large A Tree for All Seasons tree was cut out in reverse from Pebbles patterned paper and a sheet of scrap paper. I used the scrap paper version as a guide for stamping the leaves on the kraft background. To achieve more of an Autumn effect with variations in the colour of the leaves, I stamped them in Momento Luxe Morocco, and rocked the stamp from side to side or top to bottom as I was stamping, rather than stamping straight down as I normally would. The fussy cut leaves are a base of watercolour paper with Luminarte paints, the smaller ones are overstamped in Momento Luxe Lilac Posies, and the larger one was fussy cut using the cut-file template from last weeks Season Shakers. The sentiments were also stamped in Momento Luxe Lilac Posies.

Last but not least...
I am the first to admit I am a TOTAL novice at digital scrapbooking, but when Walter and Winnie have such gorgeous digital elements at such reasonable prices (you can even download the digital elements I used for FREE!), how could I resist giving it a go. I am so glad I did, as this A4 sized layout took me all of 5 minutes to create, and being digital it you can print it out any size you wish! The background, glitter buck and two sentiments are all from the Winnie and Walter The Daily Grind Collection Vol. 1: Holiday Mint Add-On.
Kinda makes me wish it was Christmas already!

Just wanted to say, thank you so much for inviting me Julie and Shay,
it has been an honour and a privilege!

Autumn with Heather

Hi, everyone! Heather P. here today with a fall-themed card I created using one of my favorite sets, The Big, the Bold and Seasons, and a somewhat unusual color combo.  I am obsessed with gray these days, and I love that it pairs up nicely with the patterned papers I selected for today's card.  Rust, gray, cream and aqua aren't colors that I would normally use together, but I really like how they turned out!

To create my card, I started by cutting two pieces of patterned paper, and used a 1/4" corner rounder on two of the edges on each piece.  I wrapped the plaid pattern paper with jute twine, and adhered it to the card base with pop dots.  Next, I stamped the flourish pattern paper with Autumn in versamark ink, then heat embossed with platinum powder before adhering it to the card front with pop dots.

I then cut a 1/8" strip of light gray card stock, and adhered it to the card front (making sure to slide it underneath the twine) before covering it with stickles.  I tied the jute twine and secured with a double bow.  To finish up, I embellished with aqua buttons.

Well, that wraps it up for me today, but be sure to stop by again tomorrow for more fabulousness with Leading Lady Lyndal Higgins!

Boldly Laura

Hey everyone! It's Laura here and I'm very happy to be bringing you another project. For my card, I was inspired by Kate Spade erasers. (Click HERE to see the picture.). The stripes and bright colors made my heart happy.

laura_9242014_IMG_4396

First, I adhered a tiny strip of bright lime paper on a standard size card. I used a scrap op patterned paper from the Summer Lovin' paper pad from Carta Bella, but any lime cardstock would work. Then, I took a piece of white cardstock (measures 4 1/4 inch x 5 1/4 inch) and adhered strips of washi black washi tape. At first, I didn't know what to do so I adhered some Pretty Pink Posh sequins and wood veneer stars on that piece.

laura_9242014_IMG_4397

After adhering the striped piece on my card using foam adhesive, it was time for a sentiment. I die cut a small tag and heat embossed some sparkly stars on there using the Winnie & Walter Big Bang Confetti stamp set. Then, I created an ombré look using a lime colored ink. For the greeting, I heat embossed two stamps from the Bubble Talk stamp set. This is my favorite Winnie & Walter stamp set. Why? Because I love those two fonts together! :)

That's it for today! Thank you so much stopping by!

Autumn Leaves with Vanessa

Hello everyone! Vanessa here today with a card inspired by the falling leaves. Although I am a summer person, I love the colors of fall. And creating fall-themed projects! The new "A Tree for All Seasons" stamps and the matching digital elements make it so easy to create fun projects for this time of the year. I played with the acorn leaf from the Digital Elements set for this card:

vanessa_graditudeleaves

To create this, I die-cut larger versions of the beautiful leaf from white cardstock. Then I used an ink blending tool and various Distress Inks to color them. Starting on the edges, I applied more and more ink in circular motions until I was satisfied. On some leaves, I used a darker color for the edges. I trimmed a kraft cardstock panel slightly smaller than the red cardbase, inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and adhered it to the card. Then I stamped my sentiment onto the largest leaf and adhered the leaves to the card. For more dimension, I used foam tape for the top leaves. Finally, I added some orange sequins.

You could make a whole bunch of cards this way, perfect for Thanksgiving! Just die-cut lots of leaves and ink them in various colors and you are almost finished. It is so much fun to create them!
Thanks for visiting today, I hope to have inspired you!

Leading Lady Lyndal Higgins | Take Three

We are profoundly privileged to present to you Lyndal Higgins for her triumphant return as Leading Lady.  If you have not had the fortune of seeing her previous turns CLICK HERE for her first performance and CLICK HERE for her second. Now the moment you've been waiting for....

Hi there again Winnie and Walter friends and fans, it's that time again! It is an honour to bring you the next installment of Winnie and Walter Leading Lady inspiration. I hope you have been enjoying it so far, I know I have!

Wherever you are in the world, September sees you entering a new season, whether it be Spring, Autumn or Fall! So I thought I'd shake things up a little and create a Winnie and Walter seasonal celebration with...

SEASONAL SHAKERS...
The front panels for each of the shaker cards are created using Winnie and Walter cut files - Winter, Spring and Summer The Big, The Bold and the Seasons, and Autumn A Tree for all Seasons.

To create a shaker card you will also need:

  • Fabulous Winnie and Walter stamps
  • White cardstock for front panel and card base
  • Clear acetate sheet from your local office supply store
  • Foam sheet from your local craft store
  • Patterned paper (or be brave and make your own!)
  • (Lots) of double-sided tape!
  • Sequins
  • Circle die

Shaker cards are fun to make, but they can be tricky to photograph!

First up, "Winter Wishes"...
Layer 1: White cardstock cut using this gorgeous snowflake cut file from Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Seasons, and stamped in Soft Pool and Pool inks with Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Seasons sentiment. The cardstock is adhered with double-sided tape to...
Layer 2: a sheet of clear acetate, cut to the same size as the white cardstock front, then adhered using double-sided tape to...
Layer 3: a foam rectangle the same size as the white cardstock front, with a circle die-cut piece removed and the remaining "void" filled with a combination of silver snowflake sequins and some special "thank you" sequins from my last Winnie & Walter order, then sealed with double-sided tape to...
Layer 4: the patterned paper background panel, then adhered using double-sided tape to...
Layer 5: the card base.

Next up "Spring Flowers"...
Featuring this cute flower cute file from Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Seasons, and stamped in Pear Tart and Angel Pink Momento Luxe inks with Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Seasons sentiment, and filled with sequins.

Next up "Celebrate Sun / Summer"
Featuring this fun sun cut file from Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Seasons, and stamped in Dandelion and Rose Bud Momento Luxe inks with Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Seasons sentiment (highlighting "sun" in yellow ink), and filled with sequins.

And last but not least "Autumn Bliss"...
Featuring this fabulous leaf cut file from Winnie and Walter A Tree for all Seasons, and stamped in Lilac Posies and Morocco Momento Luxe inks with Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Seasons sentiment, and filled with sequins and glass beads and the background panel created using Luminarte paints on watercolour paper.

I hope you are inspired to try and create your own shaker card - no matter the season!

Once again, a HUGE thanks to Shay and Julie for their generosity, and for this fabulous opportunity!
