May Documentarian Lilith Eeckels | Take Two (Video)

Our May Documentarian, Lilith Eeckels is back for her final performance.

Don't miss out on her introduction HERE or her first utterly charming layout HERE.

It has been such a privilege to have Lilith as our Documentarian this month.  Lilith's whimsical use of  pattern, color and design is so enchanting!  I hope you will try some of her techniques on your memory keeping projects or even on other crafting projects.

Today's projects are so full of wonder, joy and brightness!

Once again, Lilith....

Hello everyone.

Today I'll be sharing my last project (projects) for Winnie and Walter. For my double project I decided to create a layout and as I had some leftovers I created a quick card too.

I do this a lot. I LOVE making layouts but I also enjoy creating cards but as I don't have much time I usually don't get out all my supplies just for a card so usually once I have finished a layout I just create a card at the same time.

For my projects I went through my patterned paper stash and picked out some fun vibrant patterns that go together. I cut out different sized balloons and then started playing with the design on my layout.

I drew some string by hand and also added a couple of bows that are on the die set to the balloons. For the embellishments I used some old stickers and chipboard elements.

The card was really simple and I used the same ideas as in the layout.

You can see how the two came together in the video. Some of the creative process is missing due to a problem with uploading the videos. I lost some of the videos. I hope it gives you an ideas of how the layout and card were made.

Thank you so much for having me as May 2018 Documentarian Winnie and Walter. I loved creating with your products and will create many more.

May Documentarian Lilith Eeckels | Take One

It is time for the first project post by our May Documentarian, Lilith EeckelsDon't miss out on her introduction from last Friday==> CLICK HERE.  She has such an incredible layout for you today full of whimsy, heart and creativity!

Ladies and gentleman, Lilith....

Hello there everyone. I am thrilled to be the May Documentarian here at Winnie & Walter.
I got the chance to worked with them a couple of years ago and I loved it. I had so much fun creating with the stamps and die they sent me.

Today I will be sharing my first project which is a layout. I used The Framed With Evelin T design stamp set and paired it with the Kindness set. I had filmed the whole process but something went wrong when I uploaded my files and I lost them all.  So I'll explain how I created the layout.

I started by stamping the frames and then I added the tree, cactus and leaf shapes. For colour I used alcohol markers and blended different shades together. I choose three tones: pink, grey and green and used black for the stamped images.

To give the frames some depth and have the impression they pop off the page I added some shadow using a light grey alcohol marker.

I also added the shadow to the photo to tie all the elements together.

For my title I picked sentiments and words from the True stamp set. I added a touch of pink with stickers from sticker supply and chose some that would fit in with the layout.

My layouts are a reflection of me, my feelings and things I would like to say to my loved ones. They aren't always about events or places. Scrapbooking helps me express myself which is sometimes a little difficult as my husband and children only speak French but my mother tongues are Dutch and English. I miss expressing myself in these languages and crafting has helped me get my words and feelings out on paper.

A big thank you to Winner&Walter and I'll be back next week with another project.

>>>DOCUMENTARIAN DOSSIER<<<

Name: Lilith Eeckels

Family: I have been married for nearly 18 years and have 4 boys (Damien & Noé 14 years old, Robin 11 and Elouan 8)

Something you love about where you live? I live in a small village in the Belgian Ardennes. I love the stunning scenery and enjoy going for long walks.

Favorite (favourite) food memory? I LOVE LOVE LOVE fruit and vegetables and have found memories of picking fruit and veg in my mom’s garden in South Africa. We even had banana trees but never saw a banana as the monkeys beat us to them.

Your favorite (favourite) color combination to create with? Teal, Aqua and pink. I always seem to pick these hues and have to force myself to go with other colours.

How did you begin documenting memories? I started just after I got married in 2000  as I wanted to create a unique wedding album.

Who and/or what do you most enjoy documenting? My family and myself. It might seem strange but I have always struggled with my self image and would always stay well away from photos and getting my picture taken. Since I started using photos of myself my self confidence has grown and I have learnt to love myself.

What is your favorite (favourite) way of keeping memories? By far scrapbooking. I have tried my forms and enjoy all of them but I always go back to scrapbooking.

What tips/advice would you give someone just starting out? Just HAVE FUN and THERE ARE NO RULES. Do what you love and enjoy the process.

What 5 items are essential to you for creating (photos are a given and exempt)?
1.      patterned paper (I wish some would be wallpaper designs as I’d put them on every wall in my house)
2.      STAMPS. It is my new FAVOURITE product. So versatile.
3.      Dies. I love making my own embellishments and my star, butterfly and heart die are always nearby.
4.      Die cut machine.
5.      a pen (for journalling)

When do you need to feel inspired, who and/or what inspire you? I am constantly inspired as I am a very curious person always on the look out for new things to try. I feel inspired by so many crafters but I love looking at nature and drawing inspiration from ads.

Who are your favorite (favourite) documentarians?
My FAVOURITE is Stephanie Howell. I love her style and she is the sweetest person ever. She is inspiring in so many ways.

I also have a scrapbooking crush on Enza Gudor. Her work is OUT OF THIS WORLD. She in on the Altenew team with me and her projects blow me away each and every time.

Erum Tasneem. Boy can she colour. Her cards are mind blowing.

My list could go on and on but I narrowed it down to three.

Check back next Friday for Lilith's first project post!

>>>MEET LILITH<<<

lilithHeadshot

Hi. I'm Lilith. I was born in Leuven, Belgium on 26th January 1979. As a child I grew up in South Africa and my parents moved back to Europe when I was a teenager and settled in the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg. I now live in the South of Belgium in the Ardennes. I am a mother to four marvellous but mischievous boys (Damien, Noé (10), Robin (7) and Elouan (4)) and have been married to the most wonderful man for 14 years. I'm a  foreign language teacher. I teach Dutch and English to French speaking students and I LOVE it. Besides my passion for languages and teaching, there is also music, photography and on the top of my list SCRAPBOOKING. I started just after getting married as I wanted to make a wedding album. I really got hooked when my two eldest boys were born in 2003 and I haven't stopped since. It helps me unwind from my hectic days being a mum and teaching teenagers. Scrapbooking has made me realise that I can be creative and I love documenting my family's life. It has made me become more confident and willing to have a go.
