April Documentarian Jen Gallacher | Take Two

It is time for the second and final project post by our April Documentarian, Jen Gallacher.

Don't miss out on her introduction HERE or her first gorgeously layered layout HERE.

It has been such a privilege to have Jen as our Documentarian this month.  Her keen use of color, patterns, layering and exceptional skill at balancing her layouts are so inspiring!.  I hope you will try some of her techniques on your memory keeping projects or even on other crafting projects.

Today's layout is not only beautiful, but so very artfully executed!

Once again, Jen....

Stamping on a layout is a great way to add dimension and customized designs to a scrapbooking page. In this layout, I'll share some tips and tricks for using a stamp set to create a beautiful layout that features a wreath and diagonal design. Keep reading for some tips and to shop the beautiful stamps and dies from Winnie and Walter. Want to get your hands on some of these amazing products? Be sure to leave a comment on this blog post HERE for your chance to win a $30 Gift Certificate. All entries are due by April 30th, 2018 to qualify for the drawing.

How to Stamp on a Layout:

* Use stamping inks in the same color but in different tones. For the strawberries, I stamped a lighter red for the middle of the berry and then used a cherry red to stamp the seeds in the berries.THIS layered stamp set makes quick work of the details for this page.

* Use the corresponding die set to quickly cut out all of your stamped images.

* Layout out the shape of your wreath first. Then I go back and adhere each piece with glue dots or strong adhesive.

* Stamp your title and journaling in bright colors. I used green and yellow for the title and then stamped the journaling with bright, red ink.

* Create your own patterned paper. Repeatedly stamp an image onto cardstock to create a polka dot, stripe or random pattern. This way you can ensure you get the exact pattern you want to coordinate with the rest of your embellishments like the berries on this page.

Here's another look at this layout. Be sure to pin your favorite images for inspiration later!

April Documentarian Jen Gallacher | Take One

It is time for the first project post by our April Documentarian, Jen Gallacher. Don't miss out on her introduction from last Friday==> CLICK HERE.  I am so thrilled with the gorgeous layout she created and I have already learned so much!

Ladies and gentleman, Jen....

Have you tried using stamps on your scrapbooking layouts? Stamping for scrapbooking is an easy way to fully customize your scrapbooking layouts. I was super excited to use several die and stamp sets from Winnie and Walter to create this beautiful layout. Keep reading for some instructions on how I created this layout. Be sure to pin your favorite images for inspiration later!

How to Add Stamps to a Scrapbooking Layout:

Step 1: Use a stencil, a foam applicator, and yellow stamping to create a diagonal pattern on white cardstock.

Step 2: Using a variety of yellows and greens, stamp and die cut flowers, leaves, and a title for the layout.

Step 3: Use the stamp rectangle shape dies to die cut two different sizes of photo frames from green cardstock. This will require the use of a manual die cut machine.

Step 4: Using the manual die cut machine, cut a variety of shapes from purple patterned paper and black patterned paper.

Here's a look at the finished layout. You can see I added some additional embellishments, and journaling to make this page really pop. But most of my items are die cut, stenciled or stamped items from Winnie and Walter. What's so amazing about these types of projects is that I can continue to use these items for future projects. Now that's stretching your supplies.

April Documentarian Jen Gallacher | Introduction

Our second Documentarian is none other than Jen Gallacher!  I have been a big fan of Jen ever since she was a Garden Girl at Two Peas (do you remember them?).   She's so warm, friendly and shares such excellent information and tips in her videos.  Her work is eye-catching, bright, creative, well-balanced along with being visually stunning.   Jen is not only an accomplished memory keeper, but makes beautiful cards and paper crafts.  I was really lucky to get a chance to say hello to Jen in person this past January and I am so thrilled she is our Documentarian this month!

Jen Headshot Vertical

Name: Jen Gallacher

Family: I have 3 beautiful kids and am married to my best friend, Brett.

Something you love about where you live? We live near a bunch of farms and have one of the most beautiful mountains nearby that I can see right out my craft room window.

Favorite (favourite) food memory? My mom makes me carrot jello any time I’m sick. It’s orange jello with shredded carrots. My kids thinks it’s the weirdest thing ever, but I seriously feel so loved when I get it.

Your favorite (favourite) color combination to create with? Right now it’s yellow and teal.

How did you begin documenting memories? Many times I start with products because that reminds me of a story I want to tell. Then I will go hunting for photos to tell that story.

Who and/or what do you most enjoy documenting? I most enjoy documenting my kids, but they are getting older so now I’m trying to include more of myself in my scrapbooks.

What is your favorite (favourite) way of keeping memories? I love scrapbooking that includes my favorite photos, a sweet message to my kids, and a mix of things that are beautiful and make me happy.

What tips/advice would you give someone just starting out? Don’t get overwhelmed. Just pick one story and tell it. Your style and your approach will evolve over time. Find the love first!

What 5 items are essential to you for creating (photos are a given and exempt)?   Small tone-on-tone patterned paper designs. Ephemera Packs. Enamel Dots. Phrase stamps. Something with texture: twine, crepe paper, tassels, etc.

When do you need to feel inspired, who and/or what inspire you? Pinterest and YouTube. I always spend about an hour at the end of the day getting inspired for the rest of the week.

Who are your favorite (favourite) documentarians? Oh sooooo many. Right now I’m loving Jen Schow, Lorelei from Rosey Posey Studios, Paige Evans, Vicki Boutin, Becki Adams, and soooo many more.

Check back next Friday for Jen's first project post!
