Spades of Spring with Kelly

Hi folks! Kelly here to share a project I made for a recent card exchange. About 20 crafty friends got together, made 20 of the same card, and exchanged them. Since I was making so many of the same card, it had to be quick to put together, but I also wanted to make something a little different.

I thought it might be fun to make a birthday card that can be customized with the birthday year of the recipient by using playing cards. The idea is that you can make the recipient's age by combining the cards as appropriate (i.e., a 37th birthday would be made with the 3 card and the 7 card). This would be especially fun to give to someone who loves playing games, poker in Vegas, bridge club, etc.

The stamping is super-easy, using a sentiment from the classic Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and the Happy set. This is the beauty of Winnie & Walter stamps, you don't need to go through a lot of effort to get a great result ... the gorgeous stamps stand all on their own!

I made a pocket on the front by just adhering the left, right and bottom of the panel. This allows people to slide in whatever playing cards they need to create the age of the recipient. I brought two decks of cards to the exchange so people would have enough to choose from (a single deck goes a long way with the same number in all four suits!)

These were so quick to make that I ended up with a few extras for myself. I love personalizing cards for people with either their name or their age. They know for sure the card was made especially for them.

Thanks so much for looking!
