Don't miss out on Day 1 of Share the Love Week featuring Simon Says Stamp focusing upon rainbow color/colour palatte.
Welcome, welcome to our second day Share the Love Week featuring Simon Says Stamp! This is a fun-filled week where we show how much we love Simon Says Stamp by using their products with Winnie & Walter products. We share projects and challenge you to participate too for a chance to win!
Simon Says Stamp not only carries an amazing array of products, but their brand is fabulous! It is always a pleasure to see what products they are releasing next. It was a dream to play with Simon Says Stamp products with our own.
Today our challenge is: 10 Minute Dash! Do you remember how Paulina of Pretty Pink Posh used to have the 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge? Well in her honor we are bringing it back as a challenge for today. Make a project in just 10 minutes or less!!! So get out your watch, stopwatch or phone and time yourself. We want to see how long your project took you!
Julie
Well, I have been nit-picking this card ever since I made it and then I said - "STOP!" It really is pretty cute, especially knowing it was a 10 min dash card. And, especially when you need to know that I think I've only ever made one card in under 10 minutes (not including this one) LOL!
For my inspiration, I used the current Playdate No.3 sketch (there is still time to play) and some of the colors for my card. I used the really cute Thought Bubble set from Simon Says Stamp offset at the top. The purple chalk ink wasn't as vibrant on the kraft cardstock as I had planned, but still works well. The sentiments from both SSS and from w&w Big Bold sets (Happy and Seasons) work well together - even if they aren't lined up - LOL oops!!! The heart from Parentville Extras is stamped in three more colors from the inspiration and popped off the card, but look like they are on the gold cord. The card felt like it needed a bit more, so I found some sequins in coordinating colors.
Here is a photo of my times - LOL - nothing ever seems to work out when I do a timed challenge. No - this wasn't completed in 4 1/2 minutes. Try 15:32! Then, add in all the time from pausing the timer to answer the phone, and doggy distractions, it was 24 minutes. The sad thing is, this is still pretty fast for a card from me. Still - I love a challenge!
Shay
To be honest I did my planning for my card off the clock. Julie and I were on the same wavelength! I chose to use the Playdate No. 3 Challenge so then I had my colors and sketch already chosen (don't forget to enter! The chosen winner is our guest star for our October Release and they will receive the entire release to play with...it will be mighty fine folks!) . One tip I have is to use challenges to take some of the pressure off you and save some time! I collected my possible supplies around me (how much is time is wasted finding the right supplies?) and started the clock.
I inked up the Moroccan Background stamp with Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow Inks in butter bar, orange soda, stone wash, raspberry jam and grape juice. I didn't put the stamp on a block and simply inked it up and kept the stamp ink right side up and placed the cardstock on top of it. To keep from getting inky myself I placed a piece of typing paper over the white cardstock and stamp and pressed firmly over the cardstock to get a good impression.
I used the heat gun to hastily dry the ink before stamping the congrats from The Big, the Bold and You in Versamark ink and heat embossing it with gold embossing powder. Then I stamped the "it's your birthday" from Bubble Talk in black ink. Next I used a 3/4" punch to punch the notches on either side and wrapped gold thread around (and around) and strung some sequins from an older kit from Studio Calico onto the thread before attaching it to the back of the panel with washi. I adhered the notched panel onto an A2 cardbase with foam dimensional adhesive and voila!
I had to quickly sign back into my phone and turn off the stopwatch and whew I just, just made in under 10 minutes!
Now that you have seen what Julie and I have done let's see what magic Gayatri, Heather, Kelly, Laura and Vanessa have weaved in just 10 minutes!
