Let's Hear it for the Boys

Hello there ladies and gents!  It's Shay here.

I am stepping in with a couple of cards I made for my twin cousins who turned 7 earlier this month!  I had a chance to spend time with them this summer when they visited and one of my cousins even did some art with me.

I actually enjoy making cards for guys whatever the age and Scenery: V for cheVron is an awesome stamp to have on hand for such cards.

I recently bought some Crate Paper products from the Boys Rule collection and the timing could not have been more fortunate!  The twins also have some very definite ideas on favorite colors: one is all for orange and the other blue.

I began the cards by inking up the big chevron (mad love for that stamp!) with spiced marmalade and salty ocean Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger.  I love the texture Distress Ink lends and each color looks like it was added with a different technique.

Then I just added a frame, vellum elements and chipboard stickers and layered them up using a tiny attacher.  Then I added a strip of white cardstock stamped with "dude" in chipped sapphire Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger from Bubble Talk.

Then I layered the chevron on a blue piece of cardstock for the orange card and a piece of old orange polka dot patterned paper by My Mind's Eye for the blue card.  Last, I placed each card front onto a white card base.
