October Leading Lady Maya Isaksson | Take Five

Maya_Isaksson_october2016
October is waning which sadly means it is our last Saturday with our outrageously outstanding October Leading Lady, Maya Isaksson.  The last five weeks with Maya have been rich with inspiration, artistic touches, fun, texture, color and awesome projects.  Maya always adds something new and unexpected to her cards which make them a marvel to behold.  I feel so fortunate Maya shared her talents with us this month!

If you missed her smashing debut you must see it...CLICK HERE or her sensational second performance adding an unexpected element CLICK HERE or her triumphant third performance taking on stripes CLICK HERE or her fabulous fourth performance featuring practically-perfect patterned paper projects CLICK HERE.

Lucky for us all we have her final command performance today.

It's time for my last performance here as Leading Lady, I have really enjoyed my time here and I really loved getting so many kind comments. I have saved my favourite post for last, this weeks theme are shaker cards! I LOVE making shaker cards. It's so rewarding seeing the movement and listening to the filling shake around inside. There are so many ways to make a good shaker card, you can really do anything, and especially with great dies like the cutaways.

When I got this big diamond cutaway I knew I had to make a shaker out of it. It's called Flawless Diamond Cutaways and it's super pretty! I made the backing out of white glitter paper and the detailed outlines with gold glitter paper. Use Stick It or double sided adhesive sheets on the back of the detailed diecut because it's super thin lines and you don't want glue all over the acetate. I used distress ink to make the surrounding of the shaker window and diecut it out using the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways and Essentials: Katharine Cutaways to diecut it and a white backing for a pretty framing. The word shine is from The Big, the Bold and Fun Cutaways. I also gold embossed the word you from The Big, the Bold and Comfort. The colors on the background was taken from the sequins in Walter's Sparkly Shaker Selection.

The next card was made with the In a Word: Kisses Cutaway as a shaker window. I made the woodgrain with Scenery: Into the Woods and ink blending on Kraft cardstock. I used my Spectrum Noirs to make a gradient pink background for the backing of the shaker window and also the banner. I love making my own custom paper, it's so easy to find the perfect shade that way. I used the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways for cutting out the Kraft panel. I used some clear seed beads from my stash and some white sequins to tie in the white border around the card that frames it and lightens it up a bit. The sentiment is white embossed on a banner from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways. I use the Essential dies for so much, they are great basics to have in your die collection.

For the last card I started with an ink blended panel, I used the Scenery: Pattern of the Rings Creative Screenings with my distress inks. I also splattered some gold ink on top of it since I planned to use some gold accents on my card. I diecut three banner shapes using Essentials: Katharine Cutaways and made them my shaker windows. I filled them with different sized material, the top one is Winnie's Sparkly Shaker Selection.I did think the sentiments was perfect for a shaker, where the filling could be the seeds of Kindness. It's from Kindness with Evelin T Designs stamps and cutaways. I made a thin frame combining the both Essentials cutaways because the card was sort of missing something. I think it was just what it needed to sort of enclose the busy inside in a way.
