I have been in a very silvery / sparkly mood lately, so why not make a card that embodies that same feel. I bought some shimmery cardstock years ago that I have been hoarding and this aqua color looked so great with this paper heart cut from a page of my 6x6 Yours Truly paper pack by Pebbles. This heart is cut using the coordinating cut files for The Write Stuff: Love Story and popped up with foam tape. The arrows and sentiment are all stamped and embossed with Versamark ink and Sterling Silver EP from Stampin' Up! For some added sparkle, I punched a small heart from some glitter tape I put on a piece of cardstock and added a strip of the same tape to the card edge.
I am a little behind on my Project Life, but thought this was the perfect time to do a few cards about our little boy, Walter! Plus, you can get to know him a little better too!
The background is stamped with both the 5 circle and the heart circle using a light brown chalk ink and I used the same ink to stamp the journal heart. I used a medium brown chalk ink to add the numbers to the journal heart. The numbers line up to fit with the lines so nicely. The red banner is cut by hand and stamped with the Love Note sentiment and embossed white. I used red chalk ink for the red 5 circle, the sentiment on the side of the journaling, and the one red heart that fits inside the circle heart. I added the word TOP to the card but didn't like it, so I decided to add it to the red 5 circle and then cover up my problem area. The tiny heart is from the You've Got Love Mail set we featured yesterday. This was so fun to make, and took no time at all.
This is my companion card (pun not intended, but still fun). Talk about super easy...I stamped the arrow in the dark brown chalk ink, and then added the 4EVER stamp which, like our sentiments yesterday, fit perfectly with our arrows!!! The sentiments in both sets are all the same length! :) I know!!! Great, right??? I added the friend from The Big, the Bold and the Happy set and embossed that with white also. The final touch was to add the Love You circle to the photo. Totes Adorbs!!!
Shay
The Write Stuff: Love Story marks the debut of The Write Stuff series of stamps. There is something so charming about stamps that are versatile among different crafting mediums. Personally I can't get enough of the journaling-centric stamp sets. I love to sprinkle them in with other sentiments or images. I hope you find this set as fun and easy to use as Julie and I hope. Perhaps it will begin your love story with winnie & walter (yes, I went there!).
My first card is an easy one. I stamped the heart circle many times in a Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow Ink called passion flower, a pink-purple color...my first time using it and I think it is pretty sweet color. Then I stamped one of the heart arrows and above that embossed love note twice in silver so it really stood out. I added a strip of silver glitter tape by American Crafts (serious love for this as it is glitter without the mess or fuss!).
Hello my name is Shay and I am a journaling card addict. You would think I did a lot of journaling with this particular addiction and sadly you would be wrong. I do however love using journaling cards on my cards. Case in point this little number above with incorporates not one journaling card, but two both of which come from Studio Calico's Blue Note Project Life kit.
I began this whole thing with stamping the ledger heart on vellum and patterned paper from Studio Calico's Cole kit. I also stamped the column of 1-5 on the hearts. I stamped the ticket and sentiments on the ticket. For the very delicate let me count the ways I recommend just pressing the stamp into the paper with a very slight pressure for best results. I attached the two ledger hearts with a library clip that Julie gave me ages ago...so darling. By using the clip a secret message or list could be written on the layer under the vellum. On the floral journaling card I stamped 4ever and the heart to cover the whole white portion. I added a nest of gold thread (sorry the gold's back) behind the hearts and then stuck it onto the floral journaling card. I had to add the mad love tab.
Now here is where this card gets interesting. The recent issue of Martha Stewart Living showed how to bend a ordinary paper clip into a heart shape. In my search for paper clips I found an unopened box of pearlized paper clips which just happened to have one in the perfect pink. Serendipity! A plan formed into my mind. Why not attach the floral journaling card to another journaling card in a way that the floral journaling card could be removed and be used in Project Life later on by the card recipient? That meant I had to make sure the card looked decent after that removal of the floral journaling card too. So on the striped journaling card I stamped the other heart arrow added the sentiment in Versamark and embossed it in white. I colored in the heart with my white Signo pen and also stamped the handwritten love circle in Versamark and embossed it again in white. What with the bold and gorgeous stripes I felt I was done at that. I mounted the striped journaling card to a white (what else?) card base that I flicked with sweet cherry Heidi Swapp Color Shine (got to follow Julie's lead on this!). And then I was done. I {heart} this color combination so much and hope to play with it again in the future. If you read through all this you deserve a medal!
