Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!!
I've been looking forward to this Saturday ever since the last Saturday, lol! That's because it means I'm able to bring you another post as Winnie & Walter's Leading Lady for this month!!!
Firstly, let me thank you for all the fantastic support and sweet comments left on my debut performance. And again, I cannot thank Julie and Shay enough for their amazing hospitality, wonderful support and encouragement, and even greater generosity!! I'm still a little overwhelmed by it all!! Hope it doesn't show in today's performance, lol!
I just wanted to remind you that my appearances as Leading Lady are just one of many many events happening on the Winnie & Walter blog in celebration of their birthday month!
NOT ONLY do I get to bring you some new and fun projects every Saturday for the entire month of January on the Winnie & Walter blog, but I also get a front row seat to all the birthday celebration fun they'll be having too! AND January is my birthday month too, so I felt even more like a pampered star, with my birthday being celebrated in a very special way! I feel utterly spoiled and can't thank Julie & Shay enough for their hospitality and generosity!!
AND THERE'S MORE!!!
I wanted to also remind you that Julie and Shay very generously offered to sponsor my Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge for this entire month too!!!
So not only do I get to bring you some inspiration every Saturday (& a giveaway for those posts too!!) but you also get the chance to win prizes for my challenge also!!! Make sure you play along with the challenge to be in with a chance of winning awesome prizes!!
So, back to today's scheduled performance!
Given that Shay and Julie are busy treading the boards at CHA this weekend, it got me thinking about what CHA means to me, and how I could translate that into today's projects! Well, to me, one massive part of CHA is seeing what will be trending in the papercrafting world this year, and so, being the trend-loving girl that I am, I decided it was the perfect time to revisit some of the biggest trends in papercrafting from 2014 and showcase some of my favourites among those trends!! Maybe you'll even see some of your favourite trends too - I've showcased around 3 trends per card!!
And of course, we all know that Winnie & Walter are super-trendy themselves, so their designs work perfectly here!!
My first card embraces a host of the big blockbuster trends - watercolour, bokeh and hand lettering - and even throwing in another favourite too - stencils!
I love how this turned out!!
I watercoloured a panel of Pure White cardstock and then used the Duo: Flash Creative Screenings and Scenery: Flash Creative Screenings to stencil on some bokeh flashes with white ink. Who says bokeh has to be round?!
When all of that was dry I heat embossed the sentiment from The Big, the Bold and You with white embossing powder to complete the look! Once the panel was adhered to the base this was pretty much a one-layer card!
Next up, I really felt the spotlight should shine on gold, ombre, deer and hashtags!
Eek!! I could not love this more!!
I spritzed my panel with gold mist (another trend - mists!) to create an ombre effect. Next I swiped on some gel medium and added a smattering of gold and clear glitters. There's some great sparkle and shine on this card!
I wanted to keep the rest of the design quite modern, so I stamped the stag from Winter Woodland and the sentiment from The Big, the Bold and You with black ink. I couldn't resist adding a hand-drawn hashtag to really make this trend! (hashtag, trend, geddit? I'm here every week. For this month at least. *wink*).
And finally, a trend-tastic combination of mint, sequins, hand lettering (again) and generational stamping!
I hope you can make out all that awesome detail and the large hello! It's so pretty in person!
I used the large 'hello' screen from The Big, the Bold and the Happy Creative Screenings and kept it in place on my panel using some rolled up bits of washi tape (to make them double-sided). I then stamped lots of sequins from Scenery: Big Bang Bling using mint ink and a few in brown ink all around/overlapping the screen. I used generational stamping to vary the depth of the colours. When I was done and removed it it left behind that wonderful sequin-surrounded greeting :-)
I stamped some star shaped sequins next in black ink. What's that, Winnie & Walter don't have a star-shaped sequin stamp? Well, with a little technique you can create the look! I inked up the stars from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti then pressed a pin head onto the centre of the stamps to remove a small circle of ink before stamping! I finished up by stamping supporting sentiments from The Big, the Bold and the Happy and The Big, the Bold and You.
If you think you recognise the inspiration for this card you'd be right - it's inspired by the current w&w 1st Birthday Bash | Collage Challenge with Laura! Make sure you link up your own take on the challenge to be in with yet another chance to win big from Winnie & Walter! I told you they were generous!! *wink*
So, that's a wrap on my second week as Leading Lady! What do you all think? I've had *such* fun putting these cards together, so I can hardly wait for next week! I hope you feel the same way! :D If you are impatiently waiting (like me!) how about a little something to sweeten the deal? :-)
I'll be giving away a $30 gift card to Winnie & Walter this month! All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is to leave a comment on my Leading Lady posts on my blog! The more posts you comment on the greater your chance of winning, so be sure to comment every week to improve your odds! I'll announce the winner at the end of the month! :-)
I want to once again extend my sincerest thanks to Julie & Shay for giving me this opportunity! I cannot tell you how much it means to me, and I hope I'll do you girls, and your amazing products, justice!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I would love it if you left some love before you went on your way!!
