We (Julie Mogford + Shay) have been huge fans of Pretty Pink Posh (we like sequins a wee bit) and we share several design team members so we always knew that Paulina (the wonderful lady behind Pretty Pink Posh) had excellent taste. ;-) Plus Paulina is kind, gifted, exceptionally generous, helpful, professional, stylish and well just amazing. It has been a great pleasure to work with Paulina and get to know her better.
Should you have lost your way here is the entire blog hop order (amazing line-up!):
Winnie & Walter blog <===YOU ARE HERE
Now that we have gotten that out of the way do you want to see what we (Julie Mogford + Shay) have made?
Julie
I am going to tell you a secret. I have to admit that this card took a VERY long time. You may not think it when you see it. I think it was the self imposed pressure! It just NEEDED to be so very awesome - awesome enough to show off these posh embellishments! Well, a dear friend of mine has invited me to her son’s wedding and that also makes me nervous - wedding cards feel like they need to be so special. I gathered a beautiful collection of stamps, papers, embellishments, tools and products to create this one. You may have caught a glimpse of it on Instagram this week. Let’s take a look!
I’m so excited that we are getting to hop hop hop along with Pretty Pink Posh. I know that both design teams have really outdone themselves making our winnie & walter stamps shine as much as Paulina’s sequins!
This card just says “Just Married”. Two roses - two love birds - sweet little heart confetti and “Mr. & Mrs.” {sigh} I kept seeing lots of ideas in my head of elements I wanted for this card. First, I was really looking forward to using on of our new products for the background - stencils - yes, I said it - STENCILS! They are fondly referred to as Creative Screenings and we are so excited to reveal them to you very soon. But, for now, here’s a sneak! I used the Scenery: Classic Diagonal Creative Screening on a white panel and sprayed Mister Huey’s Shine lightly to give a soft shimmer to the background. So quick and so easy! Then, I used Paulina’s sweet stitched scallop border from the Stitched Borders 1 set to create a delicate edge to the vellum overlay. This is soft but gives another layer of dimension without the bulk. This panel is glued directly to the white card base, but could also be popped up with foam tape.
I stamped the birds from the You’ve Got Love Mail stamp set, and embossed with sterling silver embossing powder from Stampin’ Up and fussy cut (not fussy at all really *wink*). The rose outlines from The Big, the Bold and Extras were stamped and embossed in white on watercolor paper because I wasn’t sure what technique I would use to color them. Finally, I decided to use my distress inks and ink blending tools to color the roses and leaves, and then I fussy cut them as well. The great thing about the roses is that you could color them any color to go with the bride’s color theme. Mine are pretty vibrant, but a soft pastel palette would be great too. A little foam tape and glue on these, and some clever arranging, and they were ready for the card. The sentiments are a mix from two sets: Parentville Extras and This Awesome House. I love the elegance of the clean Congratulations with the sweet and lovely Mr. & Mrs.
Last, but absolutely not least, it was time to add the sparkle and shine! I picked out several Sparkling Clear 4mmand 6mmbeauties, plus the oh so fun silver heart confetti piecesand let me tell you - oh, does it shine! This card really makes my heart happy and I think the newlyweds will love it too!
Thanks for joining us on the hop and thanks to Paulina, and all of these lovely and talented ladies who make both of our products shine! Now, I can’t wait for you to see Shay’s fantastic creation.
Shay
You know how much I love sequins, right? Well, Pretty Pink Posh carries some of the most lovely sequins around and did you know Paulina goes through each batch and pulls out all the broken sequins by hand! That's quality not to mention the packaging is wonderful with a resealable bag. It's the little things that really make the difference and you can tell Paulina cares about every aspect! Love that!
Card No. 1
Of course I took the opportunity to create a shaker card and since Halloween is just around the corner, I just had to make it a Halloween card (this was a need lol).
The house in This Awesome House seems to play a role whenever I make a Halloween scene. This time I stamped the house in tuxedo black Memento ink on a white panel along with the fence on either side and colored in the windows with yellow Copic markers.
I stamped the house again on some older green Cosmo Cricket woodgrain Halloween paper. I then cut it out and cut our the windows. Next I colored in areas of the house with a darker shade of green (just so happens to be verdigris). I also cut out a hill from the same patterned paper with the stitched curve die from Stitched Borders 1 Die by Pretty Pink Posh.
On the top of the house on the white panel I stamped the cat from This Awesome House and a couple of the littler bats from Moonlight around the house in black ink. I masked over the house and blended in Tim Holtz Distress Inks by Ranger in tumbled glass, broken china and stormy sky with a mini ink applicator tool. Then using a new product releasing next week I stamped up one side with stormy sky ink and water and pressed it over the sky and colored in the stars with Wink of Stella in clear.
Before placing the paper pieced house on the white panel house I added the hill.
I cut out a black cardstock frame larger than the house and added a piece of transparency to it along with dimensional adhesive around the edges. I shook in some 4mm marigold sequins and 6mm gold confetti (so love both of these!) from Pretty Pink Posh closed up the sandwich and adhered it all to a grey card base. Last I added some black cardstock zigzag borders cut from Stitched Borders 1 Die by Pretty Pink Posh to the top and bottom of the black frame.
Pretty Pink Posh sure does makes w&w sparkle!
Card No. 2
I decided to do another Halloween card in which I could really play with the Stitched Borders 1 Die by Pretty Pink Posh because this set of dies are so versatile and work for so many things!
I used the zigzag and scallop dies to cut several strips of cardstock and adhered them to a white cardstock panel. Then I stamped the sentiment, pumpkin and mask from Moonlight in black Versafine in. I added the pumpkin ribbon (something I picked up from Michael's some time ago) and attached it with my handy dandy Tiny Attacher. I added the white panel to a white card base with dimensional adhesive and then attached some lovely 4mm marigold sequins, 6mm pumpkin sequins and 4mm marshmallow sequins to finish off the card.
Of course if Halloween is just not your thing, just change up the colors and stamps for an autumn card or better yet choose your favorite holiday colors and use the basic layout to make some holiday cards!
Wishing a very happy hop!
