We believe this may be some people's favorite day. We are not only introducing Happy Christmas which is sure to be a go-to for the holidays (and works seamlessly with other stamps from this release and also from our August Release in particular) plus our latest in The Big, the Bold series: The Big, the Bold and the Merry, but cutaways (aka dies) as well. :-)
We are beginning the cutaways in a limited way with The Big, the Bold and the Merry Cutaways, The Big, the Bold and the Happy Cutaways, The Big, the Bold and Blessings Cutaways and The Big, the Bold and Seasons Cutaways. The word dies are almost exactly the same size as their counterpoint big word stamps so they work in conjunction with the little words and the big words, rather than sticker/outline sized.

>>>THE GOOD STUFF<<<
Let's get to the fun part and see what Julie, Shay, our guest stars, Cresta Woodruff (our fabulous winner of the Playdate No. 3 challenge), Jennifer Ingle (our October Leading Lady), Kate Capper + Shirley Bampton and The Talent (our supernova creative team) made with it. And make sure you visit Cresta's, Jennifer's, Kate's and Shirley's each of The Talent's blogs for more knock-it-out-of-the-park projects and details. Don't forget to share some love with them too!
Julie
We have a inspiration filled day for you all, and I can't wait for you to see all of the goodness these fabulously talented ladies have been creating. I even heard from one of our winnie & walter family members, Christiana, and she said that her socks were actually "knocked off"! hee hee!!! Well, I just have to say, Christiana, hang on.... it keeps getting BETTER!
I'm in a shimmery, glittery and sparkly mood lately, so prepare yourselves to be sparkled! LOL
Card No. 1
Joy to the World! Yes, indeed! I really wanted to use the baby Jesus stamp today and wanted to keep the card layout very simple. I stamped the Jesus, halo and joy to the world sentiment from Happy Christmas, and embossed with one of my absolute favorite embossing powders - Egyptian Gold from JudiKins. I love that the halo stamp is separate in this set because you could opt to stamp the baby in one color and add the halo in another, plus adjust the spacing to suit your needs.
Davis (my husband) and I thought the white panel just wasn't enough on this kraft card base alone (it was larger before) so I trimmed it to the current size, and then added another panel behind to create a frame. I simply added versamark ink direct to paper and embossed with the same embossing powder, and cut the new mat to frame the image. The white panel is popped up to set it off. In this picture, you can also see that the white panel has a delicate shimmer too!. That is my Pearl glimmer mist that I sprayed on, but used a brush to get an even coverage, rather than a "sprayed" look. Soft and subtle. I love the combination of kraft, white and gold and I think it fits this card perfectly!
Card No. 2
I love the soft pale look of evergreen bough distress ink and thought it would make a pretty backdrop for this winter card. First, I did some watercolor with the evergreen bough on a panel of bristol paper and dried with a heat tool because, well, I don't like to wait. LOL I stamped the snowflake from The Big, the Bold and Seasons set, plus the word "christmas" from The Big, the Bold and the Merry set and embossed in silver. For the snowflake, I cut one of the snowflake designs from the Digital Elements Scenery: Big Bang Flurries, and then I sprayed a generous amount of Mister Huey's Shine on it, pat it dry and then blasted it with the heat tool. Good thing it didn't melt! *wink*
I used the same treatment on "blessings", cut using one of our NEW dies - The Big, the Bold and Blessings Cutaways! I glued it down with my two way glue pen to get into all of those fine detailed areas. The snowflake is popped up with one foam tape in the center to float above the silver snowflakes. I couldn't resist adding a few 4mm Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. *sigh* See! What did I tell you? Shimmery, glittery and sparkly!
Get ready - Shay, our "Talented" design team and our lovely special guests continue to sparkle too!
Shay
Card No. 1
Let me tell you something pretty sweet about Happy Christmas: it has some images that coordinate with This Awesome House and A Tree for All Seasons (and even Moonlight). I took advantage of the Santa, sleigh and reindeer from Happy Christmas all sized for This Awesome House and got creating!
On a piece of watercolor paper, I stamped the house from This Awesome House in Versamark and embossed in white. Using a paint brush and watered down tumbled glass and weathered wood Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger I got to painting in the house. With layers of watered down tumbled glass, weathered wood, broken china and chipped sapphire Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger I painted in the sky. With a mix of calico shine Mister Huey's Color Mist by Studio Calico along with tumbled glass and weathered wood I painted in some subtle snowdrifts under the house.
Next, I did something I have been wanting to do and die cut "joy" twice from silver cardstock with The Big, the Bold and the Merry Cutaways. Oh, I can't explain the exhilaration to die cut with our own dies! And just so you know I tested them with felt and it works well! I stacked the die cuts together for more dimension. On vellum in Versamark I stamped "comfort" and "&" from the little words found in The Big, the Bold and the Merry stamp set (there are tons of little words that will allow lots of customization of holiday sentiments) and embossed it in white before I cut them into little rectangles. Last I sprayed some calico shine Mister Huey's Color Mist by Studio Calico through the Scenery: Big Bang Classic Star Creative Screenings to add some shimmer and interest to the background.
For a better look at the shimmer:
Card No. 2
I wanted to use the large poinsettia in the Happy Christmas set. That was the whole impetus of this card. From there big shocker...more watercoloring. Using watered down festive berries Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger I painted in the poinsettia and used calico shine Mister Huey's Color Mist by Studio Calico with weathered wood for the leaves. I fussy cut them out and added some more shimmer to the flowers with clear Wink of Stella.
For the background I pulled out a new best friend of mine: Scenery: Persuasion Script Creative Screenings and some calico shine (yes, I love this stuff!) and Glimmer Mists in patina and silver. I only sprayed a little of the patina and added some drops as well. I made sure to keep the creative screenings in place as I ran it through my Cuttlebug and embossed it. Some tips: place a paper towel over your wet stencil and paper to soak up any excess color and embossing works really well when the paper is still damp.
On white cardstock I stamped the wreath from Happy Christmas and embossed it with silver (I feel like an alchemist whenever I emboss with silver...I never tire of the transformation). I fussy cut around the outside edge of the wreath. I stamped the sentiment from Happy Christmas and embossed that in silver too. I had to (it's a compulsion) use more dies so I cut out "winter" from The Big, the Bold and Seasons Cutaways from white cardstock and I only attached the bottom of the die to the wreath for dimension. I adhered the poinsettias to the wreath and attached all that to the embossed panel which I adhered to a white cardbase. Final touch are 4mm marshmallow sequins from Pretty Pink Posh (love, love).
Voila! Some watercoloring + creative screenings embossing + die cutting going on with this card.
