Hi folks! I am still over the moon with the adorable critters in the new Party On with Evelin T Designs stamp set. They are the kinds of stamps I always wished I had ... cute for little kids, but not cutesy, if you know what I mean. They are a very respectable kind of cute! I really wanted to use them all on a card, so I created my own patterned paper by stamping each animal in a few spots, alternating directions, and filling in where needed with music notes.
This is the first version of the card, and I just couldn't send it off to Shay for this post since it didn't turn out like I had thought in my head. The idea was to only color one of the critters and put the sentiment underneath it, which I did, but it ended up looking unfinished. And then I stared at it for a ridiculous amount of time.
I decided that perhaps it wasn't making me happy because my eye was wandering all over the card, so then I inked the edges to help give focus in the center around my little drummer bear. Better.
Then I added a little more ink and ended up happier with the card. What do you think? Is there a different way you would have changed the first version of the card? It was really stumping me this morning!
Thanks so much for looking!

Such a cute card !! I love how you transformed it by inking around the bear. Looks great and so much fun with the musical elements :)
ReplyDeleteBoth versions are great, Kelly ... how can you go wrong with this darling cast of characters? xx

Such a sweet card--love how you created your own background paper!
ReplyDeleteI love your end result with the stamped animals as a background, and graduated color. What a fun idea, and great way to emphasize the sweet little drummer bear in the middle.
ReplyDeleteLove the stamping images in the BG and the end result is so beautiful and I love how you spotlight the main image!
ReplyDeleteha ha..funny how we end up with our card design..often different than what we had in mind ;) Your card looks adorable and the inking does the trick :)
ReplyDeleteI love how this turned out...the little bit of inking really draws the eye to the main coloured image.
