Rerun No 14 | Comfort and Prayers with Kelly

Hello, Kelly here with a sympathy card today. Unfortunately, we lost my dear Aunt Joyce, who was always the light of a party, and a perfect hostess. She worked as a model in downtown Chicago in the 1950's before she got married, and told us stories of all the fancy social parties she attended. We will all miss her immensely.
Whenever I'm stuck for ideas for sympathy cards, I usually turn to nature. Ironically, or maybe because of this, inanimate living things generally seem to be comforting. This card uses the woodgrain stamp from Scenery: Into the Woods as both a tree, and a border element to ground the sentiment and focal point. I ran a light watercolor over the wood grain.
The single leaf is symbolically and literally falling to the ground. But, even in death it's still beautiful. Like Aunt Joyce : )
Since it's the focal point, and message, of the card, I want to make sure the leaf is extra special. After smooshing ink onto the paper (spritzed the ink with water first), I crumpled the paper to give it the texture of a fall leaf. The nice thing is that after it dries it retains the crumpled texture.

The leaf is from this month's spotlight set, In Bloom: Renee's Leaves. [As a side note, there is still plenty of time for you to enter this challenge. You just need to make a card with this set, or with inspiration from a card shown in the challenge post. I hope you can play along with us!]
The sentiment is from The Big, the Bold and Comfort. Really love how you can add a lot of words to your sentiment with this set. So many different choices. Finally, the inside is lined with X and O patterned paper, to give them some extra love.

Thanks so much for looking!
