Spotlight On...Carol Mayne!

We are so pleased to bring you our next Spotlight On...Carol Mayne!  Carol's comments are enthusiastic, gracious, encouraging, heartfelt and joyful and her work is bright, clean and striking with lots of lovely white.  Just look at THIS CARD and THIS CARD she made!

Wait until you see what she's made today...you will see Carol shine!

>>>ABOUT CAROL<<<
carol_mayne

"Hello , I’m Carol (aka *c*) from Just me: c, joining you from my small town at the edge of the scenic Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. I’ve dabbled in various crafts over the years – cross-stitch, knitting (I can knit one-purl two and have made a scarf, or ten), and long ago, painting on wood. My journey into cards began two years ago, when I decided to make and send Happy Month Old cards to my niece, who was 2 at the time (she’s now 5 and my nephew 3 - and yes, the card ‘tradition’ continues). The ‘mess’ of my first attempt sent me searching the internet for ideas. Like many of us, that initial step and the discoveries revealed sparked a ‘passion’ and here I am, thoroughly immersed in crafting with paper, stamps, inks and dies. Of course, the friendships made through this warm, encouraging community are treasured immensely. When I’m not at my ‘craft counter’ or at work, I’m usually found at road, mountain or cyclocross bike races throughout our province, with stop watch and clipboard in hand, in my role as a racing official, or in the feed zone as #1 fan and support for my husband, passing water-bottles to him and cheering when he competes.

Over the past few months, I've become completely enamoured with Winnie and Walter *everything* - blog posts, challenges and, of course, their amazing products. Little wonder that I have welcomed a variety (large variety) of their stamps, cutaways and stencils into my collection.  Words cannot fully express how  honoured and delighted I am that Shay and Julie selected and invited me to be a designer for their  *Spotlight On* project. THANK YOU for this dream-come-true opportunity!

>>>CAROL's PROJECTS<<<

Whew...I'm a bit nervous, of course, but...let's get on with the show! "Dashing and Dapper' is the theme I'm playing along with and, of course, 'masculine touch' came first to mind. I did a bit of research, discovering some 'sparks' here (colour combinations, in particular) and away I went...

First on the Dapper and Dashing runway is a Versafine-stamped and clear-embossed Mini Scenery Multifaceted image, sporting a smoky grey and light blue ensemble (Cool Grey and Sky Blue Chamelon pens).  The rectangle shape comes from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways, fashionably split to  draw your eye to the fabulous silver-foil, stacked-for-dimension Celebrate sentiment (The Big, the Bold and Party Cutaways). Accessories include black card-stock framing and a trio of tiny silver stars.  Silver/grey, black, a whisper of colour: I hope this speaks 'dapper and dashing' to you.

Up next is a second geometric-themed card, sporting Cool Grey paired with Aqua Marine.  The angled background design showcases several impressions of the border stamp, embossed, from True, with the finished panel cut from the larger rectangle from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways.  A bold In A Word Hello Cutaway (stacked), joined with "friend" from True, and embossed onto the smaller flag banner from the Katharine Cutaways, rounds out this Dapper and Dashing Card #2.

Third on stage:  this Dapper and Dashing number is decked out with embossed border and star images from True, in Cool Grey and soft Purple Grape, and a bold In A Word: Cheers Cutaway

Here's my trio of Dashing and Dapper...

Again, such an honour to have shared with you today!  I hope that my cards brought a smile to your face and maybe a bit of inspiration, too!  Winnie and Walter rocks!

    1. Jean, thank you so much for visiting and leaving such an uplifting comment! Yes, I was 'hoping' these would come across as somewhat 'multi-purpose' and as much as I had 'masculine' in mind, I think they have female-flavour as well. You're more than welcome to case them if you want; I'd be honoured! ♥

    1. Mary-Anne, thank you for visiting and leaving such a smile-making comment! The gradients took a while, as I'm still trying to figure out the Chameleon pens (Mr. Recycle Bin had plenty of treats in the making of these). I'm so glad these turned out - and I still need tons more practice with the pens ♥
