Gifts of Giving | Merry Christmas with Heather

Hi, everyone! Heather P. here to share my 'Gift of Giving' project with you... I have really enjoyed seeing what the other ladies on the design team have been creating, such fabulous projects!

There are so many different ways to interpret this month's theme, and as the ideas were flying around, I kept coming back to this project.  I have friends who usually commission me to create their annual Christmas cards, and I really enjoy creating for them! It can be a bit tedious to replicate the design a billion times, but when you see their faces when they're opening up the box for the reveal, it just can't be beat! I love that!

To create this card, I started with a light gray card base, and used the Scenery: Big Bang Circle Creative Screenings to cover the back of the card with embossing paste.  While that was drying, I stamped the wreath, leaf sprig and bow images from Happy Christmas in Stazon ink, then watercolored them.  While they were drying, I stamped the cardinal image from Winter Woodland in red ink, then fussy cut it out.

Next, I die cut the main portion of the sentiment using the Big, the Bold and the Merry Cutaways from silver glitter card stock.  I adhered a strip of white card stock to the card base, then stamped the remainder of the sentiment from the Big, the Bold and the Merry in versamark onto mint card stock before heat embossing in white.  I adhered the strip of mint card stock to the card base, then adhered the silver die cut.  To finish up, I adhered the wreath, bow and bird images to the card base, covered the berries and bow with stickles, and embellished with teal enamel dots.

Well, that wraps it up for me today, please be sure to come back tomorrow for more Winnie & Walter inspiration.

Have a great one!
Heather P.

Gifts of Giving | It's a Wrap with Mayuri

Hello there - Mayuri here to share my Winnie & Walter 'Gift of Giving' project with you. I decided to stick to what comes naturally to me, and created my own wrapping paper using some of the christmas themed stamps from Winnie & Walter (Happy Christmas and Winter Woodland). For a fun twist, I did a bit of heat embossing using tinsel silver embossing powder ;-)
I love how you can totally stretch your stamps this way and create heaps of pattern paper. I began by arranging and mounting the chosen images onto a Fiskars stamp press, and stamping across a large piece of kraft paper with Versamark Ink. In between each impression, I sprinkled the embossing powder and heat set. Then I went in with a different image and stamped with black ink. Here's how it looked wrapped around a box:
I tied some ribbon and twine around the package, and finished up with a couple of word die-cuts using Winnie & Walter's cutaways - I cut three of each word out of some thick cardstock and sandwiched them together to create thicker embellishments. I saw this as something that could be used instead of tags, and an idea that could translate to gifts being given all year round! All you have to do is change up the die-cuts to suit the season (or event)!
Hope you feel inspired to create your own wrapping paper!
Thanks for stopping by ;-)

Playdate No. 4 | Julie's Take

Hello Everyone!

I've been checking out the entries for our Playdate No. 4 on the blog, and there are some fabulous creations.  There are only a few entries at this time, but that won't make it any easier for Shay and I to pick a winner.  There is still a little time left to participate in our Playdate No. 4 (You have until November 28, 2014 at 11:55 p.m.).  And, if you are new to our Playdate, you are playing for a chance to be one of our guests during our next release.  To read more about the details, check out our Playdate No. 4 post.

If you are like me, I've been pretty busy earlier this month, and only just had a chance to get crafty for a little while this weekend.  When I reviewed the challenge images and colors, I just couldn't make up my mind, so I made a trio of tags.  Each one is inspired by some of the aspects of the challenge.

I used one of my favorite sets from our October release - Winter Woodland!  Apparently it is also a favorite with many of you since it has been sold out - but never fear!  We expect it back in stock VERY SOON! For this first tag, I took my cues from the pine needles and pine cones, as well as the green, brown and silver colors.  This tag started with a kraft tag that was still on my craft table that I had swiped through some left over shimmery mists from a previous project.  It is subtle, but lovely when the light catches it.  I think it is also a little unexpected on this tag with the contrast of the pine needles and pine cones rustic look.  I used my Tim Holtz Distress embossing powders in Vintage Photo and Shabby Shutters. Finally, I stamped the two cardinals and then embossed them with Rockin' Red glitter embossing powder from JudiKins - a staple during Christmas and Valentines!  The sentiment is from Happy Christmas, and a perfect small sentiment for a tag.

For my next tag, I really wanted to make a design with white embossing because I like how it looks on kraft cardstock.  Since white was one of the colors, and kraft counted as my neutral, I brought in the green from the colors, as well as a deer from the scene. I decided to make this a one layer tag and I stamped the bow first, and then masked it so I could stamp the wreath.  I added the sweet little doe and some dots around the wreath, as well as another small sentiment - all from Happy Christmas.  I wish you could see the coloring more on this tag though.  I did take a light green prisma pencil and colored inside the leaves carefully and a gold prisma pencil for the bow. I think this is simply elegant and could be easy to mass product.

For this tag, I only drew from the colors  - blue, white and a neutral, my trusty kraft tag.  You will probably recognize our cute little Stampet: Penguin, all decked out in ear muffs, scarf and mittens.  He is also colored with prisma pencils, and the blue elements are fussy cut from cardstock.  The happy winter sentiment is also from Happy Christmas, but I stamped it in two steps so I could fit it into a smaller space, leaving room for my white embossed snowflake flurries.  You may notice that some of these flurries are a bit larger than those you have seen in the Scenery: Big Bang Flurries.  You will want to stay tuned later this week for more details about these BIGGER flurries. *wink*

I hope I have enticed you to play along for our Playdate No. 4 challenge (you can't win if you don't play!), and maybe even inspired you to make a few handmade tags for this gift giving season.  Shay, Winnie, Walter and I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope you enjoy your time with your family.  We are so grateful to have you all as part of our winnie & walter family!

And, if you are so inclined, please join us this coming weekend for our Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale - more details coming very soon!

Gifts of Giving | Laura's Happy Holiday Card

Hello crafty people! It's Laura here and today I am sharing a bright and happy card for the holidays.

The October Release was huge, but of course I have a few favorite products. The line of Stampets simply make my heart happy. For this card I used the Stampets: Penguin set and colored Mister Penguin using Copic Markers. While I set him aside, I stamped tiny stamps from the Happy Christmas stamp set. There are so many images included in that set. Love it!

Then, I added drops of gold shimmer spray for an extra festive effect. Afterwards, I adhered a strip of bold washi tape that I purchased at IKEA. I thought this card could use an extra something, so I sponged some lime green ink on the edges of the paper.

For the greeting, I used the Winter Woodland stamp set. That font is fantastic! Another thing I really like is white thread. I looped some white thread and adhered the penguin using foam adhesive. This adhesive is enough to secure the thread. Finally, I adhered some sequins between the thread. This also makes sure that the thread will stay put. :)

That's it from me. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Gifts of Giving | Lea's Thanksgiving Glassine Bags

Hi there!  Lea here today to share a fun project with you!!  Our blog theme for November is gift giving, & since Thanksgiving is right around the corner...I decorated a couple of glassine bags which would be perfect for giving a little gift to your hostess, or your guests!

I used the A Tree for All Seasons stamp set, and stamped a sentiment from it to each of the tags that I created for the glassine bags.  I kept the stamping simple in order to keep these little gift bags easy to create!!  This way they can be created in large quantities in case you needed them for all of your Thanksgiving guests!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed my Thanksgiving glassine gift bags!!

Gifts of Giving | Gayatri's Wine Bottle Tags

Hey dear friends,

Gayatri here with you today for the blog post. With Thanksgiving not very far away, I decided to make couple of Wine Bottle Tags. These will be perfect decor when you take a bottle of wine to family or friend's house during Thanksgiving dinner.

Here is my first wine bottle tag.

gayatri_Thankful for you orange tag

The wine tag is three inches to nine inches scored at 3 inches for the fold. For the hole I die cut a circle and rounded the corner. I have used Scenery: Triangled Creative Screening stencil and sponged Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey and Aged Mahogany distress inks randomly. Then I stamped the sentiment from A Tree for All Seasons using versamark on an orange cardstock and white heat embossed. I adhered to the tag, trimmed the edges. I also added a thin strip of gold cardstock on the edges. Finally added ribbon and tied into a bow.

Here is my second wine bottle tag.

For my second wine tag, the measurements are the same. On this tag, I sponged Delicate Gold ink with random Festive Berries on the Scenery: Triangled Creative Screenings. I stamped the same sentiment and white heat embossed on red cardstock to coordinate with the red triangle on the tag. I have adhered this sentiment panel to the tag and trimmed the excess. Framed with two thin strip of gold cardstock.

Here are the two tags together.

These are easy to make and perfect to jazz up a wine bottle. Hope you like it and is inspired. if you make some wine bottle tags, please share them.

November Leading Lady Nadine Perez | Take Two

Now on to the show!!

Hi everyone! Im back today with another post for Winnie and Walter using their new stamp set called Stampets: The Gift.  I fell in love with the adorable dog images they included in the set as well as all the fun coordinating images. I just knew I needed to ink up the little chihuahua since my little guy (Apollo) is a long-haired chihuahua. Today's projects are photo cards and will be given as gifts to two of Apollo's doggy friends who we dog-sit for occasionally. I know their parents are going to be thrilled with the pictures and I will include a little doggy treat to go along with them.

This first picture is of my dog Apollo, his friend Paduka, and my daughter at the park. I started the photo card by coloring the dog, hat, and bone image with my Copics.  Then cut those out and put aside. The christmas greetings are from The Big, the Bold, and the Merry which I die cut, stamped, and heat embossed.  When assembling the card, I made sure to place adhesive around three sides of the picture only. This created a pocket in which the picture itself can be slid out after the recipient is done with the card.

I created a tag to go along with the card using the tiny little paw prints included with the set (I told you there were so many fun coordinating images!).  I decided to keep it clean and simple to go along with my colorful and bold card. The sentiment and holly image are from the set Happy Christmas.

This next picture is with Apollo and his friend King. They're hanging out on my bed which is their favorite place to be when not outside barking at the birds, lol.  This photo card uses the hat and bone image from Stampets: The Gift. The sentiment is from Winter Wonderland which I heat embossed and then die cut. Again the photo itself can be slid out from this card. I did this by placing adhesive on the patterned paper around three sides of the photo. The cute santa hats are glued down only on the patterned paper and not the photo itself. This way the recipient can use the picture year round.

I made a coordinating tag to go along with the card. I wanted this tag to be a little more colorful and to include the chihuahua. I stamped the gift box and dog image by using masks and then colored them with Copics. How darling is the little For you tag? They really jam packed the Stampets: The Gift with lots of useful images. The 'with love' sentiment is from the set Happy Christmas.

Not sure you can tell, but I am definitely a dog person!  I just love that Julie and Shay are obviously dog people too since the company is named after their four-legged friends.  If you haven't read it before, you need to check out their About Us page on the Winnie and Walter website. I found it absolutely adorable.

Don't forget that for your chance to win a $30 gift card, please visit my blog Wahine Inks. Leave a comment and I will choose a winner at the end of the month from all the Leading Lady posts. This gives you several chances to enter!
