Ladies and gentlemen, Yoonsun....

Yoonsun_Hur_may2017

Hello, hello crafty friends! I am back with another Leading Lady project this weekend!! Oh, I was so happy for having your sweet comments last week! I read them over and over!!

Today’s card, I used my most favourite technique, random stamping + Distress marker watercoloring, using so adorable BigHugs with Evelin T Designs Stamp Set.

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P02-01

To start, I randomly stamped images from the BigHugs with Evelin T Designs set (hearts from the Welcome to the Family with Evelin T Designs stamp set) on watercolor paper in black pigment ink. I then trimmed the stamped paper down using basic rectangle panel die (you can use your paper trimmer).

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P02-02

I watercolored all images with Distress markers and find tip water brush, background with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and a wet paint brush. For the sentiment, I heat embossed it from the Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs set in white, die cut it with the Sketchy Thoughts Cutaways. Once the panel was completely dry, I mounted the watercolored panel on navy card base using foam tape, and then sentiment die cut on it using foam tape as well.

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P02-03

I love all sweet images and the sentiment so much!!

Shay has generously donated a $30 gift card for me to give away on my blog, so don’t forget to leave a comment on my blog post. (https://rejoicingcrafts.com/).

Mama with Vanessa

Hello everybody, Vanessa here to share a Mother's Day card with you today! I have to admit, I didn't have much time for cardmaking lately due to a lot of various festivities with my family. With Mother's Day right around the corner, I needed a card quickly. Now it became handy that I had some pretty watercolor backgrounds I had prepared a while ago lying around!

Preparing backgrounds is a great way of saving time when you need to make a quick card. I like to use watercolors with the ink smooshing technique, to create colorful backgrounds with an ink blending tool or to use the wonderful Winnie & Walter creative screenings.

For today's card, I chose an ink smooshed watercolor panel:

Here I had masked off the edges of the watercolor paper panel with tape and applied Distress Inks mixed with water. I like to dry every color before applying the next one. After the colors were all dried, I stamped the leaves from Framed with Evelyn T Designs and the flowers from In Bloom: Anna's Flora with matching inks and adhered the panel to the card.

Now I stamped the banner from Framed with Evelyn T Designs onto white cardstock and die-cut it with the matching die. I stamped the "Mama" from Parentville Extras (you could win this stamp set by commenting HERE), colored the edge with Copics and adhered it to the card with foam tape. Finally, I added matching sequins.

I hope you like it and that my mother will, too :) Thank you for stopping by today!

May Color Combo with Heather H. (Challenge)

Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you! Thanks so much to everyone who joined in with our last challenge - look for winners and a few featured players at the bottom of this post!

This month I went with a softer spring color combo! I hope you will play along - don't forget, one lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Winnie and Walter! Here is my inspiration for this month's Color Combo:

And here is my color inspiration for this month:

This time around I found some pattern paper that pulled together colors from my inspiration photo. It didn't hurt that it even had roses on it like the inspiration photo! I used Essentials: Noelle Cutaways to die cut my pattern paper background, then used Sketchy Thoughts and Sketchy Thoughts Cutaways to create the sentiment focal point. I tore apart the edges of part of a doily and twirled it around to create a lacy spot to place the speech bubble, then punched a hole in the top corner to tie some twine through. A few clear droplets finish this off!

Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! Every single project was lovely, but I thought I'd give a shout out to a few that especially caught my eye!

First up - I LOVE this take by Karen; - she perfectly captured the colors from the inspiration photo - and I love that she used Tulips as well! And how clever to make a wreath with the tulips!

And then there is this vibrant beauty from Dana; - aren't those watercolors so pretty? I love how the flowers overlap - and the touches of sequins is the perfect finishing touch!

And finally - this take from Preeti;! I love her use of the florals, and the slightly more muted take on the colors in the inspiration photo, not to mention the splatter and sequins to finish it off!

May Leading Lady Yoonsun Hur | Take One

Today is the first Saturday of May which means the debut of our May Leading Lady, Yoonsun Hur! Yoonsun is an amazing talent with the ability to incorporate elegance with sweetness with ease.  Yoonsun's grasp of color is truly amazing!

Originally from South Korea, she now lives down under in Australia with her husband. Not only is Yoonsun adept at cardmaking-- working on the design teams of Altenew, My Favorite Things and Simon Says Stamp-- she is also a gifted graphic designer.  This month she will be taking us all on a creative journey of her own design sure to leave us inspired.

Please give Yoonsun a big round of applause to welcome her as she steps onto the stage for her first performance as our May Leading Lady!

Yoonsun_Hur_may2017

Hello crafty friends! I am Yoonsun Hur and I’m so excited (and so honoured) to be May's Leading Lady here at Winnie & Walter! May is one of my favourite months! J

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P01-01

Today I will be sharing with you my watercolor floral background with the In Bloom:Elsa's Flora & In Bloom: Renee's Leaves stamp sets.

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P01-02

I started by heat embossing outlined flowers and leaves from two flower stamp sets (In Bloom: Elsa's Flora & In Bloom: Renee's Leaves) on watercolor paper in white. I stamped images using Versamark embossing ink, and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P01-03

I then watercolored the stamped background with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor and a wet flat brush. I applied clean water on the panel first, and then added warm colours. I used (dark to light) No.36 Wine Red, No.32 Red, No.33 Orange, No.43 Mid Yellow.

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P01-04

For the main image, I decided not to color. I just stamped an adorable baby elephant from the Welcome to the Family with Evelin T Designs set in black ink, and then die cut it with the Welcome to the Family with Evelin T Designs Cutaways. For the sentiment, I heat embossed “Sending big hugs” from the Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs set on black card stock in white, and then trimmed it out with the Sketchy Thoughts Cutaways.

YoonsunHur-May2017-WW-LL-P01-05

Once the watercolored panel was completely dry, I trimmed it out with the larger rectangle panel die in the Essentials: Lana Cutaways. Finally, I mounted all elements as shown to top-folded white card base using foam tape.

Rerun No. 19 | Parentville (Challenge + Giveaway + Sale!) + Winners of Rerun No. 18

w&w_rerun_logo
Hello lovelies!  Welcome to our monthly Rerun post!  We are going to do things a little differently this month by announcing our winners from last month's Rerun No. 18 | The Big, the Bold and Extras first.

We had such lovely entries and Mr. Random chose this challenge entry to win a $25.00 credit to the w&w shop:

Mothers Day
No. 9 | Karen Ladd

Thank you for all your kind comments as well!  The winner of The Big, the Bold and Extras stamp set is:

comment winner
No. 16 | Dawn Turley

Congrats Karen and Dawn!   Please email us at info {at} winniewalter {dot} com.  Dawn, I will additionally need your mailing address.

Now on to this month's Rerun!

Each Rerun will provide plenty of inspiration focusing upon a featured product, a month-long sale on the featured product and a challenge (with a prize!) and giveaway.  You will not want to miss out!

w&w_Parentville_stamp_hi-res

For our nineteenth Rerun we are concentrating on Parentville.  This set came out in our second release back in 2014 to celebrate mothers and fathers with some retro inspired images that are fun to use for other occasions as well.

We followed up Parentville with Parentville Extras which is really an extension of the original Parentville.
w&wParentvilleExtras_WEB_wm

You will see that you can use these sets very easily together or change up the bigger Mom with "Mama." "Mum" or "Mother" from Parentville Extras or vise versa and the same with Dad with "Papa" "Father" and "Pop" from Parentville Extras along with supporting sentiments which work with either set.  In fact our first Rerun concentrated on Parentville Extras which you can find HERE.

In honor of parents everywhere we will be putting both Parentville and Parentville Extras on sale this month and the comment giveaway is going to be extra special as the winner will receive Parentville and Parentville Extras!

Now on to the cards!

Shay

shay_IMG_4141

I wanted to do a mother and father card and originally I went with a background for the dad card using Parentville and Parentville Extras, but decided to hold off on it for my card in favor of a cleaner look that was very similar in design to the mom card I created. You can see the somewhat distressed background (guy cards are so much fun because if your stamping is imperfect it can actually enhance the design) I created under the dad card.  I may be able to create a card with it in the future.

shay_IMG_4140

On the navy panel I stamped "dad" from Parentville and "you are my" and "favorite" from Sentimental: Endearments in Versamark and then heat embossed them in white.  I thought the sentiment was appropriate dad humor.  I mounted the navy panel to a little larger golden yellow patterned paper panel.  I also cut out the bow tie using Take a Bow Cutaways from the same patterned paper and then stamped it with the outline wood grain from Scenery: Into the Woods to add a little interest.  I then adhered the little center from the same Take a Bow Cutaways using a glue dot for just a tiny bit of dimension.  I attached the bow tie to the navy panel using dimensional foam adhesive and the entire piece was then adhered to a white A2 card base using more foam dimensional adhesive.  Super easy and yet I really like how it turned out.

shy_IMG_4139

The mom card is actually for my grandmother (from my mom) for mother's day and since her favorite color is purple I knew that was my starting point.  I stamped "mom" from Parentville in Versamark and then heat embossed it in lavender on a strip of white cardstock.  I tried placing some die cut flowers around "mom" but I simply wasn't feeling it until I happened upon a piece of cardstock in which I had cut out some flowers using In Bloom: Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya Cutaways.  I used the negative space like a stencil and my inked and ink blending tool to add the flower shapes to the strip.  I then stamped the leaves from In Bloom: Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya.  To make the sentiment further pop from the flower background I stamped the "mom" again in a darker purple a little to the left of the embossed version.

I added the scallops to the back of the mom panel.  The scallops were created from cutting away the scallop trim die from Goldie Trim Cutaways from a piece of patterned paper .  The whole strip was then adhered with dimensional foam adhesive to an A2 card base covered with patterned paper.  Last I added some golden pearls to the center of the flowers.  Another easy card with a really pretty and fresh feel.

What I like about both cards is that although I made them for mother's day and father's day they don't say that on the outside so these cards could be used for birthdays, just because, a thank you, etc.

That's it from me...wait until you see what Heather H. and Kelly did with Parentville and/or Parentville Extras!
