From Shay:

Shay Mood Board Layout

I am going to keep this short and sweet. lol  I was inspired by the tape collage, geometric wallpaper, florals, watercoloring and touches of yellow.  I used a mix of stamps from In Bloom: Addie's Garden + The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom + the border around Cover Model: Multifaceted Cutaway (I trimmed out the center) + the scallop circle from Essentials: Audrey Cutaways along with the irresistible Up in the Clouds collection by Pinkfresh Studio.  I am in love with it.  The patterned paper is called "cross hatch."  I also used some of the gold rub ons, journaling cards and the puffy frames all from Pinkfresh Studio.

May Leading Lady Anita in France | Take One

We are so happy to bring you our May Leading Lady, Anita in France!  She caught our eye from the beginning of w&w with her clean, bright and fresh designs with a healthy dose of ingenuity when she would post her projects on our Join in to Win! page and entered our first Playdate Challenge.  We loved her bold use of color and we think you will too for her lively, vibrant and fabulous first performance.

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady

Soooo excited!!  Not only did I get to spend an awesome week showcasing Winnie & Walter‘s amazing, brilliant and gorgeous new release … I also get to spend May as their Leading Lady!  Wow … happy dancing … thrilled and honoured is an understatement … thank you so much to Julie and Shay for inviting me and for giving me the opportunity to play on the Winnie & Walter blog for all five Saturdays during the month … and share that time with you!  I’ve been an ‘always’ Winnie & Walter fan since seeing the sneak peeks of (among others) their first The Big, The Bold series of sentiments in January last year … didn’t want to miss out on them coming to live at my house, so just *had* to get up at 5.00 in the morning to place an order when they were released!  LOVE them … regular visitors will know they’re some of my most used stamps!

For those who aren’t regular visitors, here’s a little about me.  I’m blessed to live in a simply splendid part of the world … south west France, where I spend my days (most of them) on our large scale, long term house renovation project … and my evenings (some of them) making cards.  So I get to be creative almost all the time, whether with big, heavy things (stone, wood and the like) or small, light things (paper, stamps, ink …).  I’ve crafted in one way or another since I can remember and got seriously into card making over two years ago, when I discovered blogland … a place full of wonderfully creative, warm and enthusiastic people who are a joy to spend time with!  My style is pretty clean … love simple and/or graphic and lots of white space … and enjoy playing with techniques too … if they fit well with my neat freak tendencies!

So … how about some projects?  I’m starting with some current favourites … rainbows, graphic shapes and die cutting … here’s a trio of cards designed to brighten and add colour to your day.

First up, happy …

W&W Leading Lady Week 1 Rainbow 1

These awesome faceted stripes are from the new True stamp set.  They’re heat embossed in white, watercoloured with Distress Inks and a refilled Wink of Stella brush (that still has a little subtle sparkle in it), trimmed out and adhered in a very orderly fashion flat on the card base (I did mention those neat freak tendencies!).  I die cut the In A Word: Happy twice and mounted the white over the black to create a shadow effect, before adhering it to the stripes.  Lots of colour and a smidge of sparkle, so nothing else needed.  Love how the different facets in those stripes show subtly different shades of the Distress Inks!

Next, here’s hello …

W&W Leading Lady Week 1 Rainbow 2

This is a one layer card … stamped using just one of the fabulous images from Scenery: Rectangled & Triangled.  I pulled out a bunch of Memento Dew Drops, masked off the edges of the card and did some generational stamping.  Starting at the top right, I inked the stamp in yellow and stamped it four times downwards without reinking … then going to the bottom right, I inked up orange and stamped, moving upwards without reinking … the lightest shades ended up next to one another in the middle.  The pattern was continued into the next column, overlapping the first, and so on across the card … orange to red, red to pink, etc.  I cut the In A Word:Hello (part of the new release) into the background and cut another from white card, lined the inside of the card and did some puzzle piecing, inlaying and adhering the die cuts onto the lining so the card is flat for mailing.  Bonus … I have a spare coloured hello to use on another card!

Here’s the last card for this week …

W&W Leading Lady Week 1 Rainbow 3

Just look at all that lovely white space!  This rainbow was stamped with the medium solid stripe from Scenery: Stripes … and then trimmed out.  I used some removable scotch tape down the side of the panel to act as an edge so I could but up the little row of hearts die to it (from Cutaway Essentials:Audrey) … the tape made lining up easy and just pulled off afterwards.  The hugs and kisses sentiment is from You’ve Got Love Mail and was stamped in Versamark, before the rainbow panel was popped up on slender slices of foam tape on the base.  A few generous layers of Wink of Stella add some sparkle.  Love that shadow effect behind those hearts!

I’ve had so much fun playing with Winnie & Walter goodies this week … and hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what I came up with!   Julie and Shay have generously given me a $30 gift card to Winnie & Walter to give away this month … if you’d like to be in with a chance of winning it (oh the fun you could have!), leave a comment on each of my Leading Lady posts over on my blog (My Papercraft World) each week … five posts during May, five chances to win!  I’ll do a random draw from all the comments and will announce the winner on Sunday 7 June!

Once again, huge thanks to Julie and Shay for having me … looking forward to coming back next week already … hope to see you here!  Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy!  Anita :)

>>>THE GOOD STUFF<<<

Let's get to the fun part and see what our guest stars, Maria F. & Maya Isaksson (our fabulous winners of our 1st Birthday Bash challenge), Lydia Evans (our April Leading Lady), + Anita in France (our May Leading Lady) and The Talent (our supernova creative team) made with the products. And make sure you visit Maria's, Maya's, Lydia's, Anita's and each of The Talent's blogs for more knock-it-out-of-the-park projects and details.  Don't forget to share some love with them too!

Shay

I am a little mad for faceted images right now as are so many other people as they are hot!  Julie knows how much as I kept asking for them in various forms for months and did she deliver!  These items also remind me of one truly kind, fun and crazy-clever gal, our very own Kelly Griglione.   Julie and and I had the greatest pleasure of meeting and hanging out with her at CHA in January.  Anything that reminds me of one of the Talent is a very good thing. :-)

I have 3 cards for you today that I hope you will enjoy.

Card No. 1

shay_4

I really wanted to use Cover Model: Multifaceted Cutaway so this is a card built around that plus I also wanted to play with In Bloom: Maggie's Roses Cutaways.  I went graphic + pretty on this card mixing the two visual themes of this release together in one card and I love it.

I cut the Cover Model: Multifaced Cutaway out of a pink ombre piece of patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad from cut & paste "adorbs" by My Mind's Eye.  I curled up the edges a little.

On a watercolor paper panel I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, shabby shutters and crushed olive and the ink blending tool to color the panel.  Then I flicked water on it which I let dry and then I flicked drops of calico white Mister Huey's Color Mist.

I adhered the ombre cutaway in just a few placed upon the yellow-green panel.

I cut out of water colorpaper the In Bloom: Maggie's Roses Cutaways.  I colored in the rose base with picked raspberry and dried marigold Distress Inks using a water brush and the outline with festive berries Distress Ink along with stamping the center in several times using a center stamp from The Big, the Bold and Extras.  I adhered the outline to the solid rose.

On the leaves I used evergreen bough and pine needles Distress Inks and then went over them with olive vine chalk ink by Prima.  I adhered a few of the outlines and insides of the leaves on the base leaves.

I also stamped and then cut out the solid more open rose 3 times from The Big, the Bold and Extras in spun sugar Distress Ink and then stamped the outline and center with festive berries Distress Ink.  I used the brand new The Big, the Bold and Extras Cutaways to cut out the flowers.  It was so easy!

On a piece of white cardstock I stamped the sentiment from My Precious using the olive vine chalk ink by Prima.  I cut out the banner edge.

Then I added dimensional foam adhesive to the large rose, placed the sentiment banner under it and tucked in and adhered the smaller roses and leaves around it.

Last I added some clear shimmery sequins.

Card No. 2
shay_5

I stamped the heart 9 times on a piece of cardstock in light grey ink.  Then I watercolored 3 of each gem in 3 colors: evergreen bough, picked raspberry and musterd seed Distress Inks.  After they dried I over stamped the heart gem in the same inks.

I cut out In a Word: Friend Cutaway from white cardstock.  I adhered it over the gem panel.  Then I stamped the sentiment from My Precious in Versamark and heat embossed it with Zing! glitter finish gold (somehow some of the embossing powder chipped away--I sometimes have this problem with this particular embossing powder + the powder I use to lessen embossing powder sticking to anything but the Versamark).  I added the scallop from Goldie Trim Cutaways to the panel and then adhered it to a kraft card base with dimensional foam adhesive.

Card No. 3

shay_6

I wanted to do a father's day card because several of the items featured today are perfect for that and masculine cards in general.  On a panel of white card stock cut using the smaller rectangle layer in Essentials: Katharine Cutaways I stamped in Versamark Mini Scenery: Multifaceted and heat embossed it in white.  I colored in the facets using: tumbled glass, stormy sky, faded jeans, broken china, salty ocean and chipped sapphire Distress Inks with a water brush.

I stamped the star from True in Versamark and heat embossed in white.  Using tumbled glass, broken china and faded jeans I colored in the star with a water brush.

On a piece of bright blue cardstock I stamped "dad" from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad in Versamark and heat embossed it in white.  I trimmed it and adhered it to the star.

On a pieced of white cardstock I stamped "true" in chipped sapphire and "hero" both from True in stormy sky.  I adhered the strip onto the multifaceted panel and then adhered the star with foam dimensional adhesive over that.  I adhered the white panel to a bright blue A2 card base.  Last I added three enamel dots by My Mind's Eye.

Now that I have warmed you up you are ready for the headliners!  They stun me with their projects every single time.  Enjoy!
