For The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom we created a set to aid you in writing about your life as a mom, about your mom, other motherly figures, or to have a great time with the little ones to capture their feelings about their mom or make a mother's day card. We've added some pretty images to add to any occasion.  Not only that, but it is also a wonderful companion to Parentville and is a ideal mate to The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad.

I just have to tell you that this set, The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom, is a personal favorite.  I really enjoyed the process of co-designing this set with Shay.  I had this idea of making a silhouette of a woman, and the idea is actually based on a photo of my mom's high school graduation picture.  I have always loved that picture, and her hair was in a flip like our lovely lady here.  We also knew we wanted some flowers and definitely a bow.  The ornate frame was really fun to create, and my mind was full of possibilities with this frame and the whole set.  So, I'm featuring my favorites for you here today.

If you caught my instagram post from yesterday, it showed a picture of my desk after building this spray of flowers.  {Kelly - my luck turned around!!!} I picked several shades of pinks, yellows and greens, and stamped the flowers in two steps.  I used the largest flower to stamp the base and then the medium flower to create a center. I also used this technique similarly creating the smaller flowers and even on the simple leaves, giving the flowers and leaves more dimension through shading.  For the smallest flowers, I used the smallest dot from the Big Bang Confetti set to just add a tiny center.  The tiny sprays of pink buds were actually stamped as a second generation in the same pink as the large flower.  I added green stems and leaves to the stamped image with a Prisma color pencil - easy peasy! After fussy cutting the spray, I added Stardust Stickles to the center of all of the flowers on the shaded centers and to the tiny pink buds.

I couldn't decide how I wanted the card to layout exactly, and then my DH said, "Why not put the woman silhouette on a field of blue, like a cameo".  He's good!  Really good!  Thanks honey!! ;o)  So, I found an appropriate shade of blue card stock and embossed the lady, the ornate frame and the sentiment on the card base.  Just to note - the ornate frame is much more narrow than it shows here. The frame is very flexible, and I was able to give it a more rounded shape when sticking it on my acrylic block to better fit the shape of my flower spray. Nice!!!  Finally, the spray was added with foam tape and the little bow, embossed in white on vellum, added with a little glossy accents.   I'm loving how this one turned out.  Please enjoy all of the fabulous creations below. I decided to use the guy silhouette from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad with the lady silhouette from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom to create a love card.  We designed the silhouettes so they will longingly stare at each other. I used a piece of watercolor paper and painted it with various blue Distress Markers and water.  Next I stamped the ledger heart from The Write Stuff: Love Story in a navy ink by Studio Calico.  It ran a bit as the watercolor paper was still wet so I dried it and stamped over it again.  Next I stamped the silhouettes with Versamark and embossed them with Zing! denim embossing powder.  I colored in the collar of the guy with a white gel pen.  I sprayed the panel with shine Mister Huey's Color Mist by Studio Calico.  Then I finished it up with "love" from The Big, the Bold, and the Happy (temporarily out of stock, but soon to be back!).  I added a leaf die cut from the Lemon Lush collection by Studio Calico and big glitter photo corners from Martha Stewart Crafts. I placed the watercolor panel on a slightly larger piece of navy cardstock and adhered it to the card base with my trusty dimensional foam adhesive.



For my second card I went off the reservation and experimented.  I stamped the oval frame several times rotating each time in grey ink by Studio Calico.  Over that I stamped the flowers from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom in a few colors of Mid-tone Shadow Inks by Hero Arts.  Then I stamped the largest solid circle from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti (again out of stock, but soon to be back).  I sprayed the image with shine Mister Huey's Color Mist by Studio Calico.  I cut out the wreath and cut out the center with a circle die by Spellbinders.  I stamped the bow in Versamark and gold embossed it and added that to the wreath.  On a piece of patterned paper from the Lemon Lush 6x6 paper pad by Studio Calico I stamped the outline "mom" in Versamark and embossed it in white and then colored it in with white gel pen.  I adhered the wreath with dimensional foam adhesive (yes, those again) and then adhered the patterned paper to a square white card base.  I hope it came out better than a science experiment gone wrong!

The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad set is an awesome set to use and is so versatile!  Even though there are many DAD references in this set, you can create so much more with it.  I plan to use it in my Project Life pages and definitely for male themed cards like this one.

I started with the argyle pattern stamped in Stampin' Up! Whisper White Craft ink.  This stamp is designed for creating a repeating pattern and was easy to use.  Next, I added three banner strips all cut from my Basic Grey stash.  This is the Serenade collection 6x6 paper pack.  Yummy color combos!  I built the sentiment using the small words from The Big, the Bold and You set.  Our "Mr." and the sentiment is stamped on Stampin' Up! kraft paper with Versamark ink and then embossed with Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder is the beautiful color of Midnight Bronze Obsidian.  Finally, I embellished lightly with copper pearls by Queen & Co. and gems from TPC Studio's Ancestral color pack.

On a side note, I only just realized when I added my image to this post that with that copper embossing, our guy reminds me of a Lincoln penny.  Not my intention, but made me smile!

Shay

The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad is all about Dad with some awesome images and sentiments that make masculine cards and many other types of cards a snap.  I had a vision of a military inspired card and wanted to incorporate The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad with some new items I had bought.  As we like to say, Winnie & Walter plays well with others!  We love to see how versatile and easy Winnie & Walter designs are to use with other products.

On the background I used a Cover Plate (center stage) die from Papertrey Ink cut from patterned paper by Amy Tangerine/American Crafts.  In the alternating chevrons I stamped the little sentiments in green ink.  On the main image I used some dies from Papertrey Ink (from their MakeIt Market Kit: Luxe Letterpress).  Using some Distress Ink and Copics I colored it in.  I stamped the "dad" in Versamark and embossed in gold.  I stamped "my hero" several times.  For the seal again I started with another Papertrey Ink die.  I covered the die cut cardstock with Versamark and gold embossed it.  I did this 3 times.  On the 3rd time, I pressed the father circle stamp into the still warm embossing powder.  Under the seal I added some tails (actually a part of the negative of the cover plate die).  I distressed the seal a bit with black soot Distress Ink.  I adhered the seal to the main sentiment image.  The image was adhered with foam dimensional adhesive to the card.

Now, on to some sensationally creative and dynamic projects by Angie Tieman + The Talent.

Hi everyone!  I'm really excited about our second release.  This set has such a great vintage feel but you can still achieve a modern look as well.  There are some great examples of that below.  As for this card, I was digging in my Basic Grey stash and found the Clippings papers and just had to use them.  That's saying a lot for me since I usually just look at my Basic Grey papers, and rarely use them.  I don't want them to run out - you know what I mean?  I pulled together a few of the papers and a couple of the coordinating stickers (the cute key and the little heart circle). I think the dark colors, vintage theme and pops of red look really great here in the collection, so I ran with that color scheme.

I wanted to use the men's shoes, so I stamped them on one of the subtle pattern papers in the pack and then colored them in with my Prisma pencils, and finally cut it with my circle punch. Quick and easy embellishment. Then I turned a Plain Jane manila tag into something more special.  A little Vintage Photo Distress Ink added with an ink blending tool, and the sentiments are stamped with Color Box Chalk ink in Dark Brown and Warm Red.  The tag was finished off with some suede ribbon tied in a little knot.

Shay



This set really can be used by anyone to make an easy card with a lot of impact.  Exhibit A above.  This is a very simple one layer card playing around with the fun purse image found in Parentville.  I used some fun colors in Mid-Tone Shadow Inks by Hero Arts. I then used Versamark to silver emboss "Mom" (yep, it's silver although the camera didn't pick that up too well).  To give the mom more impact I stamped the flourish under it.  Change up the colors to customize it and add some bling, splatter, enamel dots or other embellishments depending on which mom you are sending it to.



This is another simple card.  I stamped the Dad sentiment using Versamark and embossed it with a blue metallic embossing powder by American Crafts.  Next I stamped the supporting sentiment and shoes.  I colored in the shoes with Copics.  This panel I added with dimensional adhesive on top of a card base embossed with an embossing folder by Lifestyle Crafts. I then added a border of brown glitter tape by American Crafts.  Now you get to see the professionals do their magic!

We are so excited to share with you previews of our Second Release.  We have four stamp sets and their coordinating cut files releasing on March 15, 2014.

You may notice a theme for this release, because family is everything here at Winnie & Walter and we wanted to share our love for our parents with you, our w&w family!
