We are so happy to bring you our May Leading Lady, Anita in France! She caught our eye from the beginning of w&w with her clean, bright and fresh designs with a healthy dose of ingenuity when she would post her projects on our Join in to Win! page and entered our first Playdate Challenge. We loved her bold use of color and we think you will too for her lively, vibrant and fabulous first performance.
Soooo excited!! Not only did I get to spend an awesome week showcasing Winnie & Walter‘s amazing, brilliant and gorgeous new release … I also get to spend May as their Leading Lady! Wow … happy dancing … thrilled and honoured is an understatement … thank you so much to Julie and Shay for inviting me and for giving me the opportunity to play on the Winnie & Walter blog for all five Saturdays during the month … and share that time with you! I’ve been an ‘always’ Winnie & Walter fan since seeing the sneak peeks of (among others) their first The Big, The Bold series of sentiments in January last year … didn’t want to miss out on them coming to live at my house, so just *had* to get up at 5.00 in the morning to place an order when they were released! LOVE them … regular visitors will know they’re some of my most used stamps!
For those who aren’t regular visitors, here’s a little about me. I’m blessed to live in a simply splendid part of the world … south west France, where I spend my days (most of them) on our large scale, long term house renovation project … and my evenings (some of them) making cards. So I get to be creative almost all the time, whether with big, heavy things (stone, wood and the like) or small, light things (paper, stamps, ink …). I’ve crafted in one way or another since I can remember and got seriously into card making over two years ago, when I discovered blogland … a place full of wonderfully creative, warm and enthusiastic people who are a joy to spend time with! My style is pretty clean … love simple and/or graphic and lots of white space … and enjoy playing with techniques too … if they fit well with my neat freak tendencies!
So … how about some projects? I’m starting with some current favourites … rainbows, graphic shapes and die cutting … here’s a trio of cards designed to brighten and add colour to your day.
First up, happy …
These awesome faceted stripes are from the new True stamp set. They’re heat embossed in white, watercoloured with Distress Inks and a refilled Wink of Stella brush (that still has a little subtle sparkle in it), trimmed out and adhered in a very orderly fashion flat on the card base (I did mention those neat freak tendencies!). I die cut the In A Word: Happy twice and mounted the white over the black to create a shadow effect, before adhering it to the stripes. Lots of colour and a smidge of sparkle, so nothing else needed. Love how the different facets in those stripes show subtly different shades of the Distress Inks!
Next, here’s hello …
This is a one layer card … stamped using just one of the fabulous images from Scenery: Rectangled & Triangled. I pulled out a bunch of Memento Dew Drops, masked off the edges of the card and did some generational stamping. Starting at the top right, I inked the stamp in yellow and stamped it four times downwards without reinking … then going to the bottom right, I inked up orange and stamped, moving upwards without reinking … the lightest shades ended up next to one another in the middle. The pattern was continued into the next column, overlapping the first, and so on across the card … orange to red, red to pink, etc. I cut the In A Word:Hello (part of the new release) into the background and cut another from white card, lined the inside of the card and did some puzzle piecing, inlaying and adhering the die cuts onto the lining so the card is flat for mailing. Bonus … I have a spare coloured hello to use on another card!
Here’s the last card for this week …
Just look at all that lovely white space! This rainbow was stamped with the medium solid stripe from Scenery: Stripes … and then trimmed out. I used some removable scotch tape down the side of the panel to act as an edge so I could but up the little row of hearts die to it (from Cutaway Essentials:Audrey) … the tape made lining up easy and just pulled off afterwards. The hugs and kisses sentiment is from You’ve Got Love Mail and was stamped in Versamark, before the rainbow panel was popped up on slender slices of foam tape on the base. A few generous layers of Wink of Stella add some sparkle. Love that shadow effect behind those hearts!
I’ve had so much fun playing with Winnie & Walter goodies this week … and hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what I came up with! Julie and Shay have generously given me a $30 gift card to Winnie & Walter to give away this month … if you’d like to be in with a chance of winning it (oh the fun you could have!), leave a comment on each of my Leading Lady posts over on my blog (My Papercraft World) each week … five posts during May, five chances to win! I’ll do a random draw from all the comments and will announce the winner on Sunday 7 June!
Once again, huge thanks to Julie and Shay for having me … looking forward to coming back next week already … hope to see you here! Thanks so much for coming by, your visits and comments are always a joy! Anita :)

ReplyDeleteAnita, your creativity over the past week, and into today, makes abundantly clear why you've been selected as a GD and now, Leading Lady: you work magic with W&W products. I love the rainbow delights you've shared, each card revealing ooh la la precious, flair and style! At the risk of being repetitive: stunning and gorgeous! I've ordered a couple of these sets (or maybe more than a couple *grin*), so I hope you don't mind if I case your cards down the road (although my attempts will definitely be crooked!)
