January Leading Lady Andrea Shell | Take Four

As we come to the end of January, we also close out with the final fabulous performance of our January Leading Lady Andrea Shell!  Andrea has delighted each and every week this month with her sensationally colored projects.  Her projects are so wonderfully joyful, vibrant and inspiring.  I feel so blessed to have had Andrea as our leading lady this month.

If you missed her smashing debut you must see it...CLICK HERE or her pink and plaid extravaganza from her sensational second performance CLICK HERE or her triumphant third performance in which she takes your breath away with her garden inspired card CLICK HERE!

Lucky for us all we have her final command performance today....

Andrea_Shell_january2018

Hello, again! I can't believe January is almost over, and so is my time as Leading Lady. I have had a blast sharing my creations with you, and I hope I've inspired you even just a little. Thank you, Shay, for this wonderful opportunity! It was really hard to decide which "favorite thing" I would share for my last post, but in the end, I chose interactive cards. I love all kinds - from shaker cards to slider cards to cards that wobble. They are all so much fun to make AND to receive! If you haven't tried them already, I hope you will.

For my first project, I went with a simple shaker card. I just love this card - it would make a great Valentine for a child or even a sweet thank you note. That adorable birdie is from LS Exclusives: So Tweet with Evelin T Designs, and the vine is from Party On with Evelin T Designs. I stamped both with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics. To the bird I also added some details with a white gel pen and some sparkle with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Overlay.

Onto a white card, I white heat-embossed a sentiment from So Tweet. After ink-blending with Fossilized Amber distress oxide, I flicked on some water and blotted it dry. I inked up some Bristol Smooth paper with Worn Lipstick distress ink and flicked on some water. Once the panel was dry, I die-cut it with the heart cutaway. The Flawless Heart Cutaways frame that gorgeous sentiment perfectly!

I backed the heart opening with clear acetate and covered the panel with foam tape. I placed some iridescent sequins in the opening and topped the panel with my card. I adhered the vine and bird to the card and finished with a scattering of heart sequins.

This next card may be my favorite! I really wanted to combine a shaker element with a slider, and this is what I came up with. I started with that adorable image from Sweet Holiday with Evelin T Designs. I stamped the image twice with Memento Tuxedo Black ink - once with the bear's face masked and the other with the full image - and colored both with Copics. I fussy-cut both images, trimming the gift from the bear's face, and went around the edges of both images with a black marker.

The balloons are from The Party. I die-cut three balloons from Bristol Smooth paper. Onto the die-cut panel, I gold heat-embossed a sentiment from The Party before ink-blending with Squeezed Lemonade and Cracked Pistachio distress ink. To give the background a little more interest, I flicked on some water and blotted it dry. Onto another panel of Bristol paper, I marked where the balloons would be and ink-blended with Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, and Peacock Feathers distress ink, being sure to use masks to prevent getting ink from one balloon on the others.

Ta da! A peekaboo bear! To make him I used a ruler and my Xacto knife to cut a track into my die-cut panel. I adhered a plastic slider disc to a small white circle and placed the panel on top so that the disc was in the track. To the disc I adhered a small white banner and adhered the bear on top. I placed tiny bits of foam tape on the bottom of the gift and adhered it on top of the bear. I dressed up the banner with a sentiment from Tagged: Holiday Cheer and added some white details and sparkle to my image. I built my shaker element just as I did for the first card (I wish I had used some anti-static powder to prevent my sequins from sticking to the foam tape, but I was impatient to see the final result.) and adhered the whole thing to a white card.

Thank you for stopping by! If you'd like a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to Winnie & Walter, leave a comment on all of the Leading Lady posts on my blog by January 31st at midnight CST. I will randomly draw a winner from all of the comments and post it on my blog on Saturday, February 3rd.

Happy New Year!  (By the way we have a big giveaway going on HERE until next Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. CST)  The Party is really a great set for creating joyful cards for happy occasions.  I thought it would be a great set to begin 2018 with.

shay_IMG_4265

I began with using my new to me Distress Oxide Inks in green/blues that I flicked with water.  Then I stamped the large and small round lantern shapes and larger tassel in navy all over the panel.  The colors were pretty blah so I got out fuchsia, yellow and green inks to watercolor in.  I added some gold ink to the fuchsia lamps.  With a metallic purple pen I added a line to attach the two lamps together.  I also inked the edges of the panel with navy.

For the sentiment I cut out the second to smallest balloon from Big Round Balloon Cutaways and stamped it in navy.  I colored in the balloon with yellow watered down ink then I wrapped some gold thread around the base of the balloon and allowed it to have an organic tail.  I attached the balloon to the panel with dimensional foam adhesive.

Last, I added some gold glitter enamel dots before I attached the panel to a white cardstock A2 card base.

December Leading Lady Kimberly Rendino | Take Five

As December and 2017 comes to an end we sadly must bid au revoir to our delightful December Leading Lady, Kimberly Rendino.    The last five weeks with Kimberly have been full of incredible inspiration, awesome projects and amazing artistry.  Kimberly showed her keen skills, cleverness and creativity week after week.  I feel so very blessed Kimberly shared her talents with us this month and capped this wonderful year of leading ladies.

If you missed her smashing debut you must see it CLICK HERE
or her sensational second performance where she makes magic without getting inky CLICK HERE or her triumphant third performance with a festive and fun concentration on sequins CLICK HERE or her fantastic fourth performance that's full of a dizzying array of terrific tags CLICK HERE.

Lucky for us all we have her final command performance today.

Hello again!   I'm back for my final performance as Leading Lady - I can't tell you how exciting this month has been!  I've loved every minute of creating with my awesome winnie & walter goodies.  Thanks so much, Shay, for inviting me to create with your wonderful products!

I broke out one of my older winnie & walter favorites, The Party to create a simple New Year's card.   I stamped the streamers and party horns with Delicata gold & silver inks.   They pop on the black cardstock!  These inks stay wet for a bit, so I let them dry for a few minutes, then lightly brushed over everything, which left a fine dusting of sparkles over the entire card.   The sentiment, from In a Word: Merry, was heat embossed in silver and popped up on the card with foam tape.

A few scattered sequins finished off the panel, which was then adhered to some shiny gold paper I found in my stash!

Thank you so much for hanging out with me this month on the winnie & walter blog!  I'd like to wish everyone a very healthy and happy New Year!   Take care, crafty friends!

Before you go, don't forget to leave a comment over on my blog, Kimplete Kreativity, for a chance to win a gift card from winnie & walter!

Rerun No. 15 | Happy Birthday with Vanessa

Hi everybody! Vanessa here with a colorful birthday card. I wanted to use the current Rerun set Scenery: It's a Wonderful Pennant to create a happy birthday banner with various patterned papers.

First, I stamped the small pennant onto scraps of patterned paper and fussy-cut them. Then I adhered a piece of twine to the Kraft card base and adhered the pennants to it with foam tape. I stamped the birds onto white cardstock, colored them with Copics and die-cut them with the matching dies. After I had adhered the birds, I stamped the sentiment and finished the card off with matching sequins.

This is a great way of using up patterned paper scraps! I am glad I was able to use some bits of my hoarded stash :)

I hope you'll join us for this month's Rerun! Find all the details here.

Thanks for stopping by!

WCMD 2016 | Stretch Your Stamps with Kelly

To get all the information about w&w WCMD 2016 CLICK HERE.

Hi Folks! Kelly here with another fun challenge at Winnie & Walter in honor of World Card Making Day. This one is all about stretching your stamps, something that makes me feel quite accomplished whenever I can do it. Not only is it an exercise in creatively (can I think of a way to use this stamp in a manner other than it was intended?) but it's also very economical if I can get by with using what I've already got!

So here's my challenge to you:

Use a stamp/die/stencil in a way that is different than originally intended.

For example, you might ink a Christmas present stamp in a color other than red or green and use it on a birthday card. Or use a sentiment stamp for something other than a sentiment (to fill in a shape?)

Another example is to modify a focal point stamp, like this round tree from Kindness with Evelin T. Designs, and use it to create your own background...

... like this! Instead of inking the entire stamp and stamping it once on the card for a focal point, I inked up the circle part of the stamp (not including the trunk) and stamped it multiple times to create a graphic background. The circles do still have the branch in the middle, but since I rotated the stamp in different directions, I was hoping that would call less attention to its origins as a tree.

The adorable bird and balloon are from LS Exclusives So Tweet with Evelin T. Designs, and the sentiment is from The Party. I added some b&w washi tape to the top of the sentiment flag. And then some fun red and pink polka-dot patterned paper inside.

So, now it's over to you! What magic can you create by using your stamps in a way that's not intended? I sure hope you can play along. I'll be watching to see what you create!

Thanks for looking!
- Kelly

Prize: One randomly chosen project that is linked up will win $50.00 gift credit to the w&w shop.

w&w Belated 2nd Birthday Bash | Two Challenge with Shay

w&w_bb2ndb_challengefinal

Hello fellow party goers!  It's Shay here.  I am so excited to bring you my challenge.  To commemorate our 2nd birthday I am following up on my One Challenge from last year.  This year it is the Two Challenge!

>>>CHALLENGE DETAILS<<<

Make a new project using the number 2 or two, two colors, two patterns, two layers, two embellishments, two photos, two words or two stamp sets (and so on)...really anyway to incorporate two into your project!  You can focus on a single option or combine the options (for instance a two layer card using two colors + two embellishments).

>>>MY PROJECTS<<<

Card No. 1

shay_IMG_3924

I drew in and then painted in the 2 using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in watered down picked raspberry and outlining it in hickory smoke.  From there I used the circles and the two largest outline circles from Scenery: BIGGER Bang Confetti to create a background using Simon Says Stamp white ink, a pale pink ink and second generation picked raspberry solid circles and the outline in Tim Holtz Distress Ink in hickory smoke.  I stamped the sentiment from The Party in black Versafine ink.  I added sequins in pink and iridescent.  With dimensional foam adhesive I attached the panel to a piece of patterned paper from the Shine collection by Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper. It was all attached to an A2 card base using foam adhesive.

shay_IMG_3927

How 2 is used: that is 2 colors: pink + grey/black (white is a freebie) + 2 colors of  sequins + 2 stamp sets + a huge "2".

Card No. 2 (and 3)

shay_IMG_3919

I went a different direction here: 2 cards.

shay_IMG_3929

I began with a single panel of 4.25 x 5.5 white cardstock.  I stamped a plaid pattern using Scenery: Stripes and Tim Holtz Distress Ink in peacock feathers, twisted citron, mowed lawn, blueprint sketch and hickory smoke.  Remember to ink up with Versamark first so the Distress Ink sticks to it.

Then I cut the panel in half lengthwise.  From there I was able to create 2 cards.  I added a border of navy cardstock under the plaid before attaching the navy and plaid to the A2 card base and stamped the sentiment from A Tree for All Seasons on 2 white A2 card bases one in twisted citron and one in peacock feathers.  I accented each with enamel dots.

shay_IMG_3922 shay_IMG_3923

How 2 is used: that is 2 cards from a stamped pattern + 2 stamp sets.
