Julie here - I'm dropping in on the blog to share the projects I created for iNSD 2015 based on some of the challenges (and giveaways) we hosted with the fabulous Pinkfresh Studio last Saturday. Have you had a chance to play? I have a difficult time playing on the big day because I am a very slow scrapper, not to mention, I pulled a lot of my photos from a video of my niece and that took tons of time - but it was worth it. It was great to have the opportunity to work a little longer on my projects than just on that one day - plus - I got to spread out the fun!
If you haven't started your projects yet, or you are asking "What projects? What giveaways?", don't worry. You still have some time to create a project and even a little more time to enter one of the challenges. Here is a recap of the topics and links to the inspiration blog posts.
- Create Your Own Background Challenge (w&w)
- PFS Product Challenge: Puffy Stickers (Pinkfresh Studio)
- Mood Board Challenge (w&w)
- Card Sketch Challenge (w&w)
- Color Challenge (Pinkfresh Studio)
- w&w Product Challenge: Sequins (w&w)
- Layout Sketch Challenge (Pinkfresh Studio)
Simply make a project inspired by the challenge and link them up using the link-up tool on the appropriate challenge post. You do not have to use w&w and/or Pinkfresh Studio products but we would certainly love it if you did. :-)
If you share photos of your challenge projects, tag both Pinkfresh Studio and Winnie & Walter, and also use the hashtag #insdwwpfs2015 for a chance to win other prizes!
All the challenges will be open until 11:55 p.m. CST Saturday, May 9, 2015 to give you time to play along.
OK - Here is my take on a few of these projects.
Create Your Own Background
I really struggle with a blank canvas, and this was no exception, but I just started grabbing items and jumped right in. In the background you will find the Classic Diagonal and Big Bang Classic Star Creative Screenings. Next, I stamped and white embossed the new faceted star from the True stamp set, sprayed them down with water, and then dripped Dylusions ink sprays from the bottom tip of the sprayer, and then let the colors swirl a little, and then some drippage. The final addition to the bg was a little splatter of the Mister Huey's opaque white.
The corner pieces were cut from Pinkfresh Circle Abstract paper along the facets to coordinate with the facet stars. I think they are a fun element. The same paper is used to cut the In a Word: Hello Cutaway, which I also cut in white to offset. I think it helps it pop from the background. Walter's name was added from my hoarded stash of American Crafts Thickers titled Fantastic in limeade. Yes and YES! The final embellishment was one of those oh so cute woodgrain phrases. *sigh* Those are so darn cute!
OK - quick note - I love when Walter and Davis play this game (first photo) where Davis sticks his tongue out, and then Walter copies him and then both are looking at each other, chins jutted out. THE CUTEST! LOL
Card Sketch and Color Challenge
This card sketch was so fun, but I have to admit, my colors are a little far from neon pink. But gold - GOLD is in full force on this card. Gold glitter tape - check! Gold foil embossed heart cut from Pinkfresh jounal card - check!! In Bloom: Addie's Garden flower and leaves (2 stamped, one cut smaller and popped above for dimension) stamped and embossed in gold - check!!! Simply elegant sentiment from A Tree for All Seasons also embossed in gold - check!!! love love love
Moodboard
OK - speaking of love....Miss Kamilla is featured on these four pages from my mini album. She is growing up so fast! She's nearly 2 1/2 and is really enjoying life. She's saying a few words (that we understand), she can color for literally hours (you know what that means? crafty time when she gets older - yea!) and she's just a cutie patootie!
So, I kept with the gold and you will see it popping up here and there throughout these pages. On the first page, her large photo is matted on gold paper against Pinkfresh Confetti Rain paper and I added some flowers from In Bloom: Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya and some hearts from Parentville Extras. The Enjoy sentiment is from Sugar Rush added alongside the Pinkfresh watercolor letter stickers on vellum. On the right, the journal strip is also cut from Pinkfresh paper and I added some gold butterfly die cuts from the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways set. I added another fun wood word strip from Pinkfresh, but pardon me for getting to embellish the hole. Gotta find just the right gem for that. Isn't that fun!?! Lots of moodboard elements too - blues, watercolor, butterflies. Great inspiration there.
Product Challenge
For these last two pages, I added more sentiments created from Sugar Rush, True and My Precious, all embossed in gold, as well as the addition of the birds (Pinkfresh paper cut 4x6 - on the red tree and the house) and little flowers on the pink meadow from A Tree for All Seasons. I added sequins to several of the elements on this sweet illustration that was perfect for Easter. The little strip between the photos and this card was BEGGING for BLING! I lined it with scor-tape and dug through my stash of sequins and started lining them up. LOVE how that turned out. That would be great on a card too!!! Last but not least, I also cut the little gold hearts at the top right from the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways.
I hope this inspires you to play along with us. And I think the prizes are pretty great, if I do say so myself! LOL
Don't forget - all the challenges will be open until 11:55 p.m. CST Saturday, May 9, 2015 to give you time to join in! We hope you will!
Have an amazing day!
