Today we have some essentials for you!

Scenery: Stripes has some basic stripes at a wonderful length of 5.75 inches so you can cover the length either way of an A2  (4.25 inches x 5.5 inches) card front.  This is a must-have stamp set!

We also are introducing our Essentials line with Essentials: Katharine Cutaways.  These are cutaways (dies) that can be used to layer in your crafting project or each used alone.  We named it Katharine after the indomitable Katharine Hepburn.   There is a small pierced hole detail on the several on the largest layering dies that is elegant without being fussy...a true classic!

Our next series of cutaways to introduce is In a Word.  We are coming out with three (3) to begin with: In a Word: Cheers Cutaway + In a Word: Happy Cutaway + In a Word: Love Cutaway.  These dies are so fun and versatile that they will go with any style of crafting and since they are a bit chunkier than our The Big, the Bold series they would be ideal for some shaker projects too. :-)

Hello, Hello, Hello!  I am here to share some of my creations using Scenery: Stripes and some of our new cutaways (so excited for these!).  Julie and I have really wanted some basics sets that can be used in so many ways, for all sorts of applications and the Scenery: Stripes are so incredibly versatile and can be used for masculine projects too!

Cards 1 + 2

I make quite a few masculine birthday cards each year for uncles, cousins, my dad and the like (guys outnumber the gals on both sides of my family).  I actually like making masculine cards and with Scenery: Stripes I was able to create 2 cards in a short time (for me! lol) with a few variations to make them each different.

Of course the stripes can be stamped horizontally, vertically or diagonally.  For my first card I stamped horizontally with worn jeans for the thicker stripe and stormy skies for the thinner stripe (I usually ink up the stamp first with Versamark before using Distress Inks for better coverage).  On the larger tag found in the Essentials: Katharine Cutaways I matched up the stripes.  I added with foam dimensional adhesive the In a Word: Cheers Cutaway cut from white cardstock.  On the banner also from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways I stamped the small words found in another stamp set being featured tomorrow in Versamark and embossed in white and then colored the banner with worn jeans Distress Ink.  All of the inks are Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

For the second card I wanted to make a more layered pattern vertically.  I started with the thicker bold stripe and then stamped over it with the 5 lined stripe both in mowed lawn.  The thinner bold stripe was stamped in tumbled glass and then stamped over that with the dashed stripe in salty ocean.  I adhered a white happy cut used the In a Word: Happy Cutaway and then adhered it to the card with foam dimensional adhesive.  The banner cut from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways was stamped in salty ocean using a sentiment from Sugar Rush which we will be featuring tomorrow.  The stars are from Big Bang Confetti Cutaways being featured tomorrow too. :-)  And I had to add some sequins. lol

Card 3

For my last card today I went a little...wild. lol  As inspiration for the colors I used the Taheerah's Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge No. 41 FOUND HERE.  Did I mention we are sponsoring Taheerah's challenge?  

Beginning with the smaller rectangle layer from Essentials: Katharine Cutaways, I pulled out my neon inks and daubers by Hero Arts and curved the second thinnest solid stripe to create sweeping lines in five colors.  I then used a similar curve for the dashed stripe in black.  I adhered 2 different cutaways, Goldie Trim Cutaways and Lulu Fringe Cutaway (we will be premiering these later this week), colored with neon daubers.  I stamped the little words from The Big, the Bold and Party in Versamark and embossed them in white on a strip of black cardstock.  I stamped and embossed "party" from The Big, the Bold and Party in grapefruit Zing! embossing powder.  The black stars are from a special stamp set you will learn about tomorrow. ;-)

I added the white layer to a black panel and then adhered it all to a fuchsia card base.

Last this sucker was begging for sparkle and shine so I added it with some sweet little sequins.

This card would be excellent for Fiesta or Mardi Gras. :-)

Now, it is time to see the real stars in action beginning with our Playdate No. 4 Challenge Winner, Tenia!  Be prepared to be amazed!!
