Hello, hello, hello! I'm so happy to be here on the
Winnie & Walter blog for the new 'Spotlight On' feature. When I got
that email from Shay, I confess.....I did a little happy dance!
So....a little bit about me. I've been married to my
husband, Joe, for 17 years and I am mom to two awesome (most of the time!) kids
- Alex who just turned 14 and Arissa, 11. I just ventured back to work
this year, as a substitute teacher's aide. It's the perfect job - I'm
not on a regular work schedule, so I have lots of time to get crafty!
I've been crafty as long as I can remember - scrapbooking gave way to
cards a few years back. I'm a huge fan of w&w
stamps - my collection keeps growing and I look forward to each new release!
<<<KIMBERLY'S PROJECTS>>>
The theme of the month is 'Fiesta', and I may have gotten a
little carried away in the craft room! I thought I'd try to step outside
the box a little and work with pastels. I'm normally a brights kinda
gal, so this was a stretch for me!
First up is a card featuring the sets Scenery - The Party Hangover and The Party. I die cut a window into the front of the
card and stamped and embossed the streamers and sentiment onto the front.
I colored the streamers in on the back side of the
vellum with Copics for a soft, pastel look.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut the gifts and arranged them
in the corner of the window. A few Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear
sequins finish the card off!
Next up is a quick card using The Party. I stamped the flower overlapping itself and
added some Copic colored adhesive pearls to the center of each. The
sentiment from The Big, the Bold, and the Happy finished this card
off in record time!
For my last card today, I blended several colors of Distress
Inks for an ombre background, then added the fussy cut party hat from The Party towards the center. I added the top
and bottom to the hat with embossing powder. I decided to add some more
to the background, so I masked the hat and used Scenery: Big Bang Circle Creative Screenings with some
translucent embossing paste (leaving room for the sentiment). As soon as
I removed the stencil I sprinkled some glitter over the top. I
fussy cut the horn and added some more heat embossing to it to tie everything
together.
Phew! That's all for today. Thanks for hanging
in there with me! I hope you enjoyed these projects - I enjoyed the
challenge of creating with pastels - sometimes its nice to step out of the box!
