Welcome one and all! It's time to party in celebration of
Catherine Pooler's redesigned and beautiful "new" blog
catherinepooler.com. All the dust has settled and Catherine's always fabulous blog is now even more gorgeous and more of a pleasure to visit for inspiration! You are going to love it so much. And this party is for everyone as it is also linky party that you can participate in for the upcoming week using the theme HOME! All the details can be found at
catherinepooler.com!
Julie and I (Shay) are one of the sponsors for Catherine's party and we are thrilled to be able to participate. When Catherine mentioned the theme of home I was just so excited! We have our brand new "Texas" sized
This Awesome House which is perfect for this theme.
I went with something very neutral and subtle with touches of my-can't-craft-without gold with hints of autumn (being in Texas autumn is always a joy to welcome after the long stretch of blistering heat). I actually rarely use anything but bright white with some punch of color so this was a departure for me. It's good to try something outside our comfort zone, right (even as I wonder if I should have done something with more color lol)?
For an ethereal look I stamped the house on vellum in cup o'joe Hero Arts Mid-Tone Shadow Ink...this will not dry immediately (just a warning). I used some Copics (E01 Pink Flamingo + E43 Dull Ivory) to color in the image and the ink smeared into markers which I liked as it gave the lines a softness I was going for. Carefully I used my heat tool to help dry the ink and marker (remember that alcohol is flammable!). I then flipped the image over so the inked and colored in side was face down. I sewed the vellum house panel onto a panel of natural colored cardstock. Over the thread I used a Zig Wink of Stella pen in gold (0.8 mm). On a manila tag I stamped the sentiment also from
This Awesome House (and perfect for this theme!) in Versamark and heat embossed it in gold. I cut it out into a banner shape and added a stitched border in gold using the same Wink of Stella gold pen. I adhered it to the vellum panel. For more defined lines a great way of doing that would be to stamp the house in brown ink under the vellum and match up the vellum house with the house underneath for dimension and more depth.
On a natural card I stamped the leaves on the left-side from
A Tree for All Seasons in Versamark and then heat embossed it in gold. Don't you love these leaves? They are modern and elegant. I colored in the maple leaves with a Copic (E01 Pink Flamingo) which reacted a bit with the embossing powder when the Copic touched the embossed bits. With dimensional foam adhesive I added the vellum panel over the card.
What do you think? Do you like how the house with the vellum + ink + Copics turned out? Going to try it too? We would love to see if you do!
