Thank You | Thanks

We've restocked Scenery: Big Bang Confetti and The Big, the Bold and You!
========================================================================

Hello!  It's Shay (Winnie's human) here today.  As I am so behind on my thank yous {hanging head in shame}, I thought I would share some thank you cards this week with you.  I think having a healthy stash of thank you notes or cards is always smart.

Not only do I make thank you's to use for myself, but my family also put in orders.  My mom wanted some thank you notes for friends and family for various reasons and demanded asked me to make them using w&w stamps (so as my mom said, "I can brag").  What I do like about receiving my marching orders is that I use the person I am making the cards for as my inspiration.

shaythankyou1

For the super simple cards I am sharing with you today I picked favorite colors of my mom.  I *love* stencils and have been collecting them for years so this was a perfect opportunity to use one of them.

We interrupt your program to share this fun (totally unsolicited) service announcement:

Virginia Lu has a brand new challenge blog, Virginia's View Challenge, and this month's challenge Virginia's View Challenge #2 is all about using stencils.  So pull out your stencils, have some fun craftventuring (craft + adventuring--it should be a word and so I am making it one!) and make sure to enter her challenge!

And we're back.

shaythankyou2

I also love chevrons so I pulled out an older chevron stencil from Studio Calico and my handy Distress Inks (they've been needing some love lately) along with an ink blending tool (got to get a mini or two!) and sponged on the color.  The blue is stormy sky and the pink is worn lipstick.  Last month we released The Big, the Bold and You (now restocked!) that includes "thanks".  This comes in so handy.  I stamped it in Versamark ink and then heat embossed it in gold.

shaythankyou3

I pulled out the sweet bow from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom (a motto of my mom's could be "stick a bow on it!" rather than a bird).  Using Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow inks in navy and royal red I stamped the bow on a scrap piece of white cardstock.  With Distress Inks once again, I painted the bow in with a water-brush using stormy sky along with chipped sapphire and then worn lipstick along with festive berries.  After doing some easy and fun watercoloring, I let the bows dry a little (I was a bit too impatient and I would recommend setting it aside for twenty minutes or so to dry) and then cut them out.  To give them some more pizzazz I painted on some Mister Huey's Calico Shine by Studio Calico.  I adhered the bow onto the card with dimensional adhesive.  So easy!

When I showed my mom these cards, she liked them but said they needed bling so for those like my mom who want more add some bling, sequins, flowers or whatever else makes your heart happy.  These cards are so easy to customize by changing up the sentiment, colors, image(s) and stencil design.

Thank YOU for visiting today!  Should you like to play along with making thank yous with me this week, please link up your project on our join in to win! page so you get a chance to win a stamp set of your choice at the end of the month.

Shay.

Our First Playdate Winner + March's Giveaway Winners

When we began the Playdate we didn't know it was going to be so gosh darn hard to pick one winner!  We were thrilled by every entry and appreciate that you graced us with your talents.  We truly love each of you and think you are all big-time winners.  Thank you so very much for participating!

As all of the projects were awesome, after much agonized discussion, it was how the winner interpreted the inspiration photo that clinched it for us.  We felt her card was such a clever play on the design found in the photo of the family made with fun colors, boldness and vivaciousness.

Without further ado here is the winning entry:

shirley-bee.playdate1

Shirley-bee aka Shirley Bampton, come on down!  We love the thought you put into this eye-catching card. Shirley stamped the hellos four times to represent the family members in the photo and then also had the words touch as does the family.  The lighter hued shadow hello is a lovely touch as is the hand-drawn border all on a polka dot border.

Shirley, please contact us at info {at} winniewalter {dot} com!

We can't wait for our next Playdate and we promise we won't make it as much of a challenge as our first. :-)

>>>MARCH'S GIVEAWAY WINNERS<<<

And our random March giveaway winners.  Woohoo!

March's #wwcraftcompanion winner culled from those who posted their craft companion on Instagram using #wwcraftcompanion (we will be putting this giveaway on ice until or if we get more interest):

Second Spotlight on Heather Pulvirenti

HeatherDT600
Our spotlight shines at last on the colorful and bold Heather Pulvirenti.  We adore Heather's amazing ability with color, pattern and design.  She makes it took effortless, seamless and natural which is a true gift as anyone who plays with these elements knows it certainly is not!  In fact, how Heather picks color is an art in itself!

>>>PARENTVILLE<<<

HP - Parentsville
Look at those colors giving Parentville life!  Heather has some traditional navy and grey and then livens up the card with aqua and sunshine yellow.  And that large heart framed by cut out circle paired with the "dad" on a popped up banner is modern and unexpected.  The "happy father's day" is certainly not lost as it white embossed on a strip of vibrant yellow.  One of the details which is really fantastic is the diamond pattern paper Heather created!  So suave!

CLICK HERE to see Heather's post about Parentville.

>>>THE BIG, THE BOLD AND YOU<<<

HP - Big Bold You
Soft colors with bold patterns makes this card a delight!  Here we have an organic pink leaf on a graphic grey and white chevron patterned paper and it works!  Heather chose to so something also really fun by white embossing the sentiment from The Big, the Bold and You over the the slightly raised leaves to give it interest and dimension as it becomes part of the leaf where it touches.  So lovely!

CLICK HERE to see Heather's post about The Big, the Bold and You.

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO DAD<<<

HP - Leave It to Dad

Heather's journaling cards are something to always get excited about.  There is so much going on and they all work so well together.  I bet they would be stunning on a layout, card, or pocket journaling too.  On this pair she used not only The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad expertly, but also worked in the numbers and ledger heart from The Write Stuff: Love Story, "love" from You've Got Love Mail (did you know that is Julie's handwriting?) and the diamond border from Parentville. Way to work the stamps, Heather!

HP - Leave It to Dad 2

Using the same not-stuffy-whatsoever male friendly color palette, Heather made another couple of journaling cards with The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad along with the ticket from The Write Stuff: Love Story.  She also stamped the bow tie from Parentville on one of the love tickets.  Wow, she knows how to play with all the stamp sets.  This warms our hearts as we do try to make stamp sets work together from release to release.  These two cards have strong backgrounds one from embossing and the other due to Heather's stamping of the argyle pattern found in The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad.   Perfection!

CLICK HERE to see Heather's post about The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad.

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO MOM<<<

HP - Leave It to Mom

Here comes a lovely Mom card!  Heather expertly frames the fussy cut "mom" from Parentville with the frame from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom and double layers of leaves including one in vellum and a white embossed bow from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom.  Again the simple design, color palette and patterns are spot on and make this a gorgeous card with a fresh feel!

Color us impressed!  Heather, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Please make sure to share your love with Heather here and on her blog HERE.

========================================================================
JoniDT600

Our next spotlight is on one star-bright and dazzling talent, Joni Andaya.  Joni may well have a golden touch when it comes to creating as whatever she makes is gorgeous.  She's a rising star in the stamping world for good reason (look at her exciting news)!  Wait until you see all of her Second Release projects together!

>>>PARENTVILLE<<<

joniDad1000ww

We knew Joni had pretty mastered, but Joni also has guy cards master too!  Look at how she used a great palette of black, grey and yellow along with patterns to create this visually exciting card.  By stamping the wallet and shoes in pale grey and coloring in bits of it they look more like drawings than stamps.  And her use of the diamond border frames the sentiment and cluster of images all from Parentville perfectly.  The little touches of stars from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti is awesome.  And with the fun angle at the bottom she gives everything a trendy twist.

jonimom1000ww

This card by Joni is so much fun with it's punchy colors and watercolor effect using Parentville!  The card feels fresh, flirty and modern and would be perfect for the young or young at heart mother.  A stunner!

joniParentsville---300ww

Joni really hit this Parentville card out of the park.  It plays up traditional dad images and with some wonderful inking along with use of the Parentville cut files and Cut File Basics Vol. 1 she dialed up the cool factor to 11!  She also customized the bow tie die with some polka dots.  So dapper!

joniMom-11ww
Delicate and lovely this gorgeous card by Joni pairs Parentville with The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom stamp set and The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom cut files.  Love the stamping of the shoes in a light color and lightly shading it in!  The use of the doily embossing folder with the images along with the fact that Joni adds some color here and there to highlight the texture and design is so very smart!

CLICK HERE to see Joni's post about Parentville.

>>>THE BIG, THE BOLD AND YOU<<<

joniyouww

Here is Joni making The Big, the Bold and You pretty by masterfully building her own flowers using the leaf image from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom.  Sigh!  She paired the leaves and flowers with the circles from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti.  She made the "are amazing" sentiment pop by stamping on a colored piece of cardstock and adding dimensional adhesive.  The wood grain patterned paper and use of speech bubble border die finish off this card with trendy goodness.

joniThe-big-bold22ww

This thanks using The Big, Bold and You is like a breath of fresh air with rich fruity color and those flower clusters from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom and the circles from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti that Joni is so fantastic at!  The horizontal stripes are lovely and the pink bow from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom is such a sweet touch.  The tilted background gives this card an added flair.  Fantastic!

CLICK HERE to see Joni's post about The Big, the Bold and You.

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO DAD<<<

jonidad4ww

Man, this is such an attention grabber!   Joni makes the father and son cut file from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad stand out by making it the star of this card and the faint inking adds a touch of color.  Finished off with sentiments and the argyle border from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad this proves Joni does guy cards with panache.

joni_w&wday2_LeaveToDad_FatherKnowsBest

This is one handsome card!  Joni used so many of the sentiments along with the silhouette framed by the frame from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad.  The light inking on over the silhouette is such a great touch.  Her coloring in of the frame gives it so much depth and interest.  She accents this all with the father circle from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad and the sentiment from Parentville.  This is all placed on strips of patterned paper.  So very charming!

CLICK HERE for Joni's post about The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad.

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO MOM<<<

joniLeave-it-to-mom41ww

With the use of the The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom cut files blown up large, Joni made this spectacular shaker card.  The colors are luscious and the little banner with the sentiment from Parentville completes this clean and simple card with such a huge presence!

jonimom67wsw

One layer wonder here!  This card may be one layer, but it has plenty of depth and interest thanks to Joni's flowers, use of color and inking.  She uses the flowers and leaves from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom along with circles from Scenery: Big Bang Scenery to create these fabulous florals.  The sentiment come from Parentville.  So pretty!

joniMom-1ww

Ah, talk about beautiful! Joni made this amazingly pretty white card with dainty hints of color using The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom stamp set and The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom cut files.  The crowning glory of the card is the mom silhouette cut file that Joni then embossed with gold.  See golden touch!

Overloaded with spectacular beauty and inspiration?  Yep, we feel you.  Our deepest thanks to Joni!

========================================================================
KellyDT600
We are so excited to shine the spotlight on Kelly Griglione today and her sensational projects for our Second Release.  You want inspiration?  You've got it in spades with Kelly.  She will take you on a mind trip and open your eyes to the boundless possibilities.  Seriously!

>>>PARENTVILLE<<<

kellywinnie-&-walter-Parent

Kelly created this nifty card for dad that is traditional and modern all at once.  The real star of this card is the paper pieced wallet from Parentville that looks like it is made from leather.  Another great detail was accentuating the "dad" with white.

kellyFashionable-Mother's-D

Kelly's generation stamping creates a candy-bright joyous background for this card for mom using Parentville.  The touches of sequins add a touch of glamour to this fabulous one layer card.

kellyDapper-Fathers-Day-Han

A bow tie background in father-friendly but not stuffy colors make this a truly great father's day card with the help of Parentville.  Kelly even added the linen texture to the stamp for texture!  Bow-tiful...yep, went there.

CLICK HERE to see Kelly's post about Parentville.

>>>THE BIG, THE BOLD AND YOU<<<

kellywinnie-&-walter-Leave-

Just love how Kelly paired the frame from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom with The Big, the Bold and You, The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom cut files and Scenery: Big Bang Confetti for this tremendously fun and sassy card.

kellyPotty-People-Million-T

Here is an adorable card featuring The Big, the Bold and You accented with the diamonds from Parentville.  The little person was made using the child from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad cut files or The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom cut files as a stencil.  Did you know Kelly used a packing peanut to create the texture on the little one?  So clever!

CLICK HERE to see Kelly's post about The Big, the Bold and You.

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO DAD<<<

Kelly_Pop Art Andy Warhol Card for Fathers Day

Kelly does it again with this terrific pop inspired card ala Andy Warhol by embossing the dad silhouette from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad.  She finished off the card with a pops sentiment.  Kelly's one cool cat and certainly will make the man who receives this card feel that way too!

Kelly_Dad Silhouette For Father's Day Handmade Card

This striking and dapper card by Kelly was made using The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad cut files with "dad" from Parentville embossed in a bold gold.  Can you imagine this same card being placed into a frame to decorate dad's office either at home at work?  Incredibly handsome!

Kelly_Potty People Fathers Day DIY Card

Pairing up The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad cut files with stamps, Kelly wows once again.  Here her card features "daddy-o" from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad and pairing of "love" from The Big, the Bold, and the Happy and "you" from The Big, the Bold and You.   She topped off this love-felt card by sprinkling some stars from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti.  She didn't stop there, but also created a matching envelope.  Awesome-O!

CLICK HERE to see Kelly's post about The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad.

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO MOM<<<

Kelly_MOM Text Flowers For Mothers Day Card

What is there to say about this wonder of a card?  She made flowers from the "mom" in The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom!!  Genius.  She also added a sentiment from The Big, the Bold and You and some grass-like stars from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti.

Kelly_Watercolor Flowers Thinking of Mom Card

Here's a pretty watercolor floral card using the flowers from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom.  The effect is lovely and effervescent.  She added the "thinking of you" from Parentville along with the "mom" from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom.  So pretty!

Kelly_Big Bold You Female Silhouette Card

This is a very kinetic card and nearly bionic.  Here Kelly played with the silhouette from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom in such an entirely unique and well...amazing way.  The colors are fantastic and the addition of the gold embossed "you" from The Big, the Bold and You vertically filling in the darkest silhouette makes this card even more eye-catching.  Finishing it off with the smaller sentiments also from The Big, the Bold and You along with enamel dots makes this card a stunner!

CLICK HERE to see Kelly's post about The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom.

Dazzled yet?  We are!  We humbly thank you, Kelly!

SuzanneDT600
Today we have the pleasure of highlighting the projects by the ever elegant, talented and gracious, Suzanne Dahlberg.  Did you know she made these beauties all in the midst of moving!  She's amazing.

>>>PARENTVILLE<<<

suzanne_parentsville2

This is a deceptively simple card using Parentville with just the exact right balance of color and pattern.  The delicately paper pieced heals grounded by the swash of aqua is just perfect!

suzanne_parentsville1

This is a clever take on the sentiment with the glove image from Parentville is happy, bright and cheeky!  Like Kelly said, the use of part of the rainbow is refreshing and fabulous.

CLICK HERE to see Suzanne's post about Parentville.

>>>THE BIG, THE BOLD AND YOU<<<

  suzanne_bold

Here we have a card that is simply lovely and so Suzanne!  She's made the "congrats!" from The Big, the Bold and You stand out in a pretty pink backdrop sprinkled with flowers from The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom and artfully placed pearls. The addition of the scalloped border under the congrats accentuates the sentiment.

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO DAD<<<

suzanne_dad

This card shows that although Suzanne usually does breathtaking clean and simple projects she also has a flair for making a layered card!  The soft colors make the many patterns work seamlessly together.  She's tucked in so much goodness into this one card and really shows how fun it is to use The Write Stuff: Leave it to Dad!

>>>THE WRITE STUFF: LEAVE IT TO MOM<<<

suzanne_mom

Unexpected, fresh, modern and pretty this is another quintessential Suzanne card!  The asymmetrical strips really add a lot of drama to this card using The Write Stuff: Leave it to Mom and the colors are so gorgeous together.  The addition of black jewels in the center of the flowers are a wonderful final touch.

Julie + Playdate No. 1 = Awesome!

Just a little note: Shay titled this post. :-)

Hi all!

It's Julie here!  Just popping by to share a card I made from the Playdate #1 inspiration. What is Playdate? It is a new feature here at the winnie & walter blog where you can create a project inspired by the photo, and enter to win a chance to be our Guest Designer for our May release!  The winner will be chosen by us and will receive all of the stamps for that release!  To read more about the details, visit this post!

Here is a look at the Playdate #1 image:

playdate no.1 graphic-mar2014
Source: Fresh Art Photography

And, here is my sample: jmog_playdate1_A

This card has a lot going on with the quilt pattern background created with Basic Grey papers from the Soleil collection. This whole pack of paper had the perfect color tones to coordinate with the little girl at the bottom of the image. The pink, yellow and purple are really seen clearly in the bottom left quilt square.  I loved the quilt underneath the family and thought it would make a good background.

jmog_playdate1_C

The banner is cut from another paper in the collection that is an image of sky / clouds and I thought it worked perfectly because the whole family is looking up, and it is such a happy thought to remember times of lying in the grass and looking up at puffy white clouds.  I stamped the love from The Big, the Bold and the Happy set in Memento Gray Flannel ink to keep it a little softer on this banner.  I added the open arrow and "sending you" and row of solid hearts from You've Got Love Mail set in two pink chalk ink colors.  I love that these hearts mimic those in the pattern paper. The ticket and the circle heart from The Write Stuff: Love Story were stamped on more papers from this collection and Glossy Accents was added to give the hearts shine!  I added "hello friend" small words, also from The Big, the Bold and the Happy in black ink.  To finish, I found some sequins and gems in just the right colors.

We are really enjoying all of the cards that have been entered in the contest for Playdate 1 as well as the Join in to Win page.  You all are so creative!  Loving all of the ideas and beautiful ways you are using the winnie & walter stamps.  If you haven't entered, we hope you will. You have until March 31 at 11:59 p.m. central for the Playdate contest.  You can enter both, and you can enter multiple times.  We would love it if you come out to play with us!

Happy Stamping!

Julie

vanessaanchor

This bright and fun nautical number uses both "thanks" from The Big, the Bold and You and "for your support" from Parentville.  Add the bold stripes and negative of an anchor to make this a jaunty card with class!

vanessaYou

What a way to use The Big, the Bold and You along with Scenery: Big Bang Confetti (which will be restocked in a couple of weeks) for a playful and celebratory card!  This could be an encouragement card, thank you card, just because card, birthday card or even a love card for a man or woman!  Talk about versatile.
