I have another bright spring inspiration to share (if I keep making cards, spring weather will come, right? I hope you will play along - don't forget, one lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Winnie and Walter! Here is my inspiration for this month's Color Combo:
And here is my color inspiration for this month:
One of the biggest events in April in Northwestern Washington is the annual Tulip Festival - and while it gets super busy and brings in lots of extra cars and traffic, it really is breathtaking to go see fields upon fields of tulips stretching before you. So when I happened upon this image on Pinterest - I decided that as well as the colors, I was going to use the photo as my inspiration and attempt to recreate it using the ever so gorgeous (and perfect for what I desired to recreate!) In Bloom: Addie's Garden.
This card took lots of time cutting out masks and such - I'm pretty sure at 1 1/2 hours this is the longest amount of time I've spent on one card in quite a while - but I'm so pleased with how it came out, that it was totally worth it! Once I had progressively masked and stamped out my entire scene of flowers, I left the masks in place and blended two shades of distress ink over the image for an ombre effect. I added some water splatters and some some splatters of gold mist as well, then removed the masks. I colored in the florals with Copics at this point, and then added some doodles with a white pen. I added a sentiment from Sketchy Thoughts, and a die cut frame tucked behind using Essentials: Noelle Cutaways in white, then mounted the entire thing on a cream cardbase. I love the touch of contrast between the white and cream to set off the vibrant imae in the front!
Now - I have a few favorites to feature! Every single project was lovely, but I thought I'd give a shout out to a few that especially caught my eye!
First up, I love how Greta made this clean and graphic card with the color combo - the colors just POP, and the splatters and sequins just make it pop that much MORE! And the tiny sentiment lets the other elements just shine!
Next up, this gorgeous creation from Maryam - AMAZING, yes? So soft, pretty, and romantic - the play of the florals and sentiments are perfect - just like a DANCE!
Next up - this LOVELY floral card from Preeti - I love the oval shape of the card, the soft watercolor wash in the background, and the PERECT clusters of florals to frame the sentiment!
And finally - this SUPER sweet little card by Piyu! I ADORE the way she crammed all those darling critters onto one card, peeking out so charmingly! And still perfectly incorporating the color combo! Adorable!
