Please give Diane a big round of applause to welcome her as she steps onto the stage for her first performance as our July Leading Lady!

Oh my goodness am I ever excited to be here today!  When Shay asked me several months ago if I would be interested in being a Winnie & Walter Leading Lady I didn't hesitate for one second to say YES!  I've been a big fan of Winnie & Walter ever since I started seeing their beautiful, big, bold words start showing up around the internet several years ago.  My first purchases from them were those word stamp sets, and since then I've been lucky enough to collect MANY of their stamps and dies.  They are some of my most treasured, most loved, and most used craft items!  Thank you so much, Shay, for having me here this month!

Now on to my first performance!  Today I'm going to show you some creative ways to use your Winnie & Walter dies.  I have quite a thing for dies, and use them on almost every card I make.  I'm always looking for out of the ordinary ways to use my dies, and I hope that my ideas today will spark your creativity.

First up is a card that uses a die within a die.  I started by cutting a heart shape from white card stock using the solid heart from True Multifaceted Heart Cutaways.  Next I colored the heart by doing some ink blending with distress inks (Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry).  I used the little word "love", from The Big, the Bold, and Happy, and repeatedly stamped it on the heart with black ink.  Next I used the "you" die from The Big, the Bold and You Cutaways, and cut the heart with it.  The rest of the card was very simple, I added a few strips of washi tape, popped up the heart on some foam dimensional tape, and added a few glittery die cut hearts (cut using Essentials: Audrey Cutaways), and a black enamel heart.

My next card uses the butterfly dies from Essentials: Audrey Cutaways, in a unique way.

Just as you can use tiny stamps to make a big impact by repeatedly stamping them, you can do the same thing with tiny dies!  Here I used the 2 small butterflies and cut them repeatedly from white card stock to fill most of the card, leaving a space at the bottom for a sentiment.  I didn't do anything fussy to line up the butterflies, I just eye-balled it because I didn't want them to be "perfectly perfect".  Next I placed a piece of patterned paper behind the butterflies and mounted it on a white card base.  To make the sentiment I pulled the pink color from the patterned paper and stamped the word "kindness" from Kindness with Evelin T. Designs, first with PTI Hibiscus Burst ink, and then I inked the "ness" part of the word with some PTI Raspberry Fizz, a darker shade of pink, and stamped again.  This is a little trick I do from time to time to add some interest to my sentiments.  I stamped the word "matters" with black ink, and to finish the card I added a few of the little white butterflies, popped up with foam tape, and placed down slightly askew so you can see a bit of the color peeking through.  I added one more butterfly cut from the patterned paper next to the sentiment.

My next card uses the hearts from True Multifaceted Heart Cutaways combined with the pretty flowers from In Bloom: Eva's Favorite Flowers and a fun technique!

To make this card I started by cutting the solid heart from True Multifaceted Heart Cutaways from the middle of a piece of typing paper.  Next I placed the sheet of typing paper over a piece of white card stock, and used that as a mask to random stamp inside the heart with the flowers from In Bloom: Eva's Favorite Flowers.  I also used a tiny flower from In Bloom: Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya to fill in some of the smaller spaces in the heart.  Next I cut 3 of the multifaceted hearts from white card stock and placed them over top of the flower stamped hearts, trimming where necessary.  I cut a few of the branches from In Bloom: Paulina's Greenery Cutaways from vellum paper, and stamped a few of the flowers from In Bloom: Eva's Favorite Flowers and fussy cut them (this was before I received the wonderful new dies to go with that stamp set!)  I arranged the stems and flowers on my card.  The word "thanks" was cut from gold glitter paper using The Big, the Bold and You Cutaways, and "a bunch" was stamped using The Big, the Bold and You stamps.  I finished the card with a few gold sequins placed in the centers of the flowers.  There are so many possibilities with this fun technique, and the large heart, star, and gem dies would all work to fill with something!

Even though the 4th of July has passed, I wanted to share one more card with you today that I made using True Multifaceted Border Cutaways and True Multifaceted Star Cutaways.

This card was very easy to put together, and makes such an awesome flag card!  I simply cut 2 of the multifaceted stripes from white card stock, and 3 strips of red card stock, and placed them on a white card base.  I love the extra interest that the multifaceted stripe adds to the card.  For the sentiment I stamped the word "happy" from Scenery: Bigger Bang Confetti with VersaMark ink and embossed in white.  The "4th" was made with some white rub-ons I had in my stash.  I cut the solid star and multifaceted star from navy blue card stock and stapled and clipped them together with a tiny paper clip.  Sequin trim and a few gold sequins finish this card.

That's just the tip of the iceberg for creative uses for your dies, as a matter of fact I had so many ideas I'm going to be back with a "part 2" for you next week using one of my favorite Winnie & Walter die sets (you'll have to come back next Saturday to find out what that is!)

Please be sure to pop over to my blog, It's all about the ART!, and leave a comment for a chance to win a $30.00 gift certificate to Winnie & Walter!  I'll be drawing a random winner at the end of the month from all those who leave comments on my blog for my Leading Lady posts during the month!
