We are proud to bring you our next Spotlight On...Lin Brandyberry! Lin's been a wonderful supporter since early on and a proponent for w&w doing more floral sets (she and others will be happy to know that we have some floral products coming out for our next release and have plans to continue to add to them). We've been impressed with Lin's lovely creations for our challenges including our Playdate Challenge every single time!

>>>ABOUT LIN<<<
Hi everyone, I'm Lin. I'm blessed to be a daughter, sister, wife of 43 years, Mom of 2 grown sons, and Gramma of 3 little sweethearts in Texas. I discovered crafts my senior year in college, and have done cross-stitch and quilting for many years, but making cards has been my passion now since 2005. I love playing with lots of color and pattern and I love flowers, birds, and hearts. You can find me on flickr as quilterlin, and my blog is Sending Hugs. I fell in love with Winnie & Walter products immediately, and I'm so tickled to be in the Spotlight this month!
I was thrilled to be contacted by Shay a few months ago to ask if I'd like to create some projects this month with a theme of Shades of Spring, and of course I said YES! I love spring and knew I'd have lots of fun playing with Winnie & Walter goodies!

>>>LIN'S PROJECTS<<<
I was thrilled to be contacted by Shay a few months ago to ask if I'd like to create some projects this month with a theme of Shades of Spring, and of course I said YES! I love spring and knew I'd have lots of fun playing with Winnie & Walter goodies!
So today, being the lover of flowers
that I am, I thought I'd make some floral cards using distress inks and some
Winnie & Walter creative screenings, stamps, and cutaways. Here's
the first one:
supplies: Duo: The Big, the Bold and Extras Creative Screenings, The Big, the Bold and the Happy Cutaways, spun sugar, worn
lipstick, scattered straw, bundled sage, and tumbled glass distress inks,
pink sequins, watercolor paper, coral cardstock
This is my first time using the
creative screenings, but it won't be my last! I really enjoyed the
process of making this lovely rose, and it is such a nice big size that it
doesn't need much else than a sentiment to go with it. I first sponged in
the flower base using spun sugar, then placed the detail stencil over it and
added shading using worn lipstick and scattered straw. Then I masked off
this whole flower and stencilled in the leaves and their detailing with bundled
sage. I'm also using the cutaways for the first time and I love the
beautiful script and the ease of cutting! I just die-cut out my "love"
sentiment" and placed it in the corner of my card, along with a sprinkling
of pink sequins.
My next card uses another of Winnie & Walter's floral images, in stamp form this time, and I used my distress inks as
watercolors:
supplies: The
Big, the Bold and Extras, The
Big, The Bold and Seasons cutaways, Big,
Bold Seasons, watercolor paper, worn lipstick, festive berries,
spiced marmalade, ripe persimmon, and peeled paint distress inks, watercolor
and coral cardstock
For this card I started with a piece
of watercolor paper and brushed on some water across the top half of my panel,
then stamped the solid flower in spiced marmalade and worn lipstick. I
loved how the colors ran and mixed together. After that was thoroughly
dry, I went back in with the outline of the flower and a slightly darker color
of coordinating ink (ripe persimmon and festive berries) to add the flower
details. Next I stamped the leaves and then the 3 little dots that are
included in the stamp set. I die-cut the spring sentiment from a coral
cardstock and stamped the welcome several times above it.
I hope I've brought a little
springtime into your life today with my cards, and I hope you'll come back and
join me next week as I play some more with more Winnie & Walter
products. See you then!
