Winter Wonderland | Family Fun with Kelly

Hi folks! Kelly Griglione here, and I'd like to share some fun projects from our family Christmas party this weekend. The first one is a present for my Aunt whom I'm very thankful for, as she does a great job keeping our extended family so close. It's an 8x10 canvas photo of all the cousins together this summer (Winkflash is having a $5 sale on these through Jan 31, although you do pay an additional $10 for shipping).

I thought of the canvas more like a scrapbook page and added details to it, like the scattered clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

In the corner I die cut "family" from The Big, the Bold and Blessings Cutaways and used the sentiment from A Tree For All Seasons, except I did not ink the "I" in the beginning of "I will always be there for you." I use the wood grain hearts from Parentville Extras so often to add a little something "extra".

To dress up the sides of the canvas I adhered 1/2 inch strips of patterned paper. Here's where you can tie the canvas in with your decor if the colors in your photo don't seem to match the space you'll be displaying it in.

Before wrapping it up, I added a personal message with a white gel pen to the back of the canvas. I also went back and added the date with staz-on ink to the front. Aunt Cindy really seemed to enjoy it! I mean, how could she not ... it was a photo of all her grandkids, after all!

The next project is one of the Minute-To-Win-It games we played. This game is throwing the most peppermint marshmallows into a Christmas tin.
I got the plain green tins from Dollar Tree and dressed them up with some left-over red velvet ribbon. The "Merry Christmas Family" is die cut with The Big, the Bold and Blessings Cutaways in silver glitter paper. The peppermint candies are stamped withMini Scenery: The Peppermint Zone and punched with a 2" circle punch. Clear cellophane is wrapped around each one.

I was excited how the peppermint candies on the tins tie in with the mini peppermint marshmallows that are thrown into the tins!

We had four teams. Each team picked a contestant for each game. Here are the four peppermint marshmallow throwers.

And here they are throwing into the tins on the table. You can see my oldest son lying on the floor in front of the table with his mouth open. I think he was trying to catch any stray peppermint marshmallows (they're pretty tasty!) Boy was it LOUD. The contestants had a lot of cheerleaders rooting for them!

One team tried helping by being a human backboard, hoping the marshmallows would bounce into the tin. It was awesome seeing everyone get into the games!
We'll definitely be doing these again next year! I've got photos of the other Family Christmas Party Games we played on my blog. Aside from having a blast and laughing so hard that my face hurt, I was happy to get more uses out of my paper crafting supplies : )
