Dear, sweet, wonderful and superbly talented Suzanne Dahlberg is stepping down from The Talent and yet she will not be gone from winnie & walter entirely. We adore her and are so happy that she will be joining us from time to time when all the stars align. :-)
Now for the exciting and happy news! The rest of our current creative team: Heather Pulvirenti, Joni Andaya, Kelly Griglione and Vanessa Menhorn are continuing on with us (yipee!) and we have four (!!) new members we are adding to The Talent!
>>>THE GOOD STUFF<<<
Now, you may or may not be familiar (but you will be!) with these fabulous ladies so we wanted to share more about our new additions:
Lea was one of our special guest stars for our grand opening event so you know we love her and her gorgeous feminine, layered style. Her projects are always beautiful and inspiring. We are so thrilled that she is joining us as one of The Talent!
Lea's blog: Lea's Cupcakes and Sunshine
More about Lea:
1. Favorite snack(s) while creating:
Occasionally cashews or something covered in dark chocolate….but mostly I prefer to have my Camelbak of ice water & either a white chocolate latte or chai tea latte.
2. Color combo I can’t get enough of:
Aqua or mint green, pink & gold.3. On my desk/table right now is: Some brand new papers & washi tape from Glitz Design, and gold doilies I recently ordered online.
4. I excel at: Layering, and combining colors.
5. When I craft I: watch tv/movies; listen to music; listen to the voices in my head; and/or prefer silence: I typically have a show on Netflix in the background…one that I don’t care if I’m really watching it.
6. My favorite crafting companion: My two dogs, who will lay on the couch next to me or right at my feet if they want my attention.
7. Don’t you dare take this away from me: Any of my 6x6 paper pads, my gold accents or inks, or my corner punches. Just back away and everything will be okay.
8. My favorite crafting holiday/event: World Card Making Day!!!
9. My pictures are mostly of: My dogs, food, and my hasband & me!
10. When I grow up I want to be: An engagement & wedding photographer….oh wait! I already am. Lol!
Mayuri's style is striking and artistic with dramatic boldness. High contrast and high design are perfectly balanced in her projects. We think you will be so very inspired by her unique and innovative perspective...we sure are!!
Mayuri's blog: Candles in the Garden
More about Mayuri:
1. Favorite snack(s) while creating:
Hmm…don’t tell anyone, but in one of the drawers in my craft room, I’ve kept a selection of biscuits and sweeties for when I get the munchies! I usually have a glass of water handy too, but far enough away from my immediate work surfaces!
2. Color combo I can’t get enough of
I always seem to go back to my Distress Ink swatch chart and can’t get enough of the warm reds, pinks, oranges and yellows…sometimes I like to throw in a bit of blue for contrast, but those are usually my go-to palettes!3. On my desk/table right now is: A mess! No, I try to keep my supplies packed away after each session but always have my box of Distress Markers and a pencil tin that holds craft knives, erasers, scissors and other everyday crafting essentials. Randomly, there is also a memory stick on my desk, though I don’t know why!
4. I excel at: A little bit of this, and a little bit of that…I’d like to think I excelled at being creative but know that I have a loooooong way to go and so many gifted crafters to learn from…
5. When I craft I: Usually have Pinterest on my computer in the background, but also like listening to music.
6. My favorite crafting companion: My Grand Calibur, though the Silhouette Cameo come a close second ;-)
7. Don’t you dare take this away from me: My cutting matt and craft knives.
8. My favorite crafting holiday/event Birthdays.
9. My pictures are mostly of: My cards and occasionally, moments that have made me happy.
10. When I grow up I want to be: Able to look back and not regret anything. I also want to be a better photographer.
Long before Gayatri dazzled us with her use of Winnie & Walter stamps we had been enchanted with her versatility to go from soft and feminine to vibrant and graphic all the while maintaining a sense of freshness and simplicity. That is no small feat!
Gayatri's blog: Handmade by G3
More about Gayatri:
1. Favorite snack(s) while creating:
I generally don’t snack while crafting because I have my craft room upstairs and our house rule is no food upstairs. Moreover If I snack I tend to focus on the food more than crafting lol!
2. Color combo I can’t get enough of:
I love bright colours but I cannot get enough of black, white and gold. Classic colour combo.3. On my desk/table right now is: OMG! It is a mess and needs a clean but I am working on a card using inlay die technique. So I have a few dies, white cardstocks and distress inks on my working desk.
4. I excel at: This is a hard question. I don’t want to blow my own horn but I think I excel at clean and simple style of cards.
5. When I craft I: watch tv/movies; listen to music; listen to the voices in my head; and/or prefer silence: I prefer to listen to radio or music from my phone. Play it softer so music is in the background. Then I can listen to my creative thoughts. LOL!
6. My favorite crafting companion: My dog Charlie. He sits under my desk, nibbles on the off cuts falling off my table and every now and then I get my feet licked as well :-)
7. Don’t you dare take this away from me: My whole craft room. Hard to pick one item. I want them all :-)
8. My favorite crafting holiday/event: Last year I participated in the Gallery Idol by Papercraft Magazine. And I never thought I will get selected and get into the rounds. And I was on a cruise to Alaska in the middle of the rounds. It was so much fun to craft on a cruise ship, take a photo and use the ship’s satellite internet to post it. I was delighted that I can craft and post in the middle of the ocean.
9. My pictures are mostly of: My dog and my cards. Whether it is on my phone or on my laptop, I have heaps of pictures of my dog Charlie and of course all my cards :-)
10. When I grow up I want to be: I always wanted to be an interior designer. I love colours, play with designs and space. I had the opportunity to interior design my house and very happy when people appreciate it. Wish one day I can take it up as my job.
It is unbelievable that Laura is only 17 as her projects are charming, soft and lovely! There is a sense of light and airiness in her work that we find delightful. We are so impressed with her and her talent we just had to invite her to join The Talent.
Laura's blog: Making Cards is Fun
More about Laura:
1. Favorite snack(s) while creating: I don’t snack in the craft room…1) I’m scared that I would spill on my cards 2) I’m too focused on my card while I’m creating.
2. Color combo I can’t get enough of: Mint, pink, aqua blue.3. On my desk/table right now is: A finished card.
4. I excel at: This was a tricky question. I think I excel at combining colors.
5. When I craft I: watch tv/movies; listen to music; listen to the voices in my head; and/or prefer silence: I listen to the voices in my head. They tell me what I should do with my card! :-)
6. My favorite crafting companion: My dog Jinny.
7. Don’t you dare take this away from me: Stamps!
8. My favorite crafting holiday/event: Spring themed cards.
9. My pictures are mostly of: My cards and my dog Jinny.
