share-the-love-graphic-distress-inks-ranger

Welcome back to our second day of our Share the Love Week featuring Tim Holtz Distress Inks by Ranger!  This is a week-long love fest when we focus on a company or product we adore and show how smitten we are by using our featured love with w&w products!

Distress Inks are a fabulous product line brought to you by Ranger and the incomparable Tim Holtz. We recommend, if you haven't already, stalking following Tim Holtz's site and Ranger's site for more information and inspiration.

This time around we want you...yes, you...to participate with us for a chance to win some awesome prizes.

Our second day is about another popular trend: Ombre!

Before we get to how you can participate to win, let's see what Shay and Gayatri, Mayuri and Vanessa of The Talent have made.

I find ombre or the variation in shade endlessly fascinating.  Distress Ink has such a lovely array of color and blending properties even when just simply stamping.  I inked up the outline triangle border from Scenery: Rectangled & Triangled with black ink and then using the colors of squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, wild honey, spiced marmalade and barn door stamped inside the outline triangles with the solid border.  As Distress Ink usually beads up on photopolymer stamps, I like to first ink up with Versamark to allow Distress Ink to stick more readily to the stamp. For some of the triangles I overlapped the colors for greater blending of colors.  The more times you stamp, the deeper and richer the color.

Over the triangles I stamped "shine" from The Big, the Bold and Fun in Versamark and then embossed it with gold embossing powder.  As some the the embossing powder stuck to the Distress Ink in the background (they dry slightly slower than dye inks), I just allowed some of it to stay on the background for interest when I heat embossed.  To make "shine" pop more I outlined it with a grey Copic marker (C7) and white Uni-ball Signo gel pen. Then in black ink I stamped "on", "your" and "day" all from The Big, the Bold and Extras.  Using a ink blending tool from Ranger I edged the panel in black soot Distress Ink.  I placed the panel on a slightly larger panel of black cardstock with dimensional foam adhesive.  At the bottom I added white triangles.  All of this was added to a white woodgrain embossed cardstock card base.

I finished it off with gold sequins.  I just can't leave them off. :-)
