Spotlight On....Dolly Marshall! Part Deux

spotlight-dolly-marshall

We are so lucky to have Dolly aka scrapthat back with us for another awesome post (wait until you see it)!  If you missed learning more about Dolly and seeing her first clever projects CLICK HERE!

Now, it's Dolly's time to sparkle and shine...

Hello again! Are we all ready to have some fun? Of course we are so let's get down to it shall we? Today I'm talking about glorious embellishments, or Card Candy! Now I don't know if you have noticed or not but I sure have that most cute embellishments also have words with them, not a lot usually but one or two special "little" words. I have made these in the past but it was a bit time consuming, first I had to think up a bunch of little words that I wanted, since I would print it on my printer I would want a whole bunch, then I had to plan out some spacing...and print finally. Winnie and Walter have saved us all from all of that! So let's put all these little gems that Winnie and Walter have given us to some fun uses shall we?! First, let's gather our scraps. I save them all...the more I love a paper the smaller a scrap I will save, now I am going to give them the love they deserve!! We are going to need: Slices of 3/8" of CS, this can really be in any color- white goes with everything so make sure you have some white or off white/cream strips , length doesn't matter...we will trim as we go. Now some fatter strips would be good, with a width of at least a 1/2". I'm telling you this now because we are going to take ours scraps, gather our dies and cut out a bunch of stuff....Labels, small tags, small shapes, circles, scalloped circles, ovals, squares, flowers (you always need flowers in my opinion!) use CS shapes, foam, felt, fabric, cork paper, metallic papers...whatever you know your dies/die cutting machines can handle!

And any little strips of scraps you get you will save. When I'm creating I often end up with extra, stuff that wasn't the right color for my projects etc. etc. grab those goodies to!

Are you with me? okay... now you can add in some stash, again labels, small tags, tickets, all of the above items, brads, bling, buttons Oh my! We are going to take all of this and layer it all up and then add a crowning touch to make one of a kind embellies you can use on ALL of your projects! they will be so cute you will be tempted to hoard them but don't! use them and make more!! Now back to those little strips of papers. On the 3/8" strips you are going to bust out your Big and Bold sets and your inks and stamp out words you love, words you think will make cute embellishments for YOUR cards/pages/projects. I've tried to make my pictures do the explaining for me. Don't worry if you don't have the same things as me-your stuff is great! (that's why you bought it right??!) And if you pop over to my blog...I'm going to link you to a lot of stuff you can make by hand if you don't have dies for things like...library pockets, how to make a rolled flowers. Don't forget that Winnie and Walter have free shapes on their site for you to use with your cutting machine and they can make fun stuff too! Here we go! Let the fun begin!!

The only limits to this kind of play is your imagination. Oh and if you have kids, this is a GREAT time to get them involved in the fun too...they have wild limitless imaginations and come up with some awesome ideas! (You may want to set a ground rules on how many flowers you can use on each embellie! LOL) When you are done playing you too could have a pile of embellishments like this!
And have a ton of fun doing it too!

I hope you have as much fun playing as I did!! Thank you so much to Winnie and Walter, Julie and   Shay for thinking me worthy to shine a spotlight on, I truly have had a blast. Please drop by my blog http://scrapthat-myheartmyart.blogspot.ca and have fun!

  1. Dolly, this is nothing short of AWESOME! What a wonderful way to create our own embellishments, and your photos of how seemingly random bits merge into the most delight pieces is absolutely amazing! The hearts, wee flower and Eiffel Tower is incredibly eye-catching, as are all those with the wee butterflies (I'm rather obsessed with butterflies!). Inspired and inspiring ways to use our 'small' Winnie and Walter stamps...you've just amped up their versatility immensely! Your passion for W&W and for crafting: delightful! Thank you!
