Special Guest Star Laina Lamb | Take One

gueststar_lainalamb
We are so thrilled and honored to bring you Laina Lamb as our Special Guest Star this October!  She's wondrously talented and she designs both product and papercrafting projects (sort of like an actor who is also a gifted director or writer!).  She's one sensationally kind and generous person too.  Now let's hear more about Laina and see her amazing projects! And make sure to leave her some love!

<<<ABOUT LAINA>>>

LainaLamb_Headshot

A very big Thank You to Shay and Julie for having me here today as their special guest. My name is Laina Lamb. I live outside of Cleveland, Ohio with my husband Steve and our three rowdy and loveable boys.

A little bit about me…After graduating from the University of Cincinnati, I designed retail stores and malls for over ten years. While taking a career break to raise my sons, I discovered the world of paper crafting and instantly fell head over heels in love. This passion for storytelling and art helped transition me into a free-lance graphic designer for craft industry. I have had the privilege of has designing everything from paper to cutting cartridges. I was also a former Dream Team Member for the Creating Keepsakes and currently a Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Go-to Gal and Contributing Editor. When I’m not at my desk creating, I enjoy long dinners out with friends, watching live local bands, and travel with my family. Especially if it involves a cruise ship or a warm sandy beach!

<<<LAINA'S PROJECTS>>>

LainaLamb_WinnieWalter_YellowHouseCard

My first card uses the beautiful house stamp from the This Awesome House set. I stamped the house on a white base layer and colored with Copic markers. The top layer was created by cutting first with a steel die to create the stitched edge and then run though my Silhouette machine to cut the House shape window from the layer. The Digital versions of each Winnie and Walter set are very handy to have if you own a digital cutter. I simply added a .06” offset to the stamp image to create an outline shape for adding the stamp to.

I used this same method for the banner. I added the .06” offset to the original shape, cut with my Silhouette, and stamped the banner in black dye ink. I added an additional .06” offset to that shape to create the secondary blue border.

After all pieces were cut, I simply layered them all onto a card base with dimensional pop dots. Enamel dots were added as an accent to finish the card.

I loved the simplicity of the card and decided to make another version using a new color scheme.

Now I have two beautiful cards to give to a new couple or anyone relocating to a new home.

Thanks again for letting me share today! I’ll be back later this month with several other card ideas to share.
